Safe And Sound (Triquel to Red)

"Elizabeth Ashton was more that just a girl to me. She was my best friend, she was the love of my life, she was my light. Since the day I met her when we were 5 years old there hasn't been a single day that I didn't love her. Without her, I wouldn't be the man I am today. She taught me so many things. She taught me to never give up on myself and to never let anyone tell me who I am, who I want to be. She taught me to believe in myself even when no one else did. Through the 15 years that I knew her, just the thought of her made me smile. Now I can't help but look back on all of the memories we made. The pillow fights, the sleep overs, the ghost stories. She made me happier than anyone else ever could. She put a smile on my face even when I was on the verge of tears and she always knew what to say. So much of the world knows Elizabeth Ashton as the girl who broke free from her past and created a future...

66. Perfect

***Beth's POV***

El: Get dressed and look nice. We're gonna find your dress today.

I looked at the text once more as I walked into my closet and looked through my dresses. Once I was dressed in an appropriate outfit I grabbed a purse and walked out of the bedroom. I could hear muffled laughs from downstairs. As soon as I entered the kitchen I saw the five boys sitting around the table laughing about something.

"Well look who's all dressed up. Where are you going?" Liam asked.

"Dress shopping. El didn't give me a choice." I smiled.

"Stealing you away again? And to think I had you to myself the whole day." He whined.

"You have the boys. And this is just one day. You'll have me tonight. You'll have me tomorrow." I told him.

He sighed. "Okay. Have fun and remember, I'm paying for the dress so get any dress you want."

"Liam we talked about this. I'm paying for it." I argued.

"Not taking no for an answer." He told me.

"You're difficult." I groaned.

"You're more difficult." He grinned.

I rolled my eyes and shook my head. I turned to the boys. "Have fun with this idiot."

I began walking out of the room.

"Bye! I love you! Even if you did call my an idiot!" Liam called, laughing a little.

"Love you too you idiot!" I called over my shoulder.

I smiled to myself as I walked out the door. I got into my car and started it. As I pulled out of the driveway I turned on the radio and Can't Hold Us by Macklemore was playing. As soon as I reached El's house I saw the girls waiting by her car. I parked my car and got out.

"Oh my god, you're here! Finally." El groaned.

"Its like you're more eager to get my wedding dress than I am." I chuckled.

"I'm your made of honor honey, it's my job to be more excited than you." She smiled. "Now hurry up and get in."

I did as she asked and got into the passenger side of the car. El pulled out of the driveway and began the drive to the dress shop.

"So I also need to find dresses for you four." I told them.

"What color will they be?" El asked.

"Light pink." I told her.

"And Liam agreed to that?" El asked, her eyes wide.

I nodded. "He told me that did didn't care about what the color was, as long as he got me in the end." I smiled.

"Thats adorable." Emily gushed.

"Yeah well he is pretty adorable." I smiled.

"Is it weird? You know, marrying your best friend?" Perrie asked.

I shook my head. "No. Because while Liam and I may have been best friends for a really long time, we kinda loved each other the whole time. I know that I've loved Liam for a really, really long time."

"Yeah I kinda agree. I mean, while I love Niall he is also my best friend. Your boyfriend is the main guy in your life. You do practically everything with him. Its pretty hard not to become best friends in the process."

I smiled. "I can't wait until all of you get married. I get to obsess over your wedding." I grinned.

"We all know its going to be El an Louis next." Perrie grinned.

El blushed but didn't take her eyes off the road. "I highly doubt it. I mean, he's been kinda distant lately and we never spend a ton of time with each other anymore."

I couldn't help but smirk... oh El, if you only knew. "I'm sure he has a good reason. El, Louis loves you. More than everything. He's told me that numerous times. And you two have been together for eight years."

She sighed. "Whatever."

Soon we pulled into the dress shop. We got out and followed El inside. It seemed very exclusive, white carpet, white couches, white walls. A woman in a light blue suit walked in, a smile on her face.

"You must be the wedding party of Elizabeth Ashton. Its nice to meet you. My name is Caroline. If you'll follow me I'll show you our selection of dresses." Caroline smiled.

She turned to me. "Elizabeth, do you have any dress style in mind?"

I shook my head. "Not really."

"Alright. I'll show you a variety of dresses then."

We followed her into a large, elegant room. There was a white circular couch and a single dressing room.

"If you'll wait here, I'll go get the dresses." She smiled.

As she left the room I turned to El. "This place is already too much. We could have just gone to a regular dress shop." I told her.

She shook her head. "Beth honey, you're Elizabeth Ashton. You can only settle for the best."

I rolled my eyes. Soon Caroline came back with at least ten dress bags in her hand.

"Alright, now if you try these on. If none of them are the one then if you would like you can try on a few more." She smiled.

I thanked her and she handed me the dress bags. I walked into the dressing room and hung up the dresses. I took the first dress out of the bag and put it on. I stared at myself in the mirror before walking out and showing the girls.

"Oh my gosh its so pretty." Emily gushed.

"I love it." Miranda said.

"Do you love it though?" Perrie asked.

I put my hands on my hips and looked down at the long skirt. I took a deep breath and shook my head. "No."

"Its okay. Its just the first one. Try on the next one." El told me.

I walked back into the dressing room and slipped off the dress. I placed it back into its dress bag and grabbed the next one. I took the second dress out of the dress bag and slipped it on. I walked out into the room and the girls studied me for a moment.

