Phyre Gunner: The Spy (Editing Process)

Phyre Gunner. Teenager. Rebel. Spy. Troublemaker. Genius. American. Genetically Perfect.

After the passing of her father, Phyre became the imperfect daughter. After too many detentions and schools, LSA comes looking for the one person that can help them save the world, the same person that is genetically perfect, Phyre Gunner.

12. Partner

Help me remember to hate working in partners. I absolutely hate working with another person, especially when it is a school work. I’m not good with other people, let alone people who apparently can’t work as fast as I do it.

“So Phyre.” Marcus, my geek partner started. “We have to work after school so that we can finish this worksheet by tomorrow.”

“Marcus.” I fake smiled. “Listen carefully. I have things to do after school, other than sit down and do my homework, so I suggest that you finish your part of the worksheet, because I am done with mine. If you don’t understand it, well, there’s the teacher that could help you, or any other nerd that is willing to do stay after school with you.”

“Wha- This- No.” Marcus said. “We are supposed to be doing this in partners.”

“I never asked for one.” I replied staring at him with my famous death stare.

“I’m going to tell the teacher.” Marcus stuttered.

“Tell him.” I replied crossing my arms over my chest. “I couldn’t care less.”

“Detention.” Mr. Right said as I sat on a chair of his office. “First week of classes here and you get detention.”

I sighed and crossed my arms. Yes, I might have gotten to detention the very first week I’ve been here in London. In my defense, Marcus, is a stupid geek who apparently is only façade, and doesn’t have the brain to be a real geek.

“Explain yourself Phyre.” Mr. Right said. “You promised you were going to be good.”

“Mr. Right.” I said catching his attention. “I have a somehow valid excuse to have gotten in detention.”

“I’m listening.” Mr. Right said crossing his arms.

“I had to do a worksheet in partners, when I clearly told my teacher, that I can’t work in partners, she yet decided to put me with Marcus, a geek who’s not a geek, because he isn’t as smart as people claim. I did my part of the worksheet, and the genius not genius geek, didn’t understand and didn’t want to understand, so I snapped at him, and he called the teacher, and well, we don’t get along so well.”

Mr. Right took his glasses off and rubbed the bridge of his nose. He looked at me with parental eyes.

“I understand you have trouble working with other people.” Mr. Right started. “I think everyone here knows that, but I need you to start thinking, how you want people from the school to see you. Do you want to be the trouble maker once again? I’m giving you the chance of redeeming yourself Phyre.”

I rolled my eyes. “Troublemaker is all I know.” I stated. “I’m not going to change who I am just because I am on the other side of the world. I can try to be a better person, but I can’t promise you that I will be. Do you know how hard it is to come to another land, without anyone who’s your family? Yeah, I might not like my mother or my brothers, but they know me, they might not accept me, but they care about me.”

“We care about you here as well Ms. Gunner.” Mr. Right said. “I’m going to let this one pass.”

“I will try my best.” I said standing up.

“I need a new report on my desk by tonight.” Mr. Right said.

“You will have it sir.” I said and left the office.

Damn people and their incapacity to work fast enough. I hate working with a someone, unless the someone is fast enough. I mean, Adam is fast enough, so I can work with him.

I hope that when I work on the field, I work alone.
