Safe And Sound (Triquel to Red)

"Elizabeth Ashton was more that just a girl to me. She was my best friend, she was the love of my life, she was my light. Since the day I met her when we were 5 years old there hasn't been a single day that I didn't love her. Without her, I wouldn't be the man I am today. She taught me so many things. She taught me to never give up on myself and to never let anyone tell me who I am, who I want to be. She taught me to believe in myself even when no one else did. Through the 15 years that I knew her, just the thought of her made me smile. Now I can't help but look back on all of the memories we made. The pillow fights, the sleep overs, the ghost stories. She made me happier than anyone else ever could. She put a smile on my face even when I was on the verge of tears and she always knew what to say. So much of the world knows Elizabeth Ashton as the girl who broke free from her past and created a future...

64. The Wedding Planner

***Liam's POV***

"Beth hurry up, we don't want to be late!" I called upstairs as I waited in the foyer.

"Be down in a second!" She called back.

We had gotten back from New York about a week ago and now we were going to see the wedding planner. Moments later Beth came hurrying down the stairs, slipping her beanie onto her head.

"Now I'm ready." She told me.

I grabbed my keys and we walked out the door. I locked the door behind us and we made our way to my car. We got in and she turned on the radio as I pulled out.

"So have you heard from Grace at all since New Years?" I asked Beth.

She nodded. "Yeah. She's still with the guy she met at the party. Daniel I think she said it was. They apparently really hit it off."

"Are they still in New York?" I asked.

"I believe so. I haven't heard from her in a few days." She said.

I nodded. "Its really amazing what you did for her."

She shrugged. "I owed her. She's been there from the start. She's been my shoulder to cry on. She's seen me on my best and worst days. Its time I payed her back."

"You are such an incredibly girl." I grinned.

She smiled. "Maybe. But I was just helping out a friend."

"I mean, the lads and I love Paul but we would never dress him up in a tux just to go to a party." I laughed.

"Yeah well it just didn't seem right that I'm younger than her, already have my career set in place and I'm engaged to the guy of my dreams. She should live her fairytale." She smiled.

"The guy of your dreams huh?" I grinned.

"Well would you rather be the guy of your nightmares?" She laughed.

"I'd stick with dreams." I smiled.

"You're a weird one Liam." She smiled.

"And you aren't?" I chuckled.

"I never said I wasn't. I am though. I admit it. I'm weird." She laughed.

"Shut up. You may be pretty weird but I love you for it. You're amazingly weird." I told her.

"Yeah well you're amazingly weird too." She said.

"If we continue this conversation who knows where it'll go." I said.

"Yeah, who knows. We could end up talking about Africa." She said.

I chuckled. "Africa."

"You could think of anything and you think Africa? You're a weird one Beth." I repeated her words.

"And you aren't?" She mocked.

"I swear, this conversation is going no where." I laughed.

Soon I pulled into the building and Beth and I got out. We walked up the snow covered steps and pushed our way through the door. We walked up to the secretary's desk.

"Hi, we're here to see Rebecca Docker." I told the secretary.

She looked up and smiled. "She's ready for you. Her office is the last door at the end of the hall."

"Thank you." Beth smiled.

Beth and I made our way down the hall and when we reached the door I knocked.

"Come in." We heard a feminine voice say from inside.

Beth pushed open the door and we were greeted with Rebecca sitting at her dest, going over papers. She looked up and smiled.

"Liam, Elizabeth. How are you?" She asked.

"We're great." I told her.

"Aright well if you'll take a seat we can begin discussing plans." She said.

Liam and I took our seats and waited for her to begin.

"Alright, so at our last meeting we decided on a venue and the invitations. I thought we should go over the place settings for the tables at the reception." She said.

"Alright." I said.

"So we already have a few set up. If you'll follow me I'll show them to you." She said.

Rebecca stood up and we followed her out of her office. She led us down the hall to a large room that was filled with tables with various table settings.

"So I'm going to let you two look around. If you see a setting that you like but its the wrong color, don't worry about it. These place settings come in a variety of colors. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask." She smiled.

Liam and I thanked her and walked over to the first table which was set with copper colored plates and red napkins.

"I don't really like the napkins in the wine glasses." I told Beth.

"Yeah I agree." She replied.

We moved onto the next table which was set with purple napkins and white plates. I shook my head and looked at Beth.

"I don't like it either." She told me.

We walked over to the next table. It was set with gold plates and chocolate colored napkins.