"It doesn't make you pop..." El commented.

"Yeah, its kind of dull." Emily told me.

I nodded in agreement. "Yeah. I'll go try on the next one."

I walked back into the dressing room and slipped the previous dress off. I took the next dress out of its bag and slowly slipped it on. I stared at myself in the mirror and smiled. I walked back out into the room and the girls gaped.

"This is definitely my favorite  one that i've tried on so far out of all of them." I told them.

"Yeah. Its gorgeous. I love it." Perrie grinned.

"Do you think its the one though?" Emily asked.

I shrugged. "I don't know."

"Well put that in the maybe pile. Try on the next one." El told me.

I smirked at her. "Yes mum."

Again, I walked back into the dressing room and followed the same routine. take the dress off, put it away. Take next dress out, put it on. As soon as I had the next dress on I walked out into the room.

"Okay I'm just warning you now, if you get that dress Liam probably wouldn't be able to resist you from the moment you take that first step down the aisle." El told me.

I blushed.

"Yeah, you look hot." Miranda commented.

I rolled my eyes. "Hot? Really?"

"Its a compliment. Accept it." She smirked.

"Well, I don't completely love it so, its a no." I told them.

"Next dress!" El ordered me.

I walked back into the dressing room and took the dress off. After slipping it into its dress bag I took out the next dress and slipped it on. As soon as I walked out into the room El put a disgusted look on her face.

"Oh god. Elizabeth Ashton, I refuse to let you walk down the aisle in that. You look like a damn cupcake. Go back and change." She said.

I smirked. "Well maybe I love it." I teased.

"You can't be serious..."

"I'm kidding don't worry. I absolutely hate it too." I laughed as I walked back to the dressing room.

I slipped the cupcake dress off and slipped the next dress on. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. I walked out into the room and studdied the girls expressions.

"Wow." Miranda said simply.

"I really love it." I gushed.

"So its the one?" El asked excitedly.

I walked over to the full length mirror and studied myself. Could I see myself walking down the aisle in this dress? Marrying the man I love?

After a long moment I took a deep breath and shook my head. "No."

I walked back into the dressing room and slipped off the dress. I probably wouldn't find the dress today. I grabbed the next dress bag an slowly unzipped the zipper. I pulled the dress out and held it in my hands for a moment before slipping it on. Once it was secure on my body I looked at myself in the mirror and sucked in my breath. It was gorgeous. The long, beautiful skirt that perfectly highlighted my figure. The wrapped bodice tied it all together perfectly. Slowly, I stepped out into the room, still looking down at the dress I stood in. I almost felt tears in my eyes because it was so perfect, so gorgeous. The girls only gaped.

"Oh my gosh, she has tears in her eyes." Miranda smiled.

"Its the one isn't it?" El asked.

I never took my eyes off the beautiful dress as I nodded. "Its the one." I took a breath. "Its the one." I repeated.

"Are you positive?" Emily asked.

I nodded my head. "I'm positive."

"Well, how does it feel to be standing in the dress you'll marry Liam in?" Perrie asked.

I looked up at her, tears of joy in my eyes. "It feels incredible. Honestly."  My hands covered my mouth to hide my wide smile. "Oh my gosh, I'm getting married in this dress. I'm marrying Liam, me best friend in six months. Oh my god." I whispered, everything all finally catching up to me.

"You're getting married." Emily smiled.

I turned to Caroline who was patiently waiting in the entry way to the room.

"This is it. This is the one." I told her.

"Congratulations. Would you like us to hold on to the dress for you or will you be holding on to it?" She asked.

I turned to El. "Will you hold my dress if I hold yours?"

"Of course." She smiled.

"Alright. Well if you'll follow me, I'll show you to the bridesmaid dresses." Caroline smiled.

***Liam's POV***

Hours passed and the lads and I had gone through many details of the wedding. They had left about an hour ago and now I sat here thinking. In a little more than five months I'll be married to Beth. The girl I met on the first day of primary school, my best friend... she would be mine. My wife. That brought a smile to my face. I heard the front door open and moments later Beth walked in, a huge smile on her face.

"Hey." She grinned.

"Hey yourself. You look happy." He told her.

"Well I suppose every girl is happy after they find the dress they're going to marry the love of their life in." She told me.

A grin spread across my face. "You found your dress?"

She nodded. "Liam, oh my god. Its amazing. Its gorgeous. I'm serious when I say I almost cried when I tried it on. Its so perfect."

"Can I see it?" I asked her.

"No. You can't see it until the wedding. Rules." She told me, a smile on her face.

"I have to wait six months?" I groaned.

"It'll be worth the wait." She told me.

I pulled her into my lap and held her close to me.

"I love you." I told her.

"I love you more." She grinned.

I shook my head. "Thats impossible."

"Nothing is impossible Liam." She smiled.

"You're impossible." I teased.

She raised her eyebrows. "Oh I am?"

I kissed her nose lightly. "But I love you for it. Along with everything else about you."

"I don't know about everything. I have my flaws." She told me.

"I love you, your flaws and all. Your flaws make you human. They make you real. Without them you'd just be a perfect human being." I told her.

"Whats so bad about being perfect?" She asked.

"Perfect is boring." I said simply.

"Well, for what its worth, I love you, your flaws and all." She smiled.
