The Unexpected

"I don't want a pregnant, juvenile, 16 year old, apart of my family." - Justin.

4. Chapter Three

"So, this is where you'll be sleeping," Pattie trailed off, as she opened the door to a room. "I hope its okay." she smiled. "I-Its perfect." I gushed, as I looked around. This is like my dream room. I can't even describe, how happy ad thankful I am right now. I turned to look at Pattie, who was now behind me, with a smile upon her face. "Can I give you a hug?" I asked shyly. She chuckled, as she opened her arms.

I walked over, and engulfed her in a hug. "Thank you so much." I whispered in her ear, before pulling back. "I can't even- everything is just so- thank you." I smiled, giggling a bit. "I'm just lost for words." She laughed. "Its fine honey."

I smiled. "Um, do we have any plans tonight?" I asked. She nodded. "Yes we do." She smiled. "We're all having dinner tonight." I scrunched my eyebrows together. "We're?" I questioned. "The family, and crew." She spoke. "Why do you ask?" I shook my head.

"I'm having pains, and I just wanted to rest." I sighed. "But, I'll be happy to meet everyone tonight." I fakely smiled. "What time are we having it?" I asked, as I placed my hands on my baby bump. She lifted her arm, looking at the time. "Um, in about 4-5 hours?" she estimated. I did a nod with my head. "Well, I better start unpacking." I sighed, as I looked at all my boxes, and suitcases.

"You need help?" she asked, as he folded her arms. "I can have Justin come-" I stopped her right there. "I'm good." I said quickly. "I can manage this one." She gave me a slightly confused face, but nodded her head anyways. "Well, okay then, I going to go make lunch." she clasped her hands. "I'll leave you too it." She gave me one last smile before she turned around, and walked out the door, closing the door quietly behind her.

I let out a sigh, as I rubbed my stomach, placing a hand on my back. I walked over to the edge of the bed, and sat down, as I looked around once again. I still can't believe I'm out of the system. I'm not saying I won't go back in, because I'm pregnant right now, so I don't drink, I don't party, stay out all night. I haven't had sex in like 4 months, which is sort of driving me crazy.

When you're pregnant you tend to have sexual harmones, and I've been having them lately. Its just weird, and crazy to me. Anyways, I should just be blessed that a nice woman like Pattie took me in. I hope I'm here to stay.

I opened my door, and stepped out into the hall. I looked both ways, as if I was crossing the street. I huffed, as I turned, and walked down the hall, seeing the staircase I almost hated. I was breathing hard when I reached the top. I could lose 5 pounds, going up and down these things.

I shook my head, as I gripped the railing, and walked down carefully. Once I reached the bottom, I just immediately started looking for the kitchen. Me, and the baby are starving. I missed breakfast, hadn't drunk anything. I am so weak right now, like no lie.

As I continued to search, I heard tiny voices, making my open my hears more. I started walking towards the sounds. "Why her mom?" I heard a husky voice ask. "Out of all kids, why her?" Justin. I rolled my eyes, stayed put, by the kitchen entrance. "Justin," I heard a woman's voice sigh. Pattie. "She's a really sweet," she trailed off. "She has had one rough life. Just give her a chance."

I heard Justin groan. "I would have a rough life too, if I was pregnant at the age of-wait, how old is she?" "She's 16." He let out a sarcastic chuckle. "Are you serious?" I felt like he had a smirk plastered on his face. "What. A. Whore." he mumbled. I gasp silently to myself. "Justin!" Pattie snapped. "She's not one of those." she defended me. "I got pregnant with you at the age of 18, and we had a rough time, but look how you turned out now."

He sighed. "Mom, you were technically a legal adult-" "It doesn't matter. I was still a teenager." she hissed at him.

Everything wet silent. Is this the right time to walk in? "Tell me a little more about her." Justin sighed, as I also heard a chair being moved. "What's her background like?"

