Safe And Sound (Triquel to Red)

"Elizabeth Ashton was more that just a girl to me. She was my best friend, she was the love of my life, she was my light. Since the day I met her when we were 5 years old there hasn't been a single day that I didn't love her. Without her, I wouldn't be the man I am today. She taught me so many things. She taught me to never give up on myself and to never let anyone tell me who I am, who I want to be. She taught me to believe in myself even when no one else did. Through the 15 years that I knew her, just the thought of her made me smile. Now I can't help but look back on all of the memories we made. The pillow fights, the sleep overs, the ghost stories. She made me happier than anyone else ever could. She put a smile on my face even when I was on the verge of tears and she always knew what to say. So much of the world knows Elizabeth Ashton as the girl who broke free from her past and created a future...

51. The Morning After

***Beth's POV***

I woke up the next morning feeling like a new person, like a new page in my life had been turned and I was at the beginning of a whole new adventure.  People say that when you're in love you fall into a hole that is impossible to crawl out of. A hole filled with feelings and regret. With me though, I don't feel any regret when I'm with Liam. I don't regret meeting him, I don't regret the memories we shared, I don't regret our first kiss, our fights, I don't regret saying yes. Now as I look at the boy sleeping beside me I can't help but smile as my mind flashes back to the events the night before. His eyes flutter open and a grin spreads across his face.

"Hey." He mumbles in his morning voice.

"Hey yourself." I smiled back.

He put his hands on either side of my body and he pressed his soft, pink lips to mine. My arms immediately went around his neck as our lips moved perfectly in sync.

"We need to get up." I said finally.

"Why? I'd rather lay with you in bed all day." He whispered, kissing my neck.

"I'd like nothing better but believe me. The girls are going to be here soon, I'm actually surprised they're not already here." I smiled.

He groaned and rolled onto his back beside me. I snuggled up to his bare chest and he wrapped an arm around my waist.

"They'll probably want to gush about how incredibly perfect last night was." I smiled.

His smile widened. "So you liked it?"

"Everything about it was perfect. The little notes at the landmarks of our childhood all the way up to the 19 roses at the place we met. Even the outfits were perfect." I told him.

"And you know what my favorite part was?" He asked.

"Hm?"

"You said yes." He told me.

"I said yes." I repeated.

He kissed my lips once more and I smiled.

"God, I can't wait to marry you." He grinned.

"I wouldn't want to marry anyone else." I told him.

We heard the door open and close downstairs. Liam and I had stayed at my old house last night well.. for privacy.

"I told you. They're here right now." I smiled.

I slipped off the bed, a blanket, the only thing covering my body. I walked over to my closet and slipped on some clothing. I walked over to the bed and kissed Liam one more time.

"I'm sure the boys are here too. Get up." I smiled.

He groaned.

"LIAM. BETH. WAKE UP. MAKE YOURSELVES DECENT." We heard Louis scream from downstairs.

Liam and I rolled our eyes.

"Better set their minds straight." I smiled.

I gave him one last kiss before walking out of the room and down the stairs. As soon as I entered the kitchen I was tackled into an enormous hug.

"OUR LITTLE BETHIE IS GETTING MARRIED!" Harry screeched.

I groaned. "Harold get your arse off of me."

"Boys get off of her." Eleanor scolded, trying to hold back a laugh.

Moments later the boys pulled out of the hug and let me breathe.

"Okay so I have the whole day planned. Us girls are going to go to Starbucks and get our drinks. Then we're going to go and get a huge stack of bridal magezines. Then we're going to go to all the bridal shops here in Wolverhampton..." Miranda began.

"Miranda honey, I just got engaged. No need to rush things." I smiled.

"At least show us the ring. Liam wouldn't let us see it." Emily said.

I looked down at my finger and admired the diamond ring. They too looked at it with awe.

"Thats a pretty big stone you've got there Ashton." Harry smirked.

I blushed. It was then that Liam walked into the kitchen and the boys dropped everything and tackled him like they had done to me minutes before.

"Ahh." Liam groaned from beneath four bodies. "Let me breathe."

Finally the boys got off Liam and they each pulled him into a 'bro hug' as they call it.

"Congrats man." Harry said.

Liam grinned. "Thanks."

He came over to me and joined me at the table.

"So Liam's parents and sisters said they would stop by a little later." Zayn told us.

"Party at Beth's house." Liam laughed.

"Speaking of houses, what are you guys going to do after the wedding?"El asked us.

I looked at Liam and he looked at me.

"Well I suppose we could go looking for houses. Beth, I'm sure you don't want to stay there forever." Liam said.

"Honestly no I don't. After everything that has happened there... me catching you cheating, getting kidnapped and stalked, I mean didn't you live there with Danielle before I came along?" I asked.

He nodded.

"My point exactly. I hate the fact that I'm retracing the spawn of Statan's footsteps." I said.

"I'd hate that too. Believe me." Louis said.

I looked around at all my friends. "You know, I never got to thank all of you for everything you did yesterday. It was amazing." I smiled.

"It was all Liam's idea. We only helped out." Niall told me.

"Well it was perfect." I smiled.

"How did you even remember your outfits from the day you met? I can't even remember my outfit from the day I met Harry." Miranda said.

"You were wearing you graduation dress babe. It was a long dark magenta dress, slit up the side and silver sparkles all over it. I remember."Harry smiled at her.

"When you really love someone you remember everything." Liam stated.

Niall agreed. "Thats a fact. I met Em the same day Harry met Mir. Graduation day. Em was wearing a lavender dress with sparkles all over it."

"And you boys were wearing tuxes." Em smiled.

"God, maybe I need to start planning your weddings." I smirked.

"Nope. All our attention is on you babe. I mean, you are the first out of all of us to get engaged." El smiled.

"Lou was right." Liam smiled.

I raised my eyebrows. "Oh was she?"

Liam nodded. "She said, and I remember this clearly, 'I wouldn't be surprised if Liam was the first to get engaged.'"

"Well she was right." I smiled.

"When do you think you guys are going to go public with the engagement?" Louis asked.

I shrugged. "Probably when all of our families know." I sighed. "And that means telling my dad."

"I'll go with you. I'm not letting you go see that ass hole alone." Liam said seriously.

"No you're not. I'm going alone." I told him.

"Beth, I'm going with you and thats final. While he may be behind a glass booth I still don't trust him." He told me.

"Beth hes right. Who knows how your father would react to you getting engaged." Harry told me.

I sighed. "Fine."

"So Liam," El began. "When did you finally decide to propose to Beth?"

"The night I sang Fall For You. I told myself that if she stayed even after all the mistakes I made that I would marry her." He looked at me.
"Because I remember someone once telling me that if they love you even after you've broken their heart then they're the one."

"You knew that long?" I smiled.

"Well I always knew I wanted to marry you, I just didn't know when I was going to do it." He told me.

I looked at everyone else. "How long have all of you known?"

"About two weeks." Louis told me.

I raised my eyebrows. "Two weeks. You all are fantastic liars if you ask me."

Liam pulled me into his lap and kissed me.

"I love you."He told me.

"I love me too." I grinned.

He tipped his head back and groaned. "Not this again."

I gave him a small kiss. "I'm kidding. I love you too."

"Imagine what they'll be like after they're married." Harry smirked.

I laid my head on Liam's shoulder and his arms were securely wrapped around my waist. While I may have been sitting in my kitchen in only my pajamas I was surrounded by my family and in the arms of the man I love. At that moment I couldn't ask for anything more.
