Safe And Sound (Triquel to Red)

"Elizabeth Ashton was more that just a girl to me. She was my best friend, she was the love of my life, she was my light. Since the day I met her when we were 5 years old there hasn't been a single day that I didn't love her. Without her, I wouldn't be the man I am today. She taught me so many things. She taught me to never give up on myself and to never let anyone tell me who I am, who I want to be. She taught me to believe in myself even when no one else did. Through the 15 years that I knew her, just the thought of her made me smile. Now I can't help but look back on all of the memories we made. The pillow fights, the sleep overs, the ghost stories. She made me happier than anyone else ever could. She put a smile on my face even when I was on the verge of tears and she always knew what to say. So much of the world knows Elizabeth Ashton as the girl who broke free from her past and created a future...

69. The Park

***Beth's POV***

By now it was day four of my bachelorette party. Sure, it was really fun but that didn't stop me from missing Liam. I thought about him constantly, what he was doing, where he was. Was he thinking about me?

Now as I lay here looking up at the ceiling in the early hours of the morning, unanswered questions fill my mind. I turned my head and looked at the clock. 5:34 am. I knew all too well that I would not be able to fall back asleep so I slowly slid my feet off my bed and stood up. I lumbered out of my room, the cold wood floor below my feet. I made my way over to El's room and slowly pushed open the door. Careful not to wake her, I began searching for my phone. Finally I found it sitting on her dresser. I picked it up and quietly rushed out of her room shutting the door silently behind me. I made my way downstairs and walked out to the balcony. I opened the door and walked out into the early Los Angeles morning. Shutting the door behind me, I looked down at my phone and typed in the passcode. I dialed a phone number and waited as it rung. As each ring passed I grew more and more hopeless. Why would he pick up? I mean, he doesn't even have his phone. I sighed when it went to voicemail. I slowly made my way back to the door of the balcony. As soon as I put my hand on the handle I felt my phone buzz in my hand. I looked down and a smile spread across my face.

Liam is calling...

I hit answer and pressed the phone to my ear.

"You know, we're completely breaking their rules right now." I heard Liam's soft voice say.

I grinned. "Who cares. I miss you."

"So what are you doing up at 5:40?" He asked.

"Couldn't sleep." I sighed.

"So I'm not the only one?" He chuckled quietly.

"No, you're not." I smiled. "How did you end up getting your phone back?"

"Oh, I stole it back from Louis two nights ago when everyone was asleep. I didn't want to call you unless you called me because then I might be caught." He told me.

"Let me guess, you're in a coat closet right now." I chuckled.

"You know me too well." I could hear the smile in his voice. "So how's Disneyland?"

"Its amazing. We met the Disney princesses on the first day. Did Louis show you the video of Woody, Jessie and I?" I asked.

He laughed quietly. "Yeah he did. It made my day. And that was some outfit you had too."

"El really went all out. She got us all minnie mouse ears and sashes." I told him.

"Well for what its worth, you looked beautiful. I honestly can't wait fifteen days to marry you." He told me.

"The wait will be with it." I told him. I let out a sigh as I looked out at the sun slowly rising. "Liam I wish you were here. The sun is just beginning to side and it beautiful."

"Nothing compared to you I'm sure." He said.

I smiled. "You're cheesy."

"But you love me for it." He said.

"I do." I smiled. "Well I've told you about how my party is going, what about you?"

"Its fun. The lads and I mainly go to clubs and parties. Harry's gotten so drunk that he's passed out twice so far. Niall once. Louis has kind of been taking charge of everything." He told me.

"Did he buy you headbands and sashes?" I chuckled.

"No but I'm sure I'd look pretty damn great in them." He said.

"I'm sure." I laughed.

"Its all fun but I wish you were here with us." He said.

"I wish you were here with me." I sighed.

"Only two more days." He said.

"Two days too long." I told him.

"I agree." I sighed.

I heard muffled shouts in the background. "Liam Payne! Are you on the phone?!"

