Last night I was too lazy to change my clothes and when I woke up his scent was all over me. I took a shower, changed into a mini jeans skirt and a pink fitted tuck in plain v neck T-shirt. I got a text from Kendra saying that she wanted me to meet up with her at the mountains so I picked up some fairy dust and my cell phone then headed there immediately. I flew to the mountains inhaling in the fresh cold morning air into my lungs. I landed in the green luscious woods and searched for Kendra till I found her. I must admit that she didn’t look too excited to see me; rage was flowing through her veins and her face was hot red by the time I looked at her in the eyes. With her complexion turning red and her orange hair, she basically looked like a talking orange.

“To be honest with you, I didn’t expect you’d come.” She snapped.

“What? Why?”

“I’m always there for you, but lately it seems like you haven’t really got time for me. Do you care to explain where you were last night and the night before?” She said holding the dream catcher I used the first time I opened up a dream portal. BUSTED.

“Listen I’m sorry! Put yourself in my shoes ok? Don’t just shout at me like that.” I answered defensively.

She turned away in disappointment and sorrow then threw the dream catcher on the grass and walked away.

“Kendra, wait!” I called out for her.

“What do you want? Leave me alone!” she roared. Her gaze was like a stabbing knife; sharp and painful.

“Let me make it up to you. How about we go out alone and have fun?”

“I’m listening” she said.

That what I like the most about her, she almost never holds grudges against someone and she can never get mad at me for more than five minutes. I must admit that I do take that for granted sometimes but I really wouldn’t survive a day without her by my side.

“I’m taking you to the human world. After all, we really need to get new albums. Fairy music is all the same high pitched crap.”

“You know me too well. Let’s go back then so we can open up a portal or something.”

“No need” I said as I clutched my pendant tightly and opened up a portal. Kendra gasped in surprise then glanced at the pendant on my neck where the needles where gleaming purple and blue.

“Who gave you that? Do you know how hard it is to get one?”

Before I replied, the current of the wind changed and the trees were dancing back and forth scattering the leaves in every direction. The bushes made whispering sounds and soon enough we were sucked in by the great force of the portal until we were on the crowded streets of London next to an alternative rock themed shop with posters of bands, singers, and comic books stuck on the glass windows. From outside it looked quite small, but as a soon as we stepped it, we were able to see the wide shelves arranged by genre and many sections; one for music, one for video games and movies, one for comic books and fan books, and of course the underground section where the used CD’s were located. As we roamed around, all of the guys that were in the shop stole glances at us and some of them where even staring creepily. It must’ve done with the fact that each guy saw us the way they pictured their dream girl would be. Kendra went to check out the underground section while I checked out some books. I tried to ignore the people’s eyes by looking at the books in front of me. One of them had a singer with ginger hair on the cover with the title ‘Ed Sheeran’; he should totally see Kendra, the real appearance of Kendra. Then I passed by the comics to get to the punk rock music section. As I was walking there, I heard someone talking from behind me and it occurred to me that for the last five minutes someone had been talking to me but I wasn’t really listening. I turned around to see this guy wearing thick framed glasses with caramel hair that looked like surfing waves but a little bit more tussled, peaceful hazel eyes, voluminous long eye lashes, straight thick eye brows, rectangular slightly unshaven face, and freckles all around, talking to me.

“Were you talking to me?” I asked.

“Um, I have been for the past five minutes. Don’t worry. It’s not like we have beautiful girls like you walk into the store every day.” He said smiling shyly.

I wanted to turn back the time and make him feel better but what he said made me decide to just go with the flow. His voice was rasp and deep. I looked at his badge and read ‘Kyle’. I wanted to see what he meant by beautiful, and how I appeared to him so I asked mischeviously. “Well, what do you find beautiful in me anyway?”

“Your pink hair looks great really, and your pale skin is one of a kind. Where did you get your purple lenses from though?”

My eyes widened when he described what he saw in me. He saw me just the way I really looked, it made me feel really good to know that someone really considers my true appearance as perfection.

“Um they... Yeah lenses,” I realized that I couldn’t tell him that my eyes were naturally purple because humans don’t have this wide range of eye colors, “Thank you, you seem like a nice guy, Kyle. What were you saying to me while I was dozing off?” I changed the subject.

“I was just wondering if you’d allow me to use your appearance to create a new character for this comic I’m writing. If it turns out good my manager is going to display it in this store!” he said with excitement glowing in his beautiful eyes. There was no doubt that he was a comic geek, well a cute comic geek anyway. He was wearing a faded avenger T-shirt and black skinny jeans. He really had skinny legs to be honest, but he rocked the jeans!

“Hahah, of course. Call me Amber. How can I help you?”

“Well first of all, I have to sketch you. We can,” he swallowed then the seemed like he was struggling to get the words out and he started getting nervous.

“Meet somewhere maybe? What about I come to your place? “It was crazy of me to say that because I really didn’t know him but he seemed like a really innocent guy and besides I’m a Spero, I can defend myself if he turned out to be a homicidal freak in disguise.

He looked at me and his eyes lit up “that would be splendid!”

“Let me draw you a map or something and I’ll get back to you,” he said as he hurried down to fetch a paper and fell on the way, “I’M FINE!” he said as he dusted himself up and continued, pretending that nothing happened. I couldn’t help but giggle a little; not in a mean way though.

When he went down the stairs, Kendra came up holding an album enthusiastically. “OMG I’m totally getting this!” she said as she showed me the cover. The title said Elvis Presley Hits.

“His voice is really deep! I have never heard a voice like that before, not in Speroworld! Do you think my parents would approve or do I have to hide it along with all of the albums I’ve bought in the past? Where has this been all my life!!” She was talking really fast to a point where I didn’t fully understand all of what she said so I put my hand on her mouth to shut her up and asked “Did they drug you down there or something?”

Both of us burst out laughing then I saw Kyle walk up the stairs again. I whispered to Kendra “That employer over there is totally into me.”

She looked at him then turned back to me and said “Him?? Seriously?”

I nodded and she smiled again then we both straightened up as he approached us and handed me a little perfectly folded paper.

“Are you her friend?” he asked Kendra.

“More like her unbiological sister.” She said smiling brightly.

I felt insecure because she always got whatever she wanted and I really wanted that Kyle guy to be my friend. I didn’t fully understand why I felt this protective, he’s just human; I love Andrew I reminded myself. Maybe just the idea of befriending someone from the human world got me excited.

“So I guess I’ll see you. I’ve got some work to do now so I’ll catch you later. I hope. Please show up.” He said with uncertainty and insecurity breaking his voice then turned around and called out for his partners. I decided that I must show up because the way he said it made me unable to give it a second thought. I couldn’t hurt him, even though I didn’t know him and even though he was just human he mattered in a way. I mean come on, he’s the first human that I’ve met who sees my pink hair and my deep purple eyes.

Kendra and I went to pay for the album she chose, and a guy whistled at her; I wanted to teach him a lesson. I stopped time, went up to him and slapped his fat face then went back next to Kendra and started time again. He touched his red flaming cheek and tried to think of an explanation for the unreasonable pain he felt. I looked at him mockingly then we both went out and back to Speroworld.
