Switched

"I wish I could get away from here. I wish people would treat me like I'm worth something." I said aloud to myself. I looked over at my Louis Tomlinson poster hanging on the wall. "I know you would." I said to it. "I see how you treat Eleanor. You treat her like a princess. I wish I was lucky enough to be treated like that. Maybe even by you." A single tear fell down my cheek. I quickly wiped it away. I sat down in my windowsill and stared at the night sky. A glimmer of light caught my eye. I looked over and saw it. A star. It shined brighter than any star I've ever seen. "I wish I could be someone else. Someone who knew Louis." I whispered. I took a deep breath. "I wish I could be Eleanor Calder."

3. The Wish

I silently slipped through the front door. I carefully closed it behind me and tiptoed up the stairs. "Sydney? Is that you?" I heard my mom call from the kitchen. Shoot! "Yeah." I said quietly, hoping she wouldn't hear me. "Sydney Ashland Stone get in here!" my dad yelled. I gulped and slowly made my way to the kitchen. My whole family was sitting at the table, except for 1. Me.

"Where have you been?" my dad asked with a mad tone in his voice. "I was walking the railroad." I told him. "Normally you're home by 5. It's 6. Why are you late?" he asked. "Well, I...umm...met up with a...friend." I said nervously. I am a horrible liar. I get all nervous and I can't look anyone in the eye. "What friend?" my mom asked curiously. What was I supposed to say? I couldn't lie, but at the same time I couldn't tell the truth, either.

"Just some guy I met at school..." I said, my voice trailing off. "A guy? You were with a boy?!" my dad asked angrily. He stood up and glared at me. "Yeah, but he's just a friend!" I said quickly. "Sydney Ashland Stone how many times have I told you. No hanging out with boys!" my dad snapped. "Dad, your acting like he raped me! He didn't! And I told you, he's just a friend." "Well, he could have! And would you tell us if he did?" my dad asked. "Of course I would! Dad, I'm not stupid." I exclaimed.

"Did he kiss you?" my mom asked quietly. "Well, sort of..." I mumbled. My mom gasped. "What?!" my dad yelled angrily. "It was just the cheek! And it didn't mean anything! I swear!" I cried, the tears starting to form. "Sydney you're 14! You're not ready for a relationship yet." my mom said, trying not to raise her voice.

My mom and dad were both yelling at me and I couldn't take it all in at one time. My head was spinning in circles. I put my hands over my ears. "Please stop!" I yelled. They wouldn't stop. "Shut up!" I screamed. Dead silence. I felt a hand slap my mouth. "Sydney Ashland Stone I don't ever want you to have that kind of disrespect again." my dad said, his teeth clenched together. I stepped away from him. "I hate you." I said before running upstairs to my room.

I slammed the door closed. I started to cry even harder. I slammed my back against my wall and fell to the floor. I forced myself to stop crying. I stood up and walked over to my bedside table. I picked up the picture of me and Julia that was sitting on it. "I wish you were still here." I whispered. "Everything would be so much better." I set the picture down and walked over to the window.

Maybe even by you."

A single tear fell down my cheek.
