5. Just The Girls

~Michelle's pov~

I sat in my car waiting for a couple of minutes. I just sat there, thinking. About what? Well, I'm not so sure myself. But I was mostly thinking about how tonight is going to go. I have a feeling everyone will ask about me and Derek's "friendship." We're just good friends; best friends even. But everyone else says otherwise. The problem is, I'm not sure I can deny it all that much...

I shook my head. This is NOT the night to be worrying about this stuff.

I turned up my radio. They were playing Maroon 5, and I decided to jam out in my car on the way to the mall.

About thirty minutes later, I arrived at the mall and got the best parking spot ever. I just love the little things like that.

I got my phone out and texted Kearra: Hey gurlllll. Where are we meeting at exactly..?

A couple minutes later my phone buzzed with an incoming text from Kearra: I'm pretty suree we're all meeting at the food court. That's where I am right now. U comin?

I texted back saying I was on my way in the mall and headed inside. The mall looked somehow bigger than I remembered, either that or I really need to get out more often.

I headed up the stairs, and down the hall to the large food court ahead of me. It was Friday, so of course there was going to be a lot of people crowded in this mall. I looked around for about 5 minutes until I spotted Kearra and Sydney eating at a booth.

I walked up to them and sat next to Sydney. "Hey girlies."

Sydney smiled at me with ketchup in between her teeth. "Hola chica."

"Hey Michelle."

"What's the plan for tonight?" I asked.

"Well, Hallie, Lexy, Sadie, and Carissa still need to show up. Then we'll probably do some shopping for a couple hours. And probably go boy hunting too." Her and Sydney giggled.

"Oh, but wait," Sydney started, "You can't go boy hunting, you already have two boyfriends. That's not even fair!" Sydney burst out with laughter.

Kearra chuckled. "That's true. So you're not allowed to do any boy hunting with us. You can just sit in the corner."

I frowned. "Guys, me and Derek are JUST FRIENDS. We've been friends forever. There's nothing more to it. I promise."

Kearra looked at me more seriously this time. "Don't make promises you can't keep."

I just stared at her. What did she mean by that? I don't get her sometimes. Me and Derek have nothing going on. We've basically been friends since we were born. There's no sparks between us, no fireworks. I'm with Saxon. Only Saxon. I love him...at least I'm pretty sure I do...

Kearra looked up from her phone. "Lexy and Hallie are on their way. Sadie is in line right now at Subway over there. And I have no clue where Carissa is right now."

A couple of minutes Sadie joined us with her subway foot long sandwich. My stomach growled and I realized how hungry I was. But I decided to wait and save my money for when we go shopping.

We chit chatted for a while, and eventually Carissa came, along with Lexy and Hallie. We went store to store, trying on clothes, messing with the workers. Sadie and Hallie flirted with a couple guys here and there, and eventually I decided to drive everyone back to Kearra's for the night.

We were sitting in the car, and before I started it, I looked at my phone and saw that I had one missing phone call from Saxon. Oh well. It's not like he really is going to want me to call him back with all the guys there anyway.

We arrived at Kearra's house, got settled in, and decided to play the easy game of 21 questions.

Sadie turned to me. "Okay Michelle, you HAVE to tell the truth, got it? Tell me, do you have feelings for Derek?"

Okay, I take that back.

Maybe it's not that easy.
