Layne Carter has had a difficult past two years. After the death of her father and her mother leaving, she is left to raise her 11 year old sister. What happens when Layne comes in contact with the boy of her dreams?

11. Eleven

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"Out with a friend," He said, "I'll leave you the car."

"I love you," I said.

"I love you too," He smiled.

I knew he was lying. It wasn't me he loved anymore. He loved Caroline. I followed him down to the lobby without him seeing me. He jumped into a white audi and drove away. I ran out to my car and followed them out of the hotel. I stayed a good distance behind them so he wouldn't know I was there.

We drove down familiar roads. We reached a dirt road to a place I had been. The same road that leads down to the lake. I stayed down at the end of the road and parked the car. I walked slowly down the dirt road and sat behind a bush where I could still see him.

She grabbed his hand and he sat down beside her. He pulled his hand away and looked around him. She started talking. He was looking deeply into her eyes, the way he use to look at me. Nothing interesting was happening. I was about to get up and walk back to the car when I saw her kiss him, but he didn't push her away. I jumped up from the ground and started back towards the car.

"Layne," I heard Louis shout.

I didn't turn around. I just kept walking. I felt him run up to me and grab my hand.

"Layne let me explain," He said.

I stopped walking and gave him a nasty look, "You don't need to explain anything."

I jerked my hand away from him and got back into the car. I drove back to the hotel with tears streaming from my eyes. I could hardly see because off all of the tears. I arrived back at the hotel safely. I went back into the room and pulled out my notebook. I liked to design clothes when I was sad. It always made me feel better.

I sat alone in the room for almost 2 hours before Louis returned. He came and sat down beside me and put his hand on my knee.

"Layne. Can I please talk to you?" He said.

"Whatever," I said.

"It wasn't what it looked like," He said.

"Sure it wasn't," I said, "That's what they all say right?"

"How long have you been seeing her?" I asked.

"I went out with her maybe twice," He said biting his lip.

I shook my head in disbelief, "How could you?"

"Layne. I'm not going to see her again. She isn't important."

"If she isn't important, why were you with her and kissing her?"

"I think you're forgetting who has the ring on their finger right now. It isn't her."

I didn't say anything. We sat in silence for hours while I worked on some designs. I had nothing left to say. I was broken and didn't feel like myself anymore. Louis started to text someone again. I ignored it. I really didn't want to know.

He jumped up and went down to the café, leaving his phone with me once again. I knew I shouldn't do what I was about to do, but it didn't stop me. I picked up his phone and went through his messages.

I need to see you -Caroline Daniels

Lou, why can't you see she is wrong for you -Caroline Daniels

Please talk to me :( -Caroline Daniels

Meet me at Carver's Steakhouse at 8. I need to talk to you -Louis Tomlinson

I'll come get you at 7:30 -Caroline Daniels

That probably isn't a good idea with Layne being here. I'll just meet you there. -Louis Tomlinson

Louis came back into the room and sat down beside me.

"I love you Layne. I'm not going to see her again," He said.

"Promise?" I asked.

He kissed me and pulled me into a hug. I felt no spark that I once felt with him. Everything I had once felt was gone.

"I'm gonna go out for dinner," He said, "Do you want me to bring you something?"

"Nope," I said, "I'm going somewhere."

I picked up my phone and called Perrie.

"Perrie, Louis is cheating," I said.

"He isn't the type," She stammered.

"I saw it," I said.

I went on to explain what had happened and how I was feeling. We talked about what I should do about it. There was only one thing to do. I hung up the phone and called someone else.

"Hey, can you do me a huge favor?" I asked.

Louis POV

I sat down across the table from Caroline. What did I ever see in this girl? After almost losing Layne, I've come to realize Caroline is nothing but a bitch. She only wanted me for my fame before, and thats what she wants now. How could I be so blind?

"We need to talk," I said sternly.

"About what honey?" She said batting her eyelashes at me.

"I can't do whatever this is," I said.

"You're my boyfriend babe. We're perfect," She said smiling.

"I'm not your boyfriend and nothing about this is perfect," I said, "I turned to you when I needed someone to talk to and all you did was take advantage of me. I was vulnerable. I hung out with you as a friend and then you kissed me. I didn't know what to do."

"So you don't like me but you like that ugly Layne girl?"

"I love Layne. She is a nice person unlike you," I jumped up from the table and went out to my car. She followed me into the parking lot and screamed at me. She always loved to make a scene.

I couldn't wait to get back to the hotel and talk to Layne. She was my true other half. I wanted to be with her forever. I don't know what I would do without her.

I drove past the hotel and back to the Tiffany store. I walked up to the door as they were locking it. It was the same lady that sold me the band.

"Please let me in," I said, "I need to buy something and I need it now."

I walked into the store and picked out the biggest diamond ring I could find. I needed to ask Layne to marry me. I couldn't let her leave over Caroline. I picked out a heart necklace and asked to have my name engraved into it.

A few minuted later everything was ready. She placed the boxes into the bag and handed it to me. I payed for everything and thanked her over and over again. I walked out the front door and back to my car.

I arrived at the hotel to see a red Range Rover parked in front of the door. There was a handsome blonde boy sitting in the drivers seat. He had the greenest eyes I've ever seen. They were more green than Harry's eyes.

I walked up to the room to see all of Layne's stuff missing from the room. She was gone. There was a note folded up on the bed. I unfolded it and the promise ring fell out.

"Louis I loved you. Obviously you didn't love me like I thought you did. I'm sorry I wasn't good enough. I'm sorry I'll never be good enough. I'll miss you.

Layne Frances Carter."

My heart shattered into a million pieces. I ran out of the room and down the stairs hoping I could catch her. I looked all around the lobby and she was no where to be seen. I walked to the front door and fell to my knees.

I couldn't get the image of Layne getting into the red Range Rover out of my head. She was leaving with someone who wasn't me.