"Well," Pattie began. "She was arrested a couple times for selling drugs, and drinking underage but she-" "Are you kidding me?!" Justin soon yelled. "Justin, shut up for she hears us!" Pattie snapped quickly in a hush tone. "Let me finish explaining." she sighed. "She only sold drugs once, the other times is because she was with a drug dealer, or something like that?" She questioned. "I'm not completely sure, but the drinking, I don't have an actual explanation for. She was probably just-" Pattie trailed off looking for the right words, but Justin cut her off.

"I don't want a pregnant, juvenile, 16 year old, apart of my family." Justin hissed. "I can't even believe you actually accepted her!" She sighed. "Justin you know I don't judge anyone. And everyone deserves more chances. Like you, when you pee'd in that mop bucket, or disrespected Clinton." she spoke.

Okay, I heard enough. I am nothing like it sounds like, I promise. But, if I keep listening, I might end up crying. I'm seriously a fucked up child.

I placed my hands on my stomach, and eased my way in, until I was fully in the kitchen. I cleared my throat. "H-Hello." I spoke audibly. Their heads snapped towards me, Pattie giving me a warm smile, while Justin glared at me in annoyance.

I looked down. "We'll finish our convo later Justin." Pattie whispered. "Honey, are you hungry?" she the questioned with a soft voice. I thought she was still talking to Justin, so I kept my head down, still standing there, with my hands on my stomach. "Avery sweetie?" she called. My head snapped up. "Oh, um, yea?" I asked. "Are you hungry?" she chuckled.

I shrugged. "I could eat." I slightly giggled, trying to lighten the mood, if possible. "Well, have a seat honey. I'll get you a sandwich." she smiled. I nodded, and walked over to the table, where Justin was eating, not making eye contact with anymore.

I pulled out a chair, and used leaned on the table a little to it down. As soon as my butt hit the chair, Justin got up, taking his plate with him. I frowned a little, bending my head. I guess I should get used to feeling unwanted again. "Here you go." Pattie smiled, as she sat a plate in front of me. I licked my lips, and picked up one of the halfs of my sandwich.

"Thank you." I smiled, as I was getting ready to take a bite. She smiled, as she began putting everything away.

"Avery," I heard someone called my name, as they knocked on the door. "Are you almost ready honey?" I let out a deep breath, as I looked at myself in the mirror. "Y-Yea, give me a minute." I looked at my outfit, making sure it was acceptable.

I really hope they like me. That's the one thing I'm begging for during this dinner. Since I'm pregnant, a lot like to judge. Such as Pattie's douche bag of a son.

I went and sat on my bed, realizing my sandals were on the floor. Oh shit. I grunted, as I bent over, holding my back, to pick them up at the same time, then placing them beside me on the bed. I slipped one on at a time, basically cussing the whole time, caused by the pain I'm currently having. I let out a breath of relief, as I stood up. I didn't have a purse, or phone, so I just placed my hands on my belly, and walked over to my door, opening it, and walking out.

I walked downstairs, going back to the kitchen, hoping Pattie was there. I looked around the corner seeing Pattie, and Justin talking once again. I cleared my throat, and placed a small smile on my face. "I'm ready." I said softly, as I looked straight at Pattie, trying to ignore Justin's presence. "You look beautiful Avery!" Pattie smiled. I smiled. "Thanks. You two look amazing too." I complimented. She smiled. "So, um, is the dinner at a restaurant or?" I questioned confused. She shook her head.

"Justin is hosting this one, so it'll be here in the dining room, where everyone is currently waiting." My eyes went a little wide. "Th-They're here already?" I asked. She nodded. "Don't worry, they'll love you." she assured. I let a deep breath, nodding my head. "Shall we?" she said holding out her hand for me to take, as she walked over to me. I smiled, as I grabbed it.

I walked along with Pattie, out the kitchen, and into another room, I'm just now seeing. I looked around at everyone conversing in the room. They all had smiles on their faces. I tensed up a bit, as I placed my free hand on my belly. "Hey everyone" Pattie smiled widely, as she caught everyone's attention. "I'd like to meet the newest member of the family, Avery." Everyone smiled, and I watched as some eyes fell onto my stomach, making me look down, feeling self conscious.

Here we go.