"I actually like it." I said.

"Yeah I do too." She looked over at Rebecca. "Do these plates come in silver and the napkins in light pink?"

Rebecca nodded. "Yes they do."

Beth turned to me. "I really like this one but we can keep looking."

I nodded in agreement. We walked over to the next table. It was set with plain white plates and marigold napkins.

"Its a bit plain."Beth said, studying the setting.

"Yeah I agree." I replied.

After looking at a few more table settings we decided on the third choice.

"So you want the bottom plate in silver correct?" Rebecca asked, taking notes.

"Yeah and the upper plates white with a silver rim. A light pink napkin. Silver silverware. And wine glasses with a silver rim." Beth told her.

Rebecca nodded. "Alright. I'll send the order in later today." She told us. "Now on to the cakes?"

"Sure." I smiled.

We followed her into another room which had plates and plates of small pieces of cake.

"So why don't you two go about tasting each one. Let me know if you decide." She smiled.

Liam and I made our way to the first one and saw that it was lemon. I picked up a small piece and took a bite. I watched at Beth took hers and she looked at me and shook her head.

"Too tangy." She said.

I nodded in agreement. "Next one."

We walked over to the next one which was a dutch chocolate cake. Again, both of us took a bite and looked at each other.

"Its kind of bitter." I told her.

"Yeah. I think it needs to be a bit sweeter." She said.

"Let move on to the next one." I suggested.

After trying a few different ones we were torn between the vanilla and the red velvet. Beth was hung up on the red velvet.

"Liam, how could you say no to this. It amazing." She said.

"But the vanilla is amazing." I told her.

"I still think its red velvet." She told me.

"And I still think its vanilla." I replied.

We looked at Rebecca.

"Is it possible to have two different flavors in one cake?" I asked.

"Well each layer can switch off. How many layers do you want?" She asked.

I looked at Beth.

"I want a huge cake. Like six layers." She said.

"So three vanilla, three red velvet." I said.

"Alright, is that your final decision?" Rebecca asked.

"Yeah, neither of us is going to give up." Beth chuckled.

"Alright so now that that is decided lets move on to the design of the cake." Rebecca told us.

We moved to the other side of the room where dozens of cakes were lined up.

"So this whole row is six layer cakes." She said, pointing to a row of neatly decorated cakes. "Each of them comes in a variety of colors. So in your case, pink. If you have any questions, just ask me."

Beth and I nodded and began looking at each cake. Each one more extravagant than the next. Beth kept glancing at one with flowers going up the side.

"You like that one don't you?" I asked her.

She looked at me and smiled. "Yeah I really do."

"Is it the one though?" I asked.

She studied it for a moment before nodding her head. "Yeah. Yeah it is."

I looked over at Rebecca. "These flowers come in pink correct?"

"Yes they do. Is that the one?" She asked.

"Yeah." I replied.

"Alright. Good. So lets head back to my office." She said.

We followed her out of the room and back to her office. Once inside we reclaimed our seats.

"So we've got all that covered. Elizabeth, have you found a dress quite yet?" Rebecca asked.

She shook her head. "I've looked but I haven't found the one."

Rebecca nodded and turned to me. "And have you sorted out your tuxes?"

I nodded. "Yeah."

"Alright, good. Elizabeth, I suggest you begin looking for bridesmaid dresses. Especially if you want them custom made. The custom dresses can take up to months to be delivered." She told me.

Beth smiled. "Thank you. I'll keep that in mind."

"Well, your next appointment will be sometime in February. Are there any dates that I should not plan a meeting on?" She asked.

I looked at Beth.

"Not February 1st because that's Harry's birthday and Mir's probably going to plan something." She said.

"Not February 11th because thats your birthday and I'm probably going to plan something." I grinned.

She rolled her eyes. "Not valentines day, of course."

"So not the first, eleventh or the fourteenth?" Rebecca asked, looking at her computer.

"Yeah." I replied.

"So I have an open appointment on the 21st at three. Is that good?" She asked.

"Yeah." I said.

Rebecca looked up and smiled. "Alright. Well I'll see you two on the twenty first then."

Beth and I stood up and smiled. "Thank you. See you on the twenty first."

"See you then. And Elizabeth, look for a dress." Rebecca said as we walked out.

Beth and I walked down the hall hand in hand, smiles on our faces. As each day passed, the wedding grew nearer and nearer. I looked down at Beth and grinned. I can't wait to marry her.
