Rebellious Rebellious Veronica

- "Just tell me what I have to do. Just tell me. Please! I-- I don't know... I don't remember anything! None of this nonsense you guys are making me believe.
Maybe, I don't know the rights and wrongs as I think I do right now. I'm begging you, just please tell me, guide me or something! Give me directions. I can't do this on my own."
"Believing what's right isn't enough Vera. You have to remember. Because if you don't, no one will or can tolerate a fake act."

16. Chapter 10

My eyes fluttered open like a hawk setting to fly, leaving behind a tornado of white and coal gray wings. I take a deep breath and my insides itch from the burning left behind. Like alcohol being poured on a bloody cut. I tilt my head to take a look of my surroundings. My neck is sore and my eyes are watery red. I try to blink away the bubbles in my eyes or atleast let them out.

No luck.

I retreat back from trying. Instead I just stare at the ceiling. It looked calmer. No burning bright yellow lightbulb. No sweat and wetness. A swift cool wave came from the open door and I couldn't help but wonder if the main door was open with a beautiful garden and kids to run and play in. The heavy dizziness came back.

My eyes closed again and they wouldn't open. It was like they were glued shut by an adversary, no matter how hard I tried.

"The alcohol is wearing out."

"How long?"

"Three at the most."

Silence followed. An awkward one as I fought to keep my ears open. My eyes were still patched together. It was the first conversation I had heard in forever.

"After that?"

"We still have another chance, if this doesn't wo-"

"NO DOC! I'm done! This is enough. You're drugs might as well just kill her about the same."

A sight.

"If she wakes up from the drug all fine were lucky. But, if she wakes up and goes back to wild and burning inside her, I don't know what to do anymore…

We could always use the Spirit Candle Broughters. We'll at least have a higher chance."

A growl.

"But, she could live in harmony for the rest of her life!"

"She's the Tendril, Max. Is that going to matter for anyone with exception of a few?"

"No one-" followed by a sight. "She's The Tendril... Nothing can happen to her."

"Listen, if she remembers. All we're asking here is for her to remember, before all that time. I'd say she remembers her father and childhood."

What's going on??

Of course I remember my father and childhood.

"If she remembers you-... We have a chance."

"And what if she doesn't?"

An old and croaky voice sights.

"You could bring her back Max. Only you can. Out of everyone in the whole world, only you have the power."

"I don't know."

"We could keep her listening for a few hours after the alcohol wears out. Keep her concentrated with Kimsos."

"A shot?"

"Is that strong enough?"

"It's the best bet with got, other than making her live in regret for the rest of her life."

A sight continues and dead silence comes creeping back in.

Who is Max. Who is Doc?

I do not know anything. And it's too causal to say that I am lost.

Heaven sure is an odd old place...
