Daniel has a secret. It's not one of those secrets that he will die of embarrassment if anyone found out, it's a secret that could kill him. This secrets name is Desdemona. A demon in the form of a 17 year old girl who has ben appointed as the right hand of the devil himself. She has confided in Daniel for help, but for something he can't help her with. Or so he thinks...

21. Fire Thing

"God's a woman?"

Mona laughed. "Obviously."

"But..the bible always said God was a man."

"Yes well people always seem to adapt better to a male authority figure. She doesn't mind it, in fact she finds people's reactions quite humorous."

"So is that the real reason Lucifer left Heaven?" Dan asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Did Lucifer and God have a thing?"

"He's a sharp one." Andy stated.

"Yes Dan." Mona answered. "Lucifer and God were madly in love at one time. She had always been more powerful than him and he always resented it. Lucifer is a selfish person. He doesn't like to be second best. Although the love they shared was strong Lucifer's thirst for power was stronger and he got an army together and tried to take down God...I think you know the rest of he story."

"That's incredible." Dan breathed.

"You're only just starting to learn about our world." Mona grinned as she grabbed Andy's hand.

"Our world, that you have become a part of." Andy looked to his brother and smiled.

Dan smiled back. "And you have become apart of my world. Again."

The three stood in silence until Dan finally spoke up. "So what do we do now?"

"Well for now I think we should go home. To your home I mean. But your car clearly isn't going to do that." She teased.

"Yeah well you can thank Andy for that." Dan said as he glared at his brother.

"That's not even fair-"

"Both of you shut up! We were having a really nice moment and then your damn sibling rivalry had to ruin it!" Mona yelled.

Both Andy and Dan looked down to the ground. "Sorry" The muttered simultaneously.

Mona took a deep breathe and held her hand out to Daniel. "I can get us there in seconds."

Dan's eyes widened. "You mean the fire thing?"

"Well I'm not sure if it's fire anymore but yes something like that."

Dan backed up against his car. "No I'm not doing that."

Mona dropped her hand and put it on her hip. "Dan don't make things difficult the worst you could do is throw up and there is even a way to prevent that once you get used to it."

"How do you know that?"

"Because I do." Mona sassed.

"Gee well how could I argue with that."

Mona dropped Andy's hand and walked up to Dan. She rested her hand on his shoulder and continued: "I promised that I wouldn't let Lucifer kill you, didn't I?"

"Well are you dead?"

Mona grinned and threw her arms in the air. "Well then how could you argue with that?"

Dan rolled his eyes. "Fine. But if I die then my ghost is going to haunt forever."

"We've had this conversation before stupid ghosts aren't real."

"Whatever. Just get this over with."

Mona grabbed Dan's hand and dragged him back over to Andy. She then grabbed Andy's hand and looked back and forth at the brothers, concern painted on her face. "I'm going to count to three, and when I reach three hold your breath and close your eyes. It will go fast you won't even feel anything. It may burn a bit, but nothing life threatening. Ready?"

Both the boys nodded.

"Okay. 1. 2." Mona paused and looked to Daniel. "3." Both the boys closed their eyes and gasped as the held their breath. An elegant white flame wrapped around the three, and they disappeared. Leaving behind not a burn on the ground but a sparkling glow that slowly evaporated in a few seconds.

A white flame erupted in the middle of Dan's living room and three people appeared. Andy and Dan crouched over gasping for air, not used to the feeling of Mona's newfound Angelic transportation. Mona laughed as Andy and Daniel slowly sat down onto the couch and slowed their breathing.

"Well what did you think?" Mona asked.

"I've never felt anything like it."  Dan gasped.

"It. Was. AWESOME." Andy got up off the couch and wrapped his arms around Mona's waist.

Dan slowly got up off the couch. "Well I'm glad you enjoyed it." Dan pulled his cellphone out of his pocket and plugged it into the charger. "My phone died on the drive to the safe house and I've been without it since."

"Well I can't think of anyone has missed you too much." Andy teased. Mona's mouth dropped and she playfully slapped him across the face. Andy laughed. "Well you can't say it's not true!"

Daniel rolled his eyes as he looked down at his phone. It was still turning on. "Mona when are you going to fix my home phone? " He asked.

She looked down to the puddle of hardened plastic that was still stuck to the floor. She raised her eyebrows as Andy released his grasp on her. "I could do that now actually." Mona walked over to the puddle and knelt down beside it. She rested the palm of her hand on the puddle and it started to glow a bright, brilliant white. The hardened plastic seemed to retract into her hand and in a matter of seconds she stood up and held up Dan's old home phone. "Your welcome." She said as she put the phone back onto the receiver. The screen of the phone lit up, and a robotic woman's voice sounded. "You have 7 unheard messages."

"Uh oh Dan." Mona said as she pressed button on the receiver. "Sounds like your bitch."

"Hey Dan, it's Laura." When Laura said her name on the message Mona threw her arms up and did a silent touch down dance. "I was just calling to say sorry, I stopped by today and you weren't home. I'm worried Dan and I'm sorry I blew up on you like that. Please call me back."

"Next unheard message." Said the woman's robotic voice.

"Daniel it's Laura again. I came by your house again and you weren't home, and you won't answer your phone. Please call me Dan you can't say mad forever."

The three of them stood and listened to Laura's desperate messages, each one sounding just like the other. Until they got to the last message.

"I knew you weren't going to pick up Dan but it's been 2 days."

"This must be from this morning" Andy whispered.

"Some really weird things have been happening ever since you left or whatever and I'm scared Daniel. Pick up the phone I need to talk to someone, anyone." She paused for awhile. "Well I guess that's it the huh? Call me back soon...I guess."

All three of them stood in silence until Dan picked up his cell phone. "I should call her back."

"What are you going to tell her?" Mona asked.

"Tell her you had to pick me up." Andy interrupted.

Daniel nodded as he dialed Laura's number and waited for her to pick up. "Daniel!" He heard Laura's voice.

"Hey Laura."

"Where have you been?"

"It be better to explain if you came here."

"Okay. I'll be there in a few minutes."
