Safe And Sound (Triquel to Red)

"Elizabeth Ashton was more that just a girl to me. She was my best friend, she was the love of my life, she was my light. Since the day I met her when we were 5 years old there hasn't been a single day that I didn't love her. Without her, I wouldn't be the man I am today. She taught me so many things. She taught me to never give up on myself and to never let anyone tell me who I am, who I want to be. She taught me to believe in myself even when no one else did. Through the 15 years that I knew her, just the thought of her made me smile. Now I can't help but look back on all of the memories we made. The pillow fights, the sleep overs, the ghost stories. She made me happier than anyone else ever could. She put a smile on my face even when I was on the verge of tears and she always knew what to say. So much of the world knows Elizabeth Ashton as the girl who broke free from her past and created a future...

12. Two Years Later

***Beth's POV***

-2 Years Later-

I still remember the day like it was yesterday. The day I left. Part of me regrets the decisionI made but I knew it was for the best. Two years have passed since I was that broken little 19 year old and since that day, I have not seen or heard from any one of them. Now at the age of 21, the world knows that I am alive but I chose a separate life than the one I had previously occupied. No longer the famous Elizabeth Ashton, I live the life of a normal 21 year old girl. I even found a way to love again. Two days after I left I made a decision to move to New York City. It had only been a few moments since I moved in when I met Luke Lancaster. Being the neighbor across the hall from my apartment, we soon became close friends. After a few months we both figured out that we had that little spark with each other, from then on we were together. He may not have been my best friend for 14 years but he loved me for me, not who I once was. He made me forget about all of my problems, he helped pick me up when I fell down. And for that, I fell in love with him.

*** "Luke?" I called through his apartment.

"In the kitchen babe!" He called back.

I walked into the kitchen with a big smiled on my face as soon as I saw Luke standing at the stove with an apron on that said 'Kiss The Cook'. I smirked at him.

"Nice apron you've got there." I grinned.

"I thought you'd like it. I'd advise you to follow what it says." He smirked.

I smiled playfully. "And what if I don't want to?"

"Well I guess we might have a problem." He smiled.

I walked over to him and he put his hands around my waist and I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Well we wouldn't want a problem now would we?" I asked.

He shook his head. I began leaning in and finally when our lips were a centimeter apart I made a swift movement and kissed his nose.

He groaned. "Bethhh."

"Yes?" I smiled.

"A bit to high. Try lower." He grinned.

"What you mean like this?" I asked, kissing his upper lip.

"Lower." He mumbled.

I pressed my lips to his and I felt the familiar sparks shoot through me.

"I love you so much Beth." He whispered.

"Well lucky for you, I love you too." I grinned.

I was about to kiss him again when my phone began ringing in my pocket. I took it out and my eyebrows raised when I saw who was calling.

"Its Simon. I wonder why he's calling me." I said.

Luke shrugged. I pressed the green button and pressed the phone to my ear.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Elizabeth, how are you?" Simon asked.

"I'm fine. How are you? Its been a while." I said.

"I'm doing well. Yes, it has been a while and thats why I'm calling." He said.

"Okay... care to explain you plan that you obviously have?" I asked.

"I know its been a while and I feel like after two years you're ready to come back. The whole world still talks about you and its safe to say that you have not faded in peoples memories." He said.

"So let me get this straight, you want to make me famous again?" I asked.

"Good so I don't have to explain." He said.

"Simon... the thing is, I love my life right now. I love where I live, I have an incredible boyfriend and I love being able to leave my apartment not mobbed by paps." I said.

"And you'll still have those things. The world needs Elizabeth Ashton back though." Simon told me.

I sighed. "Hold on."

I took the phone away from my ear.

"What do you think Luke? Should Elizabeth Ashton come back?" I asked Luke.

"Babe, do what makes you happy. I'll be here always, not matter what you do." He smiled.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

He nodded. I pressed the phone back to my ear.

I sighed. "Okay. I'll do it."

"Great! Its wonderful to have you back. Is it possible if you could fly to London for a week or so to sort things out?" He asked.

I bit my lip nervously, knowing I hadn't set foor on British soil in two years. What could go wrong though?

"Uh, yeah. Sure. When should I leave?" I asked.

"Tomorrow night. I'll send you a plane ticket. I assume you would like to bring your boyfriend so I'll send you a second one." He said.

I grinned. "Thank you. I'll see you soon then."

"Goodbye Elizabeth. Its nice to have you back." He said.

"Bye Simon." I said.

I hung up the phone and set it down on the counter. I turned to Luke.

"Well, how would you like to come to London with me?" I grinned.

A smile spread across his face. "I'd love too."

And from that moment on, Elizabeth Ashton was back. What didn't cross her mind was what or rather who might be in London that could change the way she saw things forever.
