11. Chapter 5: A Dark Shadow

Days passed by, Darkness soon healed up making a good recovery. But Larria Westwood remained asleep, groaning every known again. Darkness looks around the cave, realizing the pack was slowly building up, but still far too small. He looked down at Larria Westwood, shaking, twisting, and turning in agony. He said with a sigh "a dying wolf is no  kind of protection, we need more pack members". Evening Star said commandingly, as she continued to look after Larria Westwood "take Lana, and Midnight Rogue with you".

Darkness crossly said "oh no you don't! I'm going alone, so the new girls can protect you and our cubs! You can't tend to Larria Westwood's needs alone!" Evening Star lunched towards Darkness, making herself look big shouting "fine! But you are to take at least one of the girls, you decide who!" Darkness looked from Lana, to Midnight Rogue. He said thoughtfully aloud "you move objects" looking at Lana, "and you see the future" looking at Midnight Rogue.

Darkness said cleverly "I've chosen to take Lana with me, because Midnight Rogue will sense Shire Terror coming to the cave before it happens, giving you time to save yourself, and the cubs". Evening Star smiled and said "good thinking, now get going, Shire Terror could arrive any day now. We need more pack members". With that Darkness left the cave, Lana following close behind him. They walked on in the cold wind for ages before they came across any civilization. But to their dismay it was only a little mouse. It stopped before them both, Darkness growled, and then the mouse squeaked once, and scurryed desperatly away.

Lana stopped for a moment. "Do you see that?" Darkness looked in the direction Lana was looking. He saw an elderly grey wolf walking uneasily through the snow. Close behind him was a young female black wolf. At first Darkness only thought it was the old wolf's shadow. To Darkness and Lana's horror the elderly wolf suddenly swung round, and began savagly attacking the young female wolf. The black wolf yelped in terror, as the elderly wolf shook her around aggressivly. Darkness said quickly "I have to stop this!" He ran out of his hiding place, Lana running after him.

Darkness lunged himself at the elderly wolf's throat, pushing him off of the young black wolf. The elderly wolf cried out "what the hell do you think your playing at!" Darkness pinned him down and said with rage "I was thinking the same thing! Why are you attacking your daughter like that for no reason?!" The elderly wolf said crossly "my daughter?! I don't even knoe her, and she keeps stalking me!" Lana shouted defencively as she reassured the black wolf "that still gives you no right to attack an innocent wolf!" Darkness let the elderly wolf go as he shook himself off and shouted "just keep that evil menace away from me, when she's near I feel like shes draining my life away. Just look at her devilish red eyes! She no wolf, she's the devil in disguise!"

Darkness looked at the black wolf, sure enough her eyes were completly red, but Darkness snorted and said "don't be ridiculous! Just go away, she's in our care now!" Lana looked lovingly at the black wolf sayinh sweetly "now don't you worry, your coming home with us". Lana lovingly licked at the deep wound across the black wolf's left eye, and across her muzzle. The black wolf whimpering in pain. "What's your name?" Darkness asked politely. The black wolf looked up and said "Shadow". Darkness laughed and said sarcastically "that makes sense then". Lana crossly said "theres no time for those kind of jokes! Let's just get her home to Evening Star". Darkness led the way, Lana followed beside him, and Shadow stalked close behind on their tails. Lana kindly said "thers no need to follow behind us, come walk between us both". Shadow felt loved as she smiled, and obeyed Lana's command.
