Silenced Heart

Luke Hemmings loves the fame. The sound of the girls screaming his name and the flashing lights. His band members see this, so they make a bet. If he can last without the fame, he'll be paid. Luke goes back to school, and he meets a girl who flips his entire world upside down. When the bets over, he has one of the biggest decisions he'll ever have to make: leave her or hold on for as long as he can.

1. Chapter 1

Calum took a sip from his water bottle while sending me a glare.

"You'd never be able to live without the fame," he scoffed with a roll of his brown eyes.

"Pfft. Yes I would," I replied quite cockily. He sent me another soft glare.

"No you wouldn't, Luke," Ashton jumped in. "You love all of the girls and the flashing lights. You couldn't go one day." I was getting annoyed. They thought I was some fame-oholic. Sure, I liked it, but not as much as they thought.

"That's very true," Michael agreed. That set me off.

"Yes I could!" I yelled, making the tour bus walls shake a little. Right now we were on our way to Philadelphia for One Direction's concert at the Lincoln Financial Field. Apparently it's a very famous stadium. I was pumped to perform there tomorrow night.

"Sure," Calum grumbled. I rolled my eyes.

"Wanna bet?" Michael questioned jokingly. I nodded.

"As a matter of fact, yes, I do." Their eyes widened.

"It was a joke, mate." I shook my head.

"I'm serious. Let's bet. How much?" I asked with a serious expression. Ashton shrugged while letting out a stressed chuckle.

"Umm.....sixty bucks. How do you want to do this?" I shrugged. I was prepared for anything.

"I don't care. I just want to show you all that I don't need the fame." I crossed my arms as I felt a strong sense of power at the moment.

"Go to school again. As a normal kid. Each day we'll pay you," Calum demanded with an evil grin. I let my jaw drop.

"That's a no." They all shook their heads.

"If you want your money, you need to." I sighed in defeat. If this was how they'd see I don't need fame, fine.

"Fine. I need a disguise and a code name then." They put on their thinking faces.

"Carson Miller?" Michael asked. I smiled.

"Yeah! I like that! It sounds normal, I guess."

They all nodded, agreeing with what I said.

"We'll have to find a school." I shrugged.

"Can I go to school in Philadelphia?" I asked, hopeful to try it out.

"Umm....I guess. If we can find one." I nodded eagerly.

"Would I still be able to perform with you guys?" We were going to be in Philadelphia for only four nights. That's not enough for a whole school year. It was November right now, so I had already missed two months.

"Yeah. You'd need to be flown out. We can't miss our best guitarist!" Calum squealed. He was great with the high pitched voices. His shrill voice rang out like a Christmas bell.

"Ok," I replied cooly, though I was exploding on the inside. Both from nerves and excitement.

"I think we're here," Michael announced, looking out the window. We all followed his actions. Outside of our bus, which was pulling into a fancy hotel, were rows of thousands of screaming girls, and occasional guys, singing One Direction lyrics along with some of our songs.

A prominent smile grew on my lips. I loved this. It always gave me a certain type of rush I had never felt before. I felt loved by people I didn't even know.

"Let's get out. I think we are supposed to go in," Ashton ordered, standing up and heading to the front of the bus. Screams erupted like a police chase as Ashton swung the door open. Our body guards met with us at the door, and they guided us through the sea of people trying to grab every part of me and the other boys. Once inside, I whooped.

"That was awesome!" I screamed while racing around in a circle. The others chuckled at my behavior.

"I'm going to go sleep," Louis mumbled with his eyes half open.

"Me too," Michael agreed. Those two are always thinking. It's shocking if they get up by twelve.

"Wait! Before you guys go, we need to talk about something," Calum called. All the lads raised an eyebrow except for my band members.

"Luke is going to school. It's a long story to explain why, but he will be going to school here in Philadelphia. He will have to be flown out to perform." They nodded, probably too tired to care. We let them go to their rooms and get some rest.

The hotel let in all of the screams of the fans. There was no way to escape it. They were so loud, and this place didn't have very good soundproof walls.

I stayed up all night trying to find a school with Calum. We came across a nice high school, Manningfield High School. We agreed that I would be attending Manningfield High School for the rest of the school year.

Going to school would be weird. I haven't been to school in a while. After the lads and I had been discovered, we dropped out to fulfill our dreams. That was about two years ago. Now I'm heading back to a place I despised. It was all for money. Sometimes I'm horribly idiotic. I should've said no to this. I'm all set now, so there's no turning back.

Hey y'all! So.....yes. It's a new book! Gosh, I have such an obsession with Fanfictions. I really need to get some help. Well, hope you enjoy. Please read and favorite!

P.S. The high school name is fake. I just made it up.
