Daniel has a secret. It's not one of those secrets that he will die of embarrassment if anyone found out, it's a secret that could kill him. This secrets name is Desdemona. A demon in the form of a 17 year old girl who has ben appointed as the right hand of the devil himself. She has confided in Daniel for help, but for something he can't help her with. Or so he thinks...

16. Shrimps Get in the Back

Desdemona had no words. All she could do look at Danny and smile. It was Andy who finally cleared his throat.

"Enough of this sappy shit. Lets get this show on the road."

"Yeah, Alexandra made me promise to leave once you got here." Daniel said to Mona.

"Alexandra. She's an angel. She was here she was very nice."

"Dan, what did you tell her?"

"I told her I was here with my friend Mona, and I think she knew who you were. She told me I could stay until you got back but I had to leave right away."

Mona and Andy exchanged looks. "Maybe she won't say anything." Mona suggested.

"We still can't take any chances."

"Jesus, she's the guardian of mankind. She CAN'T do anything."

"We still gotta leave."

"Fine." Mona led the way out the door as Andy and Daniel followed.

Mona grabbed the passenger door handle as Andy's hand immediately wrapped around on top of her hand.

He was so tall he had to bend down to really make eye contact with her. "Shrimps get in the back." Mona's mouth dropped.

"I'm technically not a shrimp. You should know that."

He raised his opposite hand that wasn't grasping Mona's as it slowly began to burn a familiar blue. Desdemona growled and yanked her hand free from his grasp and opened the door to the backseat. The last thing she heard before she shut the door was Andy's smug laugh.

"Sorry." Daniel was looking back at her from the driver's seat sympathetically.

"No biggie." Mona said through gritted teeth.

Andy opened the passenger seat door and plopped down onto the seat. "You know Desdemona you should really start getting out of the habit of taking orders from people." Mona could see him winking at her in the rearview mirror.

"You're a royal ass hole you know that?" Mona spat at Andy.

"Hey guys. Let's stop." Daniel interjected.

The three of them sat in tense silence for severel seconds.

"Are you going to start the car or what?" Mona asked.

"Oh uh, yeah." Dan started the car and began to drive. "Where are we going now?"

"I know where we are going. Just drive." Mona commanded.

"I want to know where we are going. before I start driving."

"She's already pissed. If I were you I wouldn't piss her off anymore than she is now." Andy warned.

Dan sighed and stared at the road ahead.

"I'm not pissed Andy."

"Oh really?" Andy asked sarcastically.

"I'm annoyed. Extremely annoyed. With you."

"I have been nothing but nice to you Desdemona."

"Seriously?! You have been a complete and utter asshole!"

Andy turned around and looked Mona in the eyes, their bright red color seemed to burn into his soul. "You don't know anything about me. This is nice for me. You're the one who is changing that."

"It's true." Dan was looking at Mona through the rearview mirror. Why couldn't he back her up?

Mona turned her glance away from Andy and stared out the window. "You're changing how I act too, but I can't say that it's as good for me as it is for you."

Andy laughed and turned to face forward.

"Mona I have a question."

She turned to face Dan again.

"When we first got here you said that the reason your eyes turned black is out of respect for the reapers. Why aren't they black? You keep changing them."

"It's because I keep pissing her off. Either I'm strong enough to change her eye color or her feelings for me are strong enough to change her eye color."

"Andy be quiet." Dan snapped.

"Mona glowered and spat back: "as much as I would like to deny it he's right."

"Of course I am" Andy bragged.

"Fuck you Andy." Mona spat.

"You wish you could."

"HEY THAT'S ENOUGH" Daniel slammed the brakes of the car. "I'm not going to be babysitting you too the entire drive to wherever we are going. BOTH of you need to grow up and just GET ALONG. At least for the length of the car ride."

Neither Mona or Andy said anything.

Dan sighed and began driving again. "This is going to be a long drive."
