14. Chapter 13

I woke up the next morning to my alarm clock going off. I groaned and tried to move but something held me back. Slightly confused I turned my body to see Justin peacefully sleeping with his arm wrapped around my stomach. Well at least that solved the first part of my confusion. But now I have no clue how I got up here last night considering all I remember is falling asleep on the couch.

"Kat, please turn that off." Justin grumbled beside me before turning to the other side of the bed and putting the pillow over his ears. I blinked before turning full way and shutting the alarm clock off.

"Justin, didn't you have work?" I whispered slightly nudging him.

"I don't work on Sundays." He muttered back before rearranging the pillow and cuddling another.

With a shrug I stood up from the bed and walked straight for Camryn's room since she's usually up by now. I found her on her bed still fast asleep sprawled out in a starfish shape. I lightly chuckled before pulling up the covers and kissing her cheek causing her to stir.

"Mommy?" She whispered fluttering her her chocolate brown eyes open.

"Morning baby, I didn't mean to wake you." I whispered back slowly brushing her curls.

"I was awake. I got scared to wake you up. Justy was in there." She told me sitting up now. I giggled lightly before picking her up.

"Don't be afraid of Justin baby." Even though I didn't trust Justin full way, he was going to be in Camryn's life for while so I couldn't let her start becoming afraid of him. It was her father after all.

"Do you have work today?" Cammy asked slightly confused because I usually work on Sundays.

"No baby. Mommy and you will be spending more time together now." I sighed before sitting her at the table.

"Why?" She asked looking at me weirdly.

"Don't worry about it." I told her before getting out the fixings for pancakes.

"Now how does pancakes sound for breakfast?" I asked her with a playful smirk on my lips. Pancakes were her favorite for breakfast.

"Woohoo!" She shouted throwing her fist up in the air. It was extremely cute making me laugh.

"Shhh don't wake Justy up." I told her while calming myself done from laughter.

Camryn just giggled and nodded her head fiercely. It was a lot different tripling my pancake recipe because I had to make some for Justin. But I would have to manage seeing he was going to live here... not that I mind.

"Mmmm smells like yummy pancakes in here." I heard his deep raspy morning voice announce.

Hearing his voice just made me smile and it got even wider when I her Cam giggle happily at him. I turned my head a little after flipping a pancake to see him spinning Camryn around before lightly kissing her cheek and setting her down. I shook my head at them before setting Camryn's plate.

"Here you go." I told her setting it in front of her. But before I could turn fully around Justin wrapped his arms around my waist gently spinning me in his arms so I could face him.

"Hats off to the chef." He mumbled against my lips before leaving a short and sweet kiss there.

I smiled before rolling my eyes and pushing his chest lightly so I could set his and my plates on the table. For while all you could hear was the sound of the sliver utensils clanging against the hard plates.

"Mommy?" Camryn broke the silence.

"Yes?" I answered back after setting my pancake down.

"Do I have a daddy?" She asked making Justin drop his fork and choke a little on his food. I froze on the spot taken back by the question. She's never brought this up before and why would she bring it up now?

"Why do you ask honey?" I asked her once I got my composure right and sent Justin a knowing look.

"Well Chloe has a daddy." She told me "but I only have a mommy."

"Well of course you have a daddy Camryn." I told her with a hint of annoyance in my voice. I don't understand why she would ask that right here, right now while Justin's in the room.

"Excuse me." Justin muttered quickly before rushing upstairs. I wanted to stop him and tell him it's okay, we should tell her, but I was scared. I didn't know how he would react to me trying to help and I didn't want Camryn to experience anything she couldn't handle.

"Cam we'll talk about this a little later. You need to get ready for your bath." I sighed, picking up everyone's plates and placing them in the sink.

"Ok mommy." Cam said sounding a little disappointed before waiting for me to go upstairs with her. After getting Camryn in the bathtub, I decided I should probably talk to Justin. She liked to play with her toys for awhile anyway. Walking up to my room I saw him sitting on the bed staring at the window with a pained expression.

"Hey." I said while standing in the door frame. Justin turned his head to look at me. His face was flushed a little and his eyes were bloodshot. I instantly felt even worst looking at his face. Without a word he turned back to the window as if I never made an appearance.

I sighed before walking into the room more and sitting by him. "I'm sorry I didn't tell her but we just haven't discussed-" I started rambling before Justin cut me off.

"I'm not upset with you Katrina." He sighed before looking at me once again then back to the window. "I guess it just finally hit me that I haven't been much of a father to Camryn. I already missed three years. How am I suppose to explain that to her?" He explained getting a little choked up at the end but refusing to let tears fall.

I put my hand on his back rubbing soothing circles into it reassuring him that it's okay. "That's not your fault Justin. And yeah you missed three years but you have a lifetime left."

He sighed calmly at my touch but I could still tell there was something on his mind.

"Do you think Camryn would like me as a father?" he asked. He sounded so vulnerable I didn't really know what to do. I've never seen this side of him.

"Justin of course she loves you." I told him, surprised at how ridiculous the question was. "I've never seen her this open to any adult... not even me."

I told him, muttering the last part. I looked over at him seeing a small proud smile tugging at the end of his lips. It made me smile knowing that I could actually make him feel better again.

"JUSTY!" Camryn called from the bathroom as we heard a little bit of more splashing.

"See she called you and I'm the one that put her in the tub." I giggled slightly brushing my leg against his.

"Thanks Kat, I really needed that." Justin smiled at me making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I nodded and he kissed my forehead. After that small gesture he jogged to go get Camryn.

"Alright she's asleep." Justin sighed as he came down the stairs, then made his way next to me on the couch. Justin had just put Camryn to bed and we were about to just call it a night.

"Thanks." I smiled very grateful to have him around even though it's only been two days.

"Why're you all the way over there?" Justin smirked before pulling me to him. I blushed lightly making him chuckle then kiss my cheek.

"When do you want to tell Cam?" I sighed while leaning into his embrace, resting my head on his shoulder.

"I don't know. When the time comes I guess." Justin answered lightly rubbing my arm with his thumb. I nodded at his answer before closing my eyes savoring the moment. There was a comfortable silence for a few minutes. With Justin continuing caressing my arms and occasionally kissing my head. While I just relaxed enjoying him.

"You know, the day Cam was really sick, I had something planned for us." Justin told me gently.

My eyes snapped open. "Really?"

"Yep. And now that she is okay, I'm making sure my plan will be fulfilled." He answered not missing a beat.

"What are you talking about?" I asked not being able to read between the lines.

"Katrina Burke will you go on a date with me?"
