The End. (a hunger games fan fiction)

*this is an exerpt from the story*
Tears rolled down my face. My voice dead, my mouth still in a wide 'o' from screaming. My ears were ringing, as I grasped for my life. I was going to die. I screamed for my mother, for my best friend. For anyone to answer. And all I got was nothing. As I grasped the air, I could feel my life slipping through my clenched fingers.
*Sorry if it's not as long as you would like. This is going quicker than I expected.*

6. Six

I heard Effie knocking at my door. I sighed, closing my eyes, falling back into the dreams that haunted me the night before.

"Dear me, we are going to be late." I heard Effie mutter through the door. "Wake up! Today is going to be a big, big, big day!"

"be right there, Effie." I called. I dragged myself to the shower, then stepped into what has been laid on my dresser. A sleek brown-red tunic dangling over black skintight pants. I had boots laced up to my calves, and my silverish hair was put up in a long curled ponytail. My eyes were still the dead hollow gray ones I saw in the train compartment.

Chase was wearing black. All black. From his tunic to his shoes, it was black.

"Well, any advice for us, Haymitch?" I asked him. I could tell that he was In a Hangover.

"Yeah. Just make some allies talk people up. I know you're very good at talking." He said. "Hasn't shut up since we got here." He muttered. I snorted in response, but Effie had a different demeanor.

"Haymitch!" She said, before we were all rushed to the training center. Yay.

We went through a brief speech instruction type thing until we were able to train. I started at the camouflage center, when a spotted a girl at the spearing station. She was from district eleven. I remembered watching her being reaped. I walked over to her, remembering what Haymitch had said about friends. She seemed like a worthy ally.

"hi!" I said, walking over to her. Only there was something weird, yet pretty about her. She was part wolf. She had the paws, the ears, the tail, and when she smiled at me, I saw the teeth. Her sleek scarlet hair matched all the other alterations

"Hi." She said, waving a paw at me. I think she could sense my confusion because she answered my thoughts. "If you think this is weird, you can blame the damned Capitol." She whispered.

"I'm so sorry." I said, grabbing a spear. And to my surprise, I threw it pretty well. She smiled at me, her bright white pointed teeth flashing.

"Hey, no biggie. A bit of an advantage, if you ask me." She responded, grabbing a spear with one of her paws.

"Yeah. That is true. My name's Ivy Kaslik. What's yours?" I asked, trying to keep up the conversation.

"Seda Gretchen. And I like that name. Ivy. Sounds so... Pretty." She said, her tall, willowy stature dreamily swaying."

"So, you have any allies yet?" I asked. She looked at me, her golden eyes with specks of copper

looking into my dull gray ones.

"I think I just found one." She said, smiling.

"Me, too." I replayed her smile.

"So, would you like to have lunch with me?" She asked, her sleek, long tail slightly wagging. I

looked over at chase, who had began talking to the district nine male.

"Yeah. That'd be great." I said. Her ears perked up, her pale skin seemingly illuminated by her dark red hair. I may have just found a friend in this despicable place.

"Really? I am so sorry." I said, sorrowful. Seda had just told me that when she was altered, she

was only a couple years old. I bit into a roll, although unaware of how grateful I am for lunch.

"Yeah, but not as bad as being thrown into an arena with my twin. Even though I don't have one." She replied. I nodded, that still being a soft spot of mine.

"So, anyway, District Twelve. Coal mining, right. Be lucky. I heard that you guys don't go to work until your eighteen. We have to start working around the age of twelve. So I've been working

about two years." She said. I wondered how horror stricken my face looked, because Seda started to grin.

"Yeah. So, you're fourteen. So am I! Well, as of yesterday. And yes, I know. I was born on the reaping day. I remember never bothering to even think about my birthday after those poor people having to fight to death." I said, a few tears escaping my eyes.

Seda's expression was sincere. "I am so sorry that happened to you."

"Yeah, nothing better for your birthday knowing you and your brother going to die in a matter of a few days." Even though it was sad, we laughed. Maybe because of natural craziness, or just crazy fear of what lies ahead. Probably both.

"So, Ivy. Let's say this. I'm a swift runner, cause of this freaking things," she said, lifting the paw on the end of her legs, "and so are you, you're handy at knives and spears, and I have teeth and claws. So as soon as the minutes up, we run to the cornucopia, grab everything we can, some weapons, but mostly food, water, and other survival things, and then fight our way out of the blood-bath. And as for your brother, tell him to run away, and we'll try to find him. Tell him to leave an untraceable yet traceable path." She whispered quietly so no one could hear.

"Perfect." I said. After the first day of training was over, I told Chase the plan.

"And if you tell anyone this plan, even though you're my twin, I will sic Seda on you." I said, he nodded, probably wondering what I have become. But now, I realized that I was not just fighting for my brother's safety. I was fighting for myself, and Seda, now. And sometimes, that takes sacrifices.
