4. Damned Parade

We flew to the middle of the town where the celebration was taking place. From above everything looked like an abstract painting where the different colors of dresses and hair and skin mixed together like splashes of paint. All the fairies were singing along to a crappy fairy band that were covering the song Holland 1945 by neutral milk hotel, but nobody seemed to care about the quality of the music or the singers’ high pitched soprano voices, instead they were all carried away with their own chants and movements. As soon as we landed we tried to fit in by singing and moving our bodies through the crowd. Seriously if I was to hide from authorities, this is the perfect place to do so. Everyone was lost in the heat of the moment. But soon after the song was done, a single bang on a drum made the crowd split into two rows with utter silence. Then the marching parade began and the fairy knights started marching in with the beat.  They didn’t look right or left they just looked up as they walked wearing pride and confidence under their armors. The sound of their steps pumped into my heart and the sound of the instruments flowed into my ears. It was just like a dream!

“Oh my god they are so attractive!” I whisper into her ear.

“I know right? Listen I’ll be right back” she replied as she rushed and disappeared into the crowd.

After that a cart that seemed like it was dipped in glitter passed with the Spero queen sitting on it and fairy knights surrounding it. The queen was emotionless but as soon as she saw the fear in our eyes she showed us a porcelain smile. And that’s when everyone started cheering again and the girls pushed their way to the front row to get a glimpse of the handsome knights.

I felt like everything was going in slow motion and even though I was surrounded by thousands of other Speroes I felt so alone. Someone pulled my by the hand and I gasped as I turned around and saw that it was a tall super pale guy with ink black hair sweeping across his deep blue eyes and prominent jaw bones. The first impression he made was: Typical bad boy!

He came even closer and said to me “hey there gorgeous, want to go to the beach? Maybe watch the sunset with me”

“Excuse me? I’m sorry but I am waiting fo-”

“You shouldn’t be here Amber. It’s not where you belong.” He interrupted with a serious tone this time and a sharp look on his face.

“You are crazy get away from me. How do you even know my name?” I shouted at him. I really wish he was crazy but I really doubt that.
“I know everything about you; give me a chance to explain. We need to talk.”

“Tell me I can trust you. Tell me you won’t hurt me” oh shit I just let my curiosity to know the unknown get the best of me.
“I won’t hurt you Amber; you can trust me and only me. And you know fairies cannot lie.” He said putting his hand on my bear shoulder.

“Umm, ok but there isn’t even a beach here.” I say as I pulled back away from his hand.

“You don’t even know how to create a portal? What a loss. You have no idea what you can do, do you?” he said with a sarcastic look on his face.

“First of all, I did not forget how to use a portal and sec-”

He put his finger on my mouth to shut me up then he pulled me out of the crowd and opened up a portable where we both sunk into. And to the beach we went.
