28. ch 28

Keeve awoke under some soft silk sheets that he knew that he wasn’t backing home. He rose up onto the extravagant pillow that looked to be placed just for him to move to me commutable. London was in the chair, still in the gown that is now ruined at the bottom and chest with small stains and blood. She looked lovely in slumber since he had never seen her that way before.

She was in a blissful rest that he thought she looked like an angel that could turn into two worlds in an instant. The fact that he knew her on both sides of the coin was a wonderful thing that few would ever know that either one even existed. Her green eyes were shut to the world and he didn’t want to wake her and he tried to escape but something made him stop.

The pain from that stab that he got a while ago just then started to hurt, a lot. He looked down to see that he had a gauze where the wound was and he was amazed that he is still living for not taking care of it.  Keeve wondered why London was still there since she didn’t need to, though he is still an assassin and a devotee of The Creed.

He could hear London’s breathing that sounded like she was waking from her peaceful slumber. “Good day.” He chimed. She glanced at him with softer emeralds like they were saying hello for her. She moved her arms up to stretch and yawned like a pirate instead of a princess.

“Glad to see you awake.” She said and started to come to Keeve. He still liked the way she walked and everything about her was elegant right then then he looked down at his marking just before she spun him over for a quick kiss on the lips.

He knew that he couldn’t have her. He was a Creed and she was a Lady, an outsider. He knew that he married her that it would be as a pitiful thin to do to The Creed. He glanced at his wanted wife but he knew he had a choice but that choice in within the religion.

“I am glad to be awake.” Keeve chimed to make the want to move away that way London would know where he was going and understand.

“Well, you think a meal is in order?” Lum chimed and Keeve didn’t feel like eating since he knew that he had to get moving.

“I don’t think that is necessary.” Keeve huffed.

“Well then can you stay a few days? You will be my honored guest of my abode.” London suggested and Keeve started to become saddened that he couldn’t change the rules of The Creed.

“I can’t.” Keeve sighed as he got up from the bed and started to the window. The sun was starting to shine the brightest though the glass and say that it was a wonderful day but Keeve wished it was night to make it easy for him to sneak away from London right then. “I have to go back.”

“To The Creed?” Lum chimed and wrapped her arms around Keeve and suggested the craziest idea that he had ever heard.  “I can go with you. We can become assassins, together.” She rambled.

Keeve broke the hold and held her hands in his. Lum’s eyes were full of tears and his were trying to escape but he was trying to stay strong and that The Creed hates people that brake down. He knew she was a witness that he is letting go and it pained him to do that but there had to be someone that had become a sacrifice to The Creed to take both of their places.

“I can’t. My religion won’t let us.” Keeve sighed and Lum was starting to let tears run down her face.

“Well then what do we do? I am a witness.” Lum choked out and Keeve held her close to his body.

“Say goodbye and not mention any of this to anyone. Make it an order to your guards.” Keeve suggested and London didn’t like that at all as now he two was not willing to let go, but he knew The Creed would be after him if he didn’t let her go.

“Goodbye, Why? Why do we have to say goodbye while we had been together so long and worked so hard to make this work.” London over exaggerated to make Keeve feel bad and it worked.

“It’s the way the Creed works.” He sighed and tried his best to squeak out something positive but it came choppy. “Besides, soon both of us might be able to marry someday.”

“Why now? We should break The Creed! You can live with me in secrete.” London shrieked and it didn’t faze Keeve for once.

“But my marking will and me living with you would be obvious that I had left a witness and more assassins would come.” Keeve chimed and London looked away in defeat but seemed to remember one more thing that she can use to counter.

“We can hide it.” London chimed and Keeve was devastated that she was trying so hard to keep him with her but He was just trying to protect them.

“No we can’t. London, Lum, I love you and you love me. Remember the three stars. Remember what I said about them. I will see them and so will you.” Keeve sighed and Lum knew what was going to happen next.

“But Keeve…” Lum trailed and Keeve held her the closest he ever pulled someone as he shed a few tears for her.

“I’m sorry that it has to be this way.” He interrupted her.

“It doesn’t have to be.” Lum tried to resin still but as normal, it didn’t work.

“It does, it does.” Keeve assured her and she knew that Keeve was not going to budge.  She broke from the hold to not show that she was about to bawl in tears.

“I’ll go grab you a new shirt. The tailor down the hall should be done.” London chimed and left the room for a moment and came back with a dark red shirt that had gold buttons sewn in. The shirt was custom fit to Keeve since the tailor used his old shirt to make a quick pattern. It also had a hood that went over his eyes which he put over his head immediately.

“Thank you my love. Thank you for understanding.” Keeve said.

They leaned into each other and kissed. They kissed for the longest time but instead of having the bliss that they were used to. The kiss was bitter and full of regret and sadness that one wished that the other might be able to live without the other. However, they knew both of them would possibly find another person within their worlds but they wanted each other.

The regret was mostly from Keeve since The Creed likes to have its followers be pure and have no outsiders since there is a chance that there would be an unmarked Creed that would be a dishonorable act among the parents. Keeve had seen what happens to shunned parents and he did not want to be one.

The kiss was actually short lived and they locked eyes without a word. Keeve started to finally put on his shirt and thought that he might be able to stay but he pushed that thought aside before he had convinced himself to stay.  He put his leg over the rail and sat there for just a moment while Lum fallowed.

“I will look at the stars tonight.” London said and Keeve nodded since he was going to do the same anyway that noght.

“Of course caption I will look.”  Keeve said and then he went in for a true goodbye kiss but Lum didn’t want one so they settled the last one as the one that they would mark as their last kiss forever. Keeve slid down the balcony and landed quietly in a bush.

He staggered out and then looked up. London looked like a princess awaiting her prince to come back even though she knows he never will. The look on her face made Keeve cry silently as he made it back to the hideout.
