The New Me... Again

The story of a teenage girl with an ambition to be on broadway. Realising that dedication and hard work is the key to her success, she has but a few months before the audition that would change her life forever...

1. A New Year

My fourteenth New Years Day... the same as last year, and the year before that. Here is how my New Year is spent:

Promising myself that this was the last day I was to eat fatty food, then attempting to eat as many hot dogs as possible as a farewell.

Spending all night on Instagram, my cat on one side, the remains of my Christmas chocolates on the other.

Making a list of all the reasons why I am not perfect, and finding ways to resolve these imperfections for the on-coming year.

It was 4:00 in the morning on the 1st of January; too late to fall back asleep, yet too early to make breakfast. Finally that year I had decided to not make any resolutions. It was going to end in a week anyway with a "Oh well, maybe next year." Restless in my bed, I had come to the decision that if wasn't going to have a resolution, at least I should try something new. Now seemed a pretty good time. I searched my room in hope to find some inspiration somehow, and then it hit me. My grandma always told me exciting stories when I was a child, telling me about her adventures on broadway, and I was always fascinated by it. Despite the stories, I had never seen a musical in my life, so I thought I would start with the on my grandma starred in. She played Christine Daae in Phantom of the Opera, a musical about "Love and loss" as she would say. An avalanche of dust attacked me as I searched for the DVD given to me for my birthday in June. It was titled in angelic, bold writing which said 'Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary' and underneath 'Starring Sierra Boggess as Christine Daee, Ramin Karimloo as the Phantom, and Hadley Fraser as Raol.' My heart skipped a beat.