"Shit." I heard Liam mumbled. "Beth I love you and I miss you so much. Have an amazing time in California and I'll see you in two days."

"I love you too Liam. Have a great time in Vegas." I told him.

The line was silent for a moment before I heard another voice speak.

"Elizabeth ashton, I hope you know you've just broken like five rules." Louis chuckled in a serious voice.

"Deal with it." I told him.

"No- what... I'm sorry did you just tell me to deal with it?" He said, trying to sound serious but not doing a very good job of it.

"Yes I did." I laughed.

"I'll see you in court!" He huffed.

I chuckled. "Bye Lou. Tell the boys I said hi and Liam that I love him."

"You're lucky you're my best friend Ashton. Otherwise I'd report this to the Maid of Honor." He said.

"But you won't because I'm your best friend." I said.

"You win this one." He said. "Have fun in Disneyland. Don't do stupid things."

"I won't." I chuckled. "Bye."

I hung up and held my phone in my hands for a moment. I looked out at the rising sun and let out a sigh. I slowly walked back into the suite and quietly made my way upstairs. I pushed the door to El's room open and silently set my phone back on the table. I closed the door and walked back to my room. I laid down and found myself once again looking at the ceiling. My eyes slowly began to close and soon I found myself slipping into dreamland.

-Later that morning-

"Perrie! Beth! Wake up!" I heard Emily's voice call as she passed our rooms in the hallways.

I opened my eyes and looked at the clock. 10:45. I slipped out of bed and walked over to my suitcase. After rummaging through it I found a cute outfit and slipped it on. I found my white converse and slipped those on. I took my ring off the table beside my bed and slipped it on my finger. Satisfied with my outfit I walked out of my room and went downstairs. The girls were sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast.

"We were beginning to think you were dead." El chuckled.

"Yep. I'm dead. Just looked at me, a walking zombie." I said sarcastically.

"Sit your ass down and eat breakfast." Miranda ordered.

"Yes mum." I chuckled.

I took a seat at the table and grabbed a pancake from the place that was in the center of the table.

"So before we go to Disneyland today the girls and I thought it would be a good idea to made a stop somewhere." El grinned.

"Oh really? And what place would that be?" I asked.

"You'll see. Also, we've been invited to a party at Miranda Kerr's house tonight. You up for it?" El asked.

"Miranda Kerr as in the Victorias Secret model?" I asked.

She nodded. "She heard that you were engaged and found out that we were in LA this week. So she invited us to her party."

"Well its better than going to the same club every night." I smiled.

"What time is the party?" Perrie asked.

"7:oo. So we leave Disneyland at like 5:30 so we have enough time to get ready." El told us.

"Well, we're busy today!" Emily exclaimed.

"Sure are. Tomorrow is our last day though. Then on Sunday morning we catch a flight home." El told us.

"You know, I'm actually going to miss being on this trip. I'm going to miss this suite. I'm going to miss waking up and going to Disneyland every day and then going to clubs at night. And I get to do it with you girls. Thats the best part. I'm going to miss it." Mir told us.

"Well we still have four other bachelorette parties to go on. You four need to get engaged too you know. This is only the beginning." I told them.

"Yeah. I know for my bachelorette party I want to go to the Bahamas where we can just relax." Emily smiled.

"For mine I'd want to go back to Aspen and stay in the same house we stayed in last time. Just the five of us." El smiled.

"You want a winter wedding?" I asked her.

She nodded. "Yeah. I just love snow, you know? I love winter."

"I think I'd love to have my bachelorette party in Italy. Just roam around the streets for a week. That'd be amazing." Perrie told us.

"I'd want to go to Rome. Or maybe Paris." Miranda told us.

"Well I can assure you, you four may be getting married sooner that you think. El, Louis talks about you twenty four seven. Mir, Harry loves you with everything in him. Emily, you're literally the girl version of Niall. And Perrie, you and Zayn are like the perfect couple." I told them.

"Emily being the girl version of Niall. I'd second that." Miranda said.

"I'm not!" Emily protested.

