10. Bad Reputation

There was not much to do on the first floor, most people had left to check out floor two and those who remained were doing just fine. Lewis and Nina were about to go back to the second floor when:

“Hey, you guys are from TRIBUNA!” A young girl pointed at the two of them.

“Yes, we are,” Nina smiled, “can we help you, sweetie?” She knelt down to her height.

“You guys are gross! You stole that Dragon Sword!” She yelled.

“We didn’t steal it.” Lewis spat as he looked disgustedly at the child.

Who would tell this girl such a thing? Adrianna hadn’t stolen the sword from anyone. She won it. No one owned it before her; it was rightfully hers.

Nina stood up. They seemed to have drawn a small crowd.

“I promise you, no member of TRIBUNA has ever stolen anything from anyone.” Nina held out her hands in front of her, as if she were resting them against an invisible wall.

The crowd still mumbled self-importantly, as if they knew for a fact that the two were flat out lying. Lewis shook his head and pulled Nina through the portal.

“Lewis!” She threw her arms up in frustration, “We need to convince them we’re good!”

“It’s no use. People are like that; they always think they’re right.”

And they stood in silence. Not an uncomfortable silence, but an understanding one. The two headed back to the inn to see how the others were doing.

“Lewis! Nina!” Buttercup squealed with delight, “Don’t these uniforms look so pretty?”

Buttercup’s uniform had the same socks and shoes as Nina’s, but her skirt was green instead, with a black stripe towards the bottom. She had a black top, with a miniature green jacket with short puffy sleeves and black trim that reached the bottom of her ribcage. She also had black sleeves similar to those of kimonos; only it started just above her elbow and had a green stripe towards the bottom. On top of that, she had the armour with the swords on.

“Yep.” Lewis nodded.

Her cheeks went pink and she started spinning around and around, looking at her skirt.

“She’s been doing that for twenty minutes, I’m surprised she hasn’t thrown up yet.” Mike rolled his eyes from his bed.

His uniform was different to Lewis’s. They had the same boots and trousers, only mike had a sort of black tunic with loose sleeves, all with the green trim, and black fingerless gloves. And, of course, the armour.

Lewis scanned the room for any sign of Adrianna, but she was nowhere to be seen.

“Still no Adrianna?” He asked Mike as Buttercup lost her balance and fell backwards onto the floor.

“Nope,” He shook his head, “I’ve seen her get like this before in real life. She just needs some time to herself. You’ve probably guessed she isn’t exactly a people person.”

“Are you sure we shouldn’t look for her? What if she’s in trouble?” Nina placed her hands on her hips.

“Relax,” He waved his hand in dismissal, “sometimes she’d be gone for days. She knows how to look after herself.”

“Yeah!” Buttercup had pulled herself up onto the nearest bed, “She’s really strong.”

“Exactly,” Mikes hand fell back on to his stomach as he lounged on his bed, “Besides, if you interrupt her alone time she’ll give you hell.”

“Do you know why she does that? I mean, you know her better than we do.” Lewis sat down on the bed next to Mike’s.

“Well, the last time she did this she found out her boyfriend cheated on her.” Mike sat up, “She doesn’t really like to talk about stuff; she prefers to sort it out herself.”

“Man, I hope she’s okay. It must be about that sword.” Nina sat beside Lewis.

“No, she wouldn’t get upset about something like that,” Mike placed a hand to his chin in thought, “she doesn’t care what anyone thinks about her. It must be something else…”
