Capitol Diaries

The Hunger Games books form a Capitol child's point of view.

2. Chapter 2

Dear Diary,

Sorry I haven't written for so long, but I've been SO caught up in the Hunger Games, Katniss is doing well and so is Peeta, though I only pay attention to him because he's in love with Katniss. Today I gave some bread to Hamitch, her mentor, in disguise, I watched Katniss eat it and relish it! She's made an alliance with Rue, who's unbelievably cute! President Snow came to our house today! He spoke to me, can you believe it? Our conversation went something a little like this:

"Hello dear Evelina, how are you this wonderful morning?"

"Just fine, President Snow, sir!"

"Enjoying the Hunger Games?"

"Oh yes!"

"Is there anyone you're rooting for?"

"Kat-" I began, but paused, mid word. The President's Secretary's daughter couldn't support the underdogs! They were all rebels. I would have to lie. "o." I finished clumsily.

"Well, I think you've got the right end of the stick sweetheart." Snow said, tweaking my nose. I smiled weakly. My mind was thrown into a panic. I didn't know what to think.

Anyway Father couldn't tell me what the meeting was about, and it wasn't fish for dinner, it was chicken! Night!
