You & I

Niall decides he wants to hang out with Taylor after hearing her playing the guitar and talking to her, she seems so nice and trustworthy. Taylor is amazed that a hugely famous, and gorgeous, celebrity wants anything to do with her.

However, Niall can't help falling in love.

4. The Picnic

It was a meadow, but so much more prettier. The grass was lush green, despite the hot, dry weather. Flowers were scattered across the ground, making it look much more colourful. A large pond was in the middle of the meadow, the water looked surprisingly clean. It was surrounded by a single pebble border, and the sunlight reflecting off the surface of the water made it look shinier as ever.

There were a couple of willow trees with the leaves trailing on the floor, and cherry blossom trees next to the pond. There were both pink and white ones, with petals floating in one part of the pond. It was quiet and peaceful, there were wild rabbits hopping around at one end of the meadow. It really was magical.

"Wow." I breathed, it was all I could say. Niall smiled and started walking towards the pond side. I followed him, gazing at the shimmering water. He sat down at the trunk of one of the cherry blossom trees, and took off his backpack.

"What's in the bag?" I asked, as he started unzipping it.

"Food." Niall grinned. "I thought maybe we could have a picnic, if you want?" he asked.

"I would love it!" I replied, sitting down next to him. He was so sweet, anyone would fall in love with him. He even lay a blanket down, then started taking out the food. There were jam tarts, fruit salads, mini sausage rolls, strawberries dipped in chocolate, muffins, sandwiches and so many more things. For drinks, he'd brought lemonade and iced tea. I had a fruit salad, a few sausage rolls, a jam tart, quite a few strawberries, a couple of sandwiches and that.

"How did you find this place?" I asked, sipping my lemonade.

"Well, I was pretty stressed about something. I just wanted to get away from it all. It was a hot day, and I wasn't in the greatest of moods. I just kept walking, along the path, past the fence and wire, through the forest. I was all set to just sulk in the trees, but there was a gap in the bushes and I saw this place. It immediately relaxed me, just being so peaceful... and clean. I try not to show many people, in case they bring others here then everyone hears about it. The next thing, it will be covered with litter and be crowded with people. I don't want that." Niall explained, scanning our surroundings as he spoke.

"I see." I replied, eating one more strawberry. I looked up, it was actually getting a bit cold. Clouds were starting to appear, and they were getting dark.

"We'd better start packing up - it looks as if it's about to rain." Niall said, folding up the blanket.

"It won't." I said - but helped anyway. I soon felt droplets on my legs and arms. It started raining, slowly at first. You wouldn't really notice unless you watched the water for ripples, but then it started pouring down - full on.

"You were saying?" he shouted, through the pounding of the rain as we ran back through the bushes. The meadow even looked pretty when it rained, with droplets hanging from the leaves like icicles and odd spider webs gleaming like jewels on a string. The pond rippled throughout, and the grass was covered with little drops of water. All the same, it was freezing.

It had only been raining like that for about a minute, but my hair was already soaked and hung in rat's tails. Even worse, I couldn't remember whether my mascara was waterproof or not. Niall still looked as gorgeous as ever, except his hair was flatter. Water splashed up my legs as we ran through puddles, and my feet were cold and wet. I pulled on my denim jacket, but it didn't help much. Eventually, we reached my front door. I opened it and ran in. Niall hesitated, and I pulled him in, out of the rain. I stood there, shaking with cold as I took off my sandals.

"You look a bit wet." He said, humour in his voice.

I glared at him, but couldn't help laughing when I looked in the mirror. Sure enough, my hair was in rat's tails and black streaks ran down my face.

"God, I look a mess." I growled, getting a towel from the cupboard. I threw Niall one too. I went into the downstairs bathroom to wash off my makeup, and used my hairdryer to dry my hair. Then I went upstairs and got changed. When I came back down, Niall was drying his hair with the towel.

"You want some clothes?" I asked.

He looked up at me, confused as to why my voice was serious.

"Uhh...thanks but I don't think I'd look that great in a mini-skirt." he chuckled.

I rolled my eyes. "You can borrow my brother's clothes. He's the same age as you, he left them here awhile ago." I said.

"In that case, yes please." Niall said shyly, and I threw him a t-shirt and jeans, along with a jacket. I showed him the bathroom and while he was getting changed in there, I made myself and him a hot chocolate. I sat down on the sofa and sipped it slowly.

"Thanks." he said, taking the hot chocolate and sitting down next to me.

"Sorry the picnic went kinda wrong." he said apologetically.

"It was great, just more exciting." I assured him, smiling. "Thanks for hanging out with me." I added.

"No problem, you're good fun." he replied, smiling back.

"Are you still cold?" he asked, as I shivered involuntarily.

"A little." I admitted, taking another sip of hot chocolate and putting it on the table before it burnt my hands. He moved a little closer, and put his arm around me. I couldn't help snuggling in, he was so warm.

"That better?" he asked.

"Yes, thankyou." I said happily.

He reached for the remote and turned on the TV. He started watching some programme, but I didn't really know what it was.

I ended up falling asleep with his arm around my shoulders and my head resting on his chest.
