Snapbacks & Tattoos

I saw him. The boy who broke my heart. Was it really him? I couldn’t tell. As much as I hated him for breaking my heart, I wanted to see him. I couldn’t see him now. I was still wearing his favorite snapback he gave me. He would only use it against me. I shouldn’t care but I do. I was best friends with his sister, who never told him that she’s still friends with me. I was grateful for that, the only thing that boy did to me was break me down. And it was the worst 2 years ever, so demanding and controlling. Since he was living on LA with that band of his, he was never home. His family and mine had been close for as long as I could remember. And I was thankful nothing changed after he broke me. We lived in Mullingar, so I didn’t keep myself from his family. Only when he visited once in a blue moon. And this would be his second visit. And something told me he was going to toy with my heart and emotions again. Will I forgive him and take him back?

4. Chapter 3

I walked downstairs. I saw Dylan staring down Niall. As Niall avoided his eye contact. He saw me coming from the hallway. He just smiled at me.

“Can I talk to you?”

“Depends, why should I give you the time?” I say.

“Please” he pleaded.

“Fine… Speak.” I said.

I heard Dylan laughing behind me from my attitude.

“I wanted to apologize.”

“I know what I did wasn’t right. And I wanted to tell you I’m sorry.”

This took me by surprise. I slightly smiled at him.

“What took so long?”

“I wanted to do it face to face.”

“How do I know your being sincere?”

“I don’t know, you can start by forgiving me.”

I looked at him. Oh, that puppy dog face.

“Fine, but seriously Niall, Leave James alone.”

“Because he was there for my when you broke me. And has been there ever since.”

I snapped.

He smiled and I smiled back.

“Forgive me?”

“I forgive you Niall.”

He smiled again. He has that kind of smile that could fool anyone. Even me.

“Why not.” I said.

We both hugged his chin on the top of my head and the side of my head on his chest. I went to release, but he didn’t let go.

“Time to go Niall.” Samantha said.

He let go, and I just stood there as he left. When he was gone I went upstairs.

“So?” James said when I laid back down.

Before I could answer, Sam came in.

“You don’t really forgive him, do you?” she asked.

“Oh, no of course not.”

“Then why did you tell him that?”

“Because he wasn’t going to give up until I forgive him. As far as he needs to know he is forgiven.”

“Oh, smart.” She complimented.

“I don’t think I’ll ever forgive him, but as far as he knows he is and he will leave us alone for the summer.” I explained.

“Ok, well goodnight guys.” She said leaving.

“So he’s going to leave us alone?” James questioned.

He scoffed.

“I’ll believe it when I see it.”

I didn’t answer.

“Time to go!” we heard Dylan yell at us.

James got up and collected his things. I just lay in bed watching him.

“Goodnight, babe.”

“Want me to walk you out?”

“Nah, you’re so tired. Just relax and go to bed. Sweet dreams. Love ya.” He said leaving.

I crawled under the covers.

“Love you too, James.”
