When the bets over, he has one of the biggest decisions he'll ever have to make: leave her or hold on for as long as he can.

29. Chapter 29

I leave for the start of our tour to proceed tomorrow, and I could tell that Hope was having some trouble grasping the entire idea, so I invited her over to the hotel the day I left. I had planned with her that we'd spend every second together until my plane is no longer on the ground.

"Hey," I greeted her with a playful smirk when I opened the door for her. She smiled and tilted her head down to hide her evident blush.

"Hey," she replied, her voice a bit shaky. "Um, I brought over some movies for us to watch," she told me whilst rummaging through her huge bag filled with items that were to be used for today.

"You sure brought enough snacks," I said, my voice laced with a chuckle. Hope let her head drop while a blush flooded her pale cheeks. "Thank you," I whispered as I took a step closer.

"Your welcome," she replied, her eyes focused on mine.

The way she knew what I was talking about without even having to say anything more than a simple thank you. Beautiful.

Hope had begged that we watch a chick flick. I would've further protested, but she gave me the cutest face in protest. I couldn't argue any farther.

"Can we watch Safe Haven?" she asked, her captivating brown eyes grasping a gorgeous twinkle.

"Seriously?" I asked, throwing my head back just to keep my eyes away from hers.

"Please?" she begged, stepping closer to me with her hands clasped at her chest.

"Fine," I groaned, my voice filled with amusement. Hope smiled and clapped her hands.

"You're the bomb!" she squealed, causing me to chuckle.

The movie was finished, and Hope was sound asleep on my chest. I glanced over to the clock on the microwave and read six o'clock. I nudged Hope's shoulder a bit, trying to be gentle.

"Hope," I whispered in her ear and gently pushed again. "Hope," I said a bit louder. She shook her head and rubbed her nose against my stomach.

"Leave me alone," she grumbled, smacking my torso. I winced and shook her again.

"Hope, I have to leave in a half hour. Please, get up." She sighed, grumbled once more under her breath, and rose her body up. She rubbed her eyes with her tiny, balled up fists. "You look so cute when you're sleepy," I snickered as I punched her cheeks. She swatted my hands away with a glare.

"Why'd you wake me up?" she groaned. She stumbled over to the mirror next to the bathroom and cringed at her reflection. I had trouble finding what she was afraid of because I thought that she looked stunning.

"I have to leave. Our flight leaves at nine and it's six. And if you add up the math, it'll take us an hour to get there and an hour through security and bag checking and all that jazz. I have to leave in about a half hour." Hope's gloomy face drooped even farther down.

"I forgot you were leaving," she whispered, almost like she was reminding herself of the news. I sighed and moved closer next to her. She was slouched down on the floor with her back up against the couch.

"Hope," I said, pushing a few strands of her hair away from her breathtaking face, "I'll be back literally before you know it. When I'm on my break in three months, I'll come here to visit you for as long as I can. I promise," I assured her, stroking her cheek with my fingers. Hope now had her head rested in my lap and her legs sprawled out on the floor.

"Why do you do this to me?" she groaned, obviously joking. I just wasn't in the mood to laugh at that moment.

"Because I want you to be happy. I could've just said 'Adios Señora!' but I didn't do that." My voice was shaky by the end of my spiel. I was now on my feet, my hands locked behind my head.

"Why didn't you?" she asked, her eyes locked with mine. I opened my mouth and then closed it.

"Why would I, Hope?" I yelled, my voice now sounding more aggravated than before. "I mean....look at you!" I shut my Louth once I realized how terrible that sounded. Her mouth dropped. "Hope," I said, walking towards her.

Hope was up and at the counter before I could even blink. She was throwing all of her stuff back into her bag. "Luke," she said, exasperated and tired. "Just stop, please I understand how you see me now. I'm sorry for being a charity case. I will try harder next time," she spat out, her eyes squinted.

"Hope, no! Wait!" I shouted out for her as she slammed the door behind her.

I sat down on the couch, pushing my hands through my hair. I stood up and then sat back down. The door flung open, bringing me quickly to my feet.

"Hope?" I asked? Ashton shook his head.

"What the hell just happened, Luke? I heard you yelling. What did you say to her now?" Ashton took a seat next to me.

"I'm a fucking idiot," I groaned. My hands found their way to my hair once again, creating even more of a mess on my head. "Why do I always screw up?" I asked Ashton, my voice cracking with every word. "She asked why I didn't leave her and came back, and I gave her an idiot answer that was supposed to be heartfelt." Ashton shook his head and sighed. "Look at you. That's what I said to her," I breathed out, my eyes focused on my intertwined hands.

"Luke," he groaned with his head thrown back. "What did she say after that?" I laughed in the most unhappy tone ever.

"She got up, apologized for acting like a charity case, and left." Ashton shook his head for about the thousandth time. "I'm such an idiot."

"Well, why don't you go talk to her?" He questioned. I looked at him with stony eyes.

"That sounds like a great idea," I replied, my voice dropping with sarcasm before I finished, "if I want to get my face beaten in by her." I let out a heavy breath. "I'm going to call her once we land tomorrow. Hopefully....hopefully she picks up." Ashton nodded his head and rested his hand on my shoulder. He gave it a squeeze.

"She'll come around. How couldn't she?" He kneeled down and punched my cheeks with a smile. "We leave in twenty minutes, so be ready!" he called, pointing a finger in the air.

"Okay," I whispered, touching a finger to my burning cheek.
