7. Dinner in all it's glory

I arrived at the dining area to all of my crew sat down eating dinner. The table was laden with many different foods some of which I could not dream of naming. They looked very peculiar, tiny vegetables floated around in a pinkish gravy like mixture...

The main course was a bed of rice with beef and ginger stir fry - I had eaten this dish a hundred times in the chippy down the road. Either way it was the most delicious version of this meal I had ever tasted.

After dinner we departed and I explored the cabin. I didn't get very far as I reached an area laden with sweet pastries. Gorging myself more than ever before I sat down on one of the couches, completely content.

Soon after the rest of the crew joined me and Effie turned on what I assumed was the television. It was more of a holographic image. I believe Katniss had one of these, just not as big nor as clear. District by district we began to watch the reapings. Large characters like Cato and deadly girls like Glimmer gave me a fright. How was I supposed to kill these people? It would be impossible. The hardest was when a young girl of about twelve was selected from district 11. Rue was her name, the sunlight bounced of her chocolate skin. She was too young, too innocent to participate. But if I was to ever leave this place, she would have to die to. All I could hope for was that it wouldn't be by my hands.

After we had finished watching the reaping Haymitch left and me and Peeta wandered back to our lodgings. He attempted to make conversation on the way there.. "So, an interesting few people In there this year? There are some strong ones but the younger ones should be easy to pick off right?" That just pushed the button, whether he meant it or not I swear I almost wrung his neck.. "HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT! THEY ARE YOUNG AND INNOCENT AND DONT DESERVE TO BE HERE! WHERE IS YOUR HUMANITY!" By that point I was virtually screaming at him. What was this guys problem? He couldn't actually think this was ok, surely? So he whispered to me "Well fine, if you want to go die out there, be my guest. I actually value my life." So telling back as he walked away "SO DO I! But I don't relish the fact that I'm going to murder other people!" These people are insane...
