When roads cross

Harry's dad is dead and now he lives with his three younger siblings and his mother in a little house in the suburbs of England.
The family is a worker-family and the story takes place in the 60's-70's.
Harry's life is without meaning and he has a hard time finding a job to support the family. That is until he meet the daughter of the richest man in town.
Two different social classes and families, which loathes one another, have their roads crossed and every prejudice get challenged and love must take the ultimate test.

11. Mom make the eighth meet happen

"So when is she coming next time Harry?"
Harry sat in the little couch in the living room, when his mother showed up beside him.
"I don't know mom. We haven't planned anything."
"Oh well you should. She is probably sitting in her room just waiting for your call while she stares out the window unsure if you like her as she likes you."
"Mooom we're not talking about you and your childhood now."
"No, no I am just saying you should give her a little call. Meet up somewhere perhaps."
"Urgh. I don't have her number either."
"Harry! How come? That should one of the first thing to get. How will you get in contact with her now?"
"Look mom. I only invited her over because Leah was there."
"Oh Harry. Harry, Harry, Harry my dear. I am your mother right?" Harry nodded as if she was a little bit stupid. "As your mother I just know these things. You would like to see Melanie again. And maybe again. And again. And again…I can see it in the way you wanted her and us to make a good impression on eachother. The change in how you walk around in the house. And mostly in the way you convinced me and her to meet."  Harry's mother was still ashamed of it, but she only knew her side of the story at the point. "You don't know yourself just yet, but I do Harry. I see it. She isn't just another one of those girls is she?"
Harry's mother left the living room within Harry mumbled "but Leah".
Harry blushed. Embarrased to talk of these things with his mother. But mostly because she was right. And Harry had not known before now where his mother said it. Of course she wasn't just another girl. She was fascinating, special and he wanted more of her. To explore her and find out more about her. And then she was pretty.  Harry's face became red once again.
Was his mother right? Did she wait for him to call? What if she didn't? Then he would make a total joke of himself. He snorted. He couldn't believe he actually thought about making contact to this girl. She did not care about him and he didn't either.
But wow was she pretty? She wasn't pretty the first time he had seen her, but now? Something had changed within him. He knew. It was not just a silly thought stuck in his head.

He got out of the sofa and went to the narrow hall and put on his jacket.
"Where are you going?" His mother called surprised just in time from the kitchen before he walked out the door.
"I'm just going for walk." He yelled back. And he was. But somehow he ended up in front of Melanie's house.