"Emily, you both have blonde hair and blue eyes. You both love food and sports. You're cute and cheeky a lot and you both love playing video games." I told her.

She looked at me and blushed. "So?"

"So you and Niall are like perfect for each other. You and Louis too El. You're the girl version of him." I told her.

"How?" She asked.

"Is that really a question?" Perrie chuckled. "El, you and Louis are extremely sassy. You love Starbucks a ton. You're both funny and childish."

She thought for a moment. "Okay, yeah. I can see that. But we have our differences as well." She pointed out.

We rolled our eyes. "Sure El."

About half an hour later we were walking out the door, our sashes and headbands in hand.

"So is this place you're taking me far from here?" I asked them as we rode down in the elevator.

"You'll see." El smiled.

The elevator reached the lobby floor and we got out. We made our way outside and got into the limo. Once inside we began screaming along to the music that was playing. It seemed like forever before we reached our destination. As soon as we arrived though, I knew why El wanted to come here. We were a few miles from Justin Bieber's house. We got out and I made my way over to the field. The field where it all began. I walked slowly to the middle of the field, almost at the exact place were my life changed. I looked at the girls. I smile on my face.

"Seven years ago... seven years ago I ran out into this field in the rain. Seven years ago, in this spot is where my life changed." I smiled.

I ran away from the car, my heels not working to my advantage. I ran over to a park with a big field. I was already soaked. I quickly slipped off my shoes.
“Beth wait!” Liam called, running after me.
“What Liam?! You want to tell me how I’m a horrible best friend?! That having other friends is wrong?!” I yelled through the rain.
“No Beth! You have to idea how much you mean to me! I hate fighting with you!” He yelled back through the rain.
“Liam you know what?! Why don’t you go find that mystery girl of yours and tell her how much you damn love her! I will never mean as much to you as she does!” I yelled.
“You have no idea Elizabeth! How about that mystery guy of yours?! Why don’t you go find him?!” Liam yelled.
“You know what Liam?! Why do you even care?!”I screamed.
I began running away when there was a slinece. Then I heard Liam speak.
“Because I love you. I love you so much Elizabeth Ashton.” He said.
I stopped in my tracks. Did he… I turned around and looked at Liam who was a few yards away from me.
“What?” I asked.
“I love you. I always have.” He told me.
I stood there for a moment before I found myself running towards him. The next thing I knew he was lifting me up, I pressed my lips to his and instantly felt fireworks.

"And seven years later, you're marrying him." El smiled.

"Can you give me my phone?" I asked.

"You know the rules."She told me.

"El please. You took me here, accept the consequences." I told her.

She sighed and pulled my phone out of her purse. She handed it to me and I dialed Liam's number. After a few rings, someone picked up.

"Second time today huh? Sneaky." Louis's voice filled my ears.

"I got El's permission. Give Liam his phone." I told him.

A few moments later Liam's voice filled my ears and I smiled.

"Babe, you okay?" He asked.

"You'll never guess where I'm standing right now." I smiled.

"Where?" He asked.

"Where were we seven years from our wedding date?" I grinned.

"In Los Angeles... wait, oh my god are you at the park?" He asked.

"I'm standing in almost the exact spot actually." I grinned.

He was silent for a moment. "God, I wish I could be there with you."

"Its weird you know, standing in the place where it all started. I mean, seven years ago we stood here and basically confessed that we loved each other and now seven years later on that exact date we're getting married."

"Its incredible." He told me. "After the wedding, you and I are going to go there."

"Just you and I?" I asked.

"Just you and I." He told me.

"I miss you and I love you. See you in two days." I told him.

"I love you too. Bye." He said.

I hung up the phone and handed it back to El.

"Thats the one and only time I'll let you talk to him." El told me.

"Yes mum." I rolled my eyes

"Ready to go?" She asked.

I looked around one more time and nodded. "Yeah."

We made our way back to the limo and got in. It pulled away from the park and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

"To Disneyland!" Emily exclaimed.
