Caring (A Harry Styles Fanfiction)

Emily Blackwood is your almost average 20 year old nurse. She graduated university early due to her change of country, from Australia to London. With only Leah, Jess and Hannah as her friends, she struggles to find the romance she has dreamed of since a child. But that soon changes, all because of Leah. Emily isn't sure whether to thank her friend, or whether to hate her.
My fingers gently run over the dark mark situated in the crook of my neck. I wince at the slight pain. As I open my eyes that I didn't know I closed, I look to Leah.
My eyebrows furrow as I realise she isn't looking at me, but rather someone behind me. My head turns immediately to the source holding her attention.
He stands there, only metres from the door, staring at me. He smirks at me before dropping his left eye in a wink and vanishing out the door.
Fear racks through my body as I remember his words.
"You're now mine, Emily."
I turn back to Leah, our expressions the same.
Complete shock and fear.

Chapter 3

“Where the fuck is she?!” The voice booms again.

I frown and turn my head to the curtain. I place everything down on the bed. Curious, I stand up and poke my head out of the closed curtain.

“That’s Niall, my cousin.” Mia says excitedly. She goes to get up and winces when her foot slides along the sheet.

“You stay here. And I’ll go and get him okay?” We nod to each other before I step out and close the curtain.

I see Mia’s parents talking to a young man who seems around my age. He has blonde and brown hair, styled in a quiff. His eyes are reflecting the fluorescent lights showing they are a dark blue similar to my light ones. He looks quite fit, if I say so myself. But at the same time, he looks very intimidating. His tattoos show through his white shirt, and they also cover most of his arms.

I take a deep breath and release it as I walk over.

“You need to calm down mate, you’re scaring people.” Mia’s father says from the other side of the booth.

“They need to let me in!” he booms to his uncle.

“Sir if you don’t calm down you can’t come in.” Greg tries convincing him. As I make it near the desk I can see one of the nurses calling security.

I press the button to end it before walking around the desk and through the doors.

Niall is immediately in my face. My hands go to his chest and stop him from entering. He pushes past me and tries to get through the locked doors.

“Hey Niall,” his raging eyes turn to my amused ones. “The doors lock as soon as they close.”

“You have a key, fucking let me in.” His voice sneers.

I raise an eyebrow. “I left my keys with your cousin. The only way I can get back in is if you calm down, so they can let us both in.”

I take a seat on one of the waiting chairs. As he paces in the small area I can hear his breaths going further and further apart.

“Come on Niall, take a seat.” I gesture to the seat opposite me. He shakes his head without making contact. “Niall. I need you to listen to me.” He doesn’t respond so I continue. “Mia is in there waiting for you, as soon as she heard your voice she was very excited. She’s been waiting for at least 5 minutes now.”

“Shut the fuck up, bitch. You’re just a nurse, you don’t know shit.” I laugh and he turns his head to me frowning. “I insult you and you laugh at me?” he questions.

“Yeah, because that was a terrible insult. Calm yet Niall?” He nods and I smile. “Listen, if you raise your voice I won’t hesitate to kick you out. But if it were my choice I’d do more than just kick you out. Got me?” He nods again.

“You don’t scare me.” He breathes as I wave for Greg to open up the door.

“I obviously do, because I wasn’t aiming to. Why else would you say that I do?” I retort as the door opens and we walk in.

I open up the curtain to Mia and she is grinning like a mad cat. Niall rushes over to her side, completely vulnerable, compared to his raging episode only minutes before.

I smile at the pair before walking out, leaving them alone.

After talking to Greg and arranging with surgery for them to put a cast on Mia, with sedation, I walk back in. They both turn to me and I immediately feel awkward.

“Sorry.” I mumble and take my stuff from the end of the bed.

“It’s okay Emily.” Mia’s voice is chirpy. I smile.

“Uh, Surgery is ready for her.” Greg calls throughout the ward.

I look back to Mia. “I forgot to ask, but what is your favourite colour?”

“Orange!” she cheers.

I frown at her response. “I thought it would have been pink or purple.”

“Nope, too girly.” I begin to wheel her bed with the help of one of the surgeons.

“I think so too kiddo. I think so too.”
