4. Chapter 4

I turned toward Jack and hugged him. "I think I'm going to go out or a walk or something. I'll be fine okay?" I looked around at everyone.

"Okay just don't forget to take your phone with you." Zack got up from the couch and hugged me. "You worry too much Zacky." I joked. He laughed and patted my head. "You're like my little sister, I don't want anything to happen to you."

"I know." I smiled and headed upstairs to get changed. I put on a pair of black jeggings, my 'BONER' t-shirt Jack had given me for my birthday, one of Zack's black hoodies and my black converse. I decided to leave my hair down and headed back down the stairs. I tripped on the last step and quickly grabbed the rail, catching myself.

"See? This is why I worry about you Cassidy." Zack laughed as he walked over to make sure I was okay. "Oh and why do you always wear my old hoodies?" He asked, picking at the shoulder of the hoodie. "Because they're soft." I laughed as I walked over to the front door.

"I'll see you guys in a little bit. I'm not sure where I'm going though." I heard Zack laugh from behind me. "What's so funny?" I asked. "You always say you don't know where you're going, yet you always end up at the park somehow." Zack chuckled. I smiled, rolling my eyes as I walked out into the fresh air. I closed the door and began walking down the street.

I smiled and waved to my friend Brooklyn as she ran across the street. She walked along side me, throwing her arm around my shoulder. "Hey Cass, what are you doing out here all by yourself? You could get hurt! Does Zack know you're out here?" She spoke in a fake worried tone.

"Your Zack impression needs a little work Brooklyn. It wasn't convincing enough." I giggled. "You need to ask more questions and sound a lot more worried."

"Noted." She nodded her head and laughed. "So where are we going?" She questioned. "I was thinking on going to the park for a little while. Even though I was there at 5am." I watched the ground and smiled to myself. "You were there at 5am?" Brooklyn asked, sounding a little shocked. "Yeah. I woke up around 4:30, went downstairs and saw Zack sitting at the kitchen table so I talked to him for a little while. Then I headed back upstairs and saw that Alex was awake, we talked then we went to the park for a little while." I rambled, glancing up at the brilliant blue sky.

After a few minutes we finally reached the park, but to my surprise there were two people already there. Normally there wouldn't be anyone at the park, mostly because there was an even better park with a lot more to offer compared to this one.

Brooklyn and I walked over to an old picnic table and sat down. I glanced over to the two people who were currently sitting on the swings, within seconds I knew exactly who they were. It was Alex and Jess. I looked at the table with my head down and listened to their conversation.

"Alex why'd you take me to this stupid park anyways? There's nothing to do." Jess spat. "I thought we could just sit here and talk for a little while. You said you wanted to go somewhere, so here we are." Alex responded happily. I heard a swing begin to move so I looked over to see Jess standing in front of Alex. "When I said I wanted to go somewhere I meant I wanted you to take me somewhere nice. Not a stupid park." Jess barked. Alex slowly stood up. "This park isn't stupid Jess. You only said you wanted to go somewhere. You didn't say you wanted to go somewhere nice."

I saw Jess look at me, so I quickly turned away, placing my hand next to my face to hide it. Unfortunately she still saw me and began heading over towards Brooklyn and I. "Well who do we have here? It's the bitch Cassidy and her tramp of a friend Brooklyn." Jess snickered. I stood up from the picnic table and faced Jess. "You can call me whatever you want, but don't you dare insult Brooklyn." I growled. Jess stood there and laughed. "And what will you do about that fat ass?"

"If you keep pushing me you'll find out soon enough you bitch." I spat back. "What did you just call me?" Jess questioned, raising her eyebrows. "You heard me. You're nothing but a fucking bitch who loves bringing people down."

I flinched as Jess slapped me. I glanced over her shoulder to see Alex standing there, his mouth hanging open. I looked back at her and smirked. "You can hit me all you want, but it won't make you any less of a bitch." I turned around to face Brooklyn. "Come on, let's go."

She quickly got up from the picnic table and walked over next to me. We both began to leave when I heard Jess from behind me. "You'll pay for this asshole!" She called. With my back still turned to her, I stuck my arm up in the air and gave her a thumbs up.

"Oh my god are you okay?! Did she hurt you?! Let me see if there's a mark!" Brooklyn grabbed my arm and stopped me. She turned my face and saw the mark Jess had left on my face. "I'm fine Brooklyn. She too weak to ever hurt me. Oh and on the brightside you've nailed your Zack impression." I laughed. "Thanks for caring." Brooklyn giggled as she spoke. "It's my job! I know you said you're not hurt, but that mark on your face says otherwise." She quickly looked at her watch. "Sorry Cassidy but I have to go, I'll call you later!"

As I walked home I couldn't help but think about how Alex just stood there and watched as Jess and I argued. Jess had slapped me and Alex didn't say anything. He didn't ask if I was alright or anything. What if she had done something worse than just a minor slap to the face? Would he have still just stood there?

After about a minute of walking, I had finally reached the house. I didn't want to go inside and have Zack worry about the mark on my face. I didn't want to tell him about the agrument Jess and I had. I just wanted to be alone. I pulled Zack's hood over my head, lied in the grass of our front lawn and closed my eyes.
