6. Death parade

I knew the wind was swirling near

The signs appeared and they were crystal clear

Hard times marched in like a parade

Pain is a tyrant; cuts deeper than a blade

And when I decided to see the world as it was

I choked on my misery, and stumbled upon my mistakes

I knew the wind was swirling near

The signs appeared and they were crystal clear

I had an intuition that death was dancing on my balcony

So I opened all the windows hoping it might come in and conquer me

Late at night when the tyrant creeps into my mind

It feels like being castigated, it feels like drowning

Late at night I realize I’m all alone, and I wonder why

I’ve got no one to talk to, so I complain to the sky

The peaceful, placid night sky I’ve always known

Starts to weep and rain and moan

I’d like to think I’m unflappable when they shake me

I’d like to think that pain can’t change me

But again, it’s hard to stay warm when your soul

Shivers from shame and regret

When nothing in this world could help you forget

I knew the wind was getting near

But I never thought it would cause this tear
