21 Keys

Addison's life changed when a box containing 21 keys was dumped on her doorstep. Soon, she's on a international chase for clues, armed only with the box, the duffel bag, her wits, and her friend Marie. But it's not just a hunt for clues: it's running from their watcher.

Author's note: I do not own any of this except the plot and most characters.

3. Bit Annoying Now

When we landed, I realized what the big fuss about jet lag was. The time there was about 10 o'clock, but my internal clock insisted it was only 4. I decided to take a walk, try and find a hotel. Quickly, I wished I'd taken German instead of Spanish, because I was lost. Fortunately, there was English underneath the German. Finally, after getting off the train two stops early and walking the entire way, I found a decent priced hotel, which I checked into with the help of my friendly new credit card. I decided to see if it was possible to sleep off jet lag, and fell asleep.

When I woke up the next morning, I had a new text message, to my confusion. Hadn't I'd turned my cell phone off? But my confusion quickly turned to horror as I read the text.

Good morning sunshine.

Big day ahead.

Hope you brushed up on your stories.

Bring the keys.

I groaned. So the little bugger could contact me through my phone. I tried to text the number back, but it wouldn't send. Great. He could boss me around and I couldn't talk back. I strung the nineteen keys left onto a key ring, strung key twenty around my neck. I found a note in my suitcase.

Snow White, Snow White, beauty so fair

The Beast is marrying the beauty.

Rapunzel lost all of her hair

I hope you see where this is going.

Unfortunately, I did. I was in Germany after all. Home to the Grimm brothers and the settings of their stories.
