Safe And Sound (Triquel to Red)

"Elizabeth Ashton was more that just a girl to me. She was my best friend, she was the love of my life, she was my light. Since the day I met her when we were 5 years old there hasn't been a single day that I didn't love her. Without her, I wouldn't be the man I am today. She taught me so many things. She taught me to never give up on myself and to never let anyone tell me who I am, who I want to be. She taught me to believe in myself even when no one else did. Through the 15 years that I knew her, just the thought of her made me smile. Now I can't help but look back on all of the memories we made. The pillow fights, the sleep overs, the ghost stories. She made me happier than anyone else ever could. She put a smile on my face even when I was on the verge of tears and she always knew what to say. So much of the world knows Elizabeth Ashton as the girl who broke free from her past and created a future...

***Beth's POV***

I arrived back at the hotel later that day still feeling a bit overwhelmed. The sound of my heels softly clicked against the carpeted floor as I made my way to mine and Liam's room. As soon as I reached room 1122 I slid they keycard in and pushed the door open. I could hear the shower running in the bathroom so I walked into the bedroom and kicked my shoes off. I took out my phone and plugged it into the charger and walked back into the main room. I sat down on the couch and grabbed the remote off the table and clicked the TV on. As I clicked through channels I looked for one that looked even remotely interesting but as I flipped through them my hope slowly died. I finally decided on a channel that was currently playing some Harry Potter movie but payed no attention to it. My mind was in another place. I thought about what Liam had said before. Does he really still think Louis and I have something going on? I sighed and looked down at the diamond on my finger. Did this mean nothing to him.

"Beth?" I heard Liam ask from behind me.

"Hm?" I mumbled, not looking at him.

"When did you get back?" He asked.

I looked up and over the back of the couch and saw Liam standing there in nothing but a towel loosely draped around his waist.

"Like five minutes ago." I said, not able to take my eyes off him.

He sighed. "I'm sorry. What I said was uncalled for. I'll get dressed and we can talk about it okay?"

I shrugged. "Or you could just stay in that."

He smirked a little. "Wouldn't you just wish."

He walked back into the bedroom and minutes later emerged in sweats and a Jack Wills shirt. He sat down beside me and I sighed.

"Liam why do you still think Louis and I have a thing?" I asked.

He avoided eye contact. "I don't."

"Yeah you do. You always get defensive when I'm with him." I said knowingly.

He ran a hand through his wet hair and sighed. "Because I've seen too many stories about you two that I don't know what to think. You are always spending time together. You tell him things that you don't tell me and at times you act like its just you two in the room. What am I supposed to think?"

I studied his expression deeply. His eyes avoided mine and the corners of his mouth were turned down.

"Liam, do you honestly think I would ever choose Louis over you?" I asked.

He shrugged. "I don't know what to think."

"No, give me a solid answer." I told him.

He stayed silent for a moment before looking at me. "Yeah. Thats what I think."

"Liam." I sighed. "When you proposed, you didn't just ask me to marry you, you asked me to commit, to promise to always be yours and stand by you. To love you unconditionally no matter what life throws in our path. I love you Liam. Only you. Louis? Yeah, sure, he's a great guy. But theres one problem with him. He's not you. Louis is a friend. He's a best friend. But you? You are the man I will have my eyes on the moment I walk down the aisle in a white dress. You are the man I am going to spend the rest of my life with. You Liam." I told him.

He looked at me for a moment before looking up at the ceiling, a small smile playing on his face.

"I'm an idiot aren't I?" He said, a bit amused.

A small smile spread across my face. "A little bit. Yeah. But, I love you for it."

He took my hand into his and squeezed it. He softly kissed my hand and I smiled.

"I love you." He said, a smile on his face.

I laid my head on his shoulder and he put an arm around my waist.

"I love you too." I replied.

"And for the record, my eyes will only be on you the moment you step down the aisle." He told me.

"Are you sure?" I smiled.

He looked down at me and grinned. "Positive."

We were interrupted by a knock on the door. Liam squeezed my hand once more before getting up and opening the door. The girls stood there, grins on their faces.

"We're going to have to kidnap Beth for a few hours." El grinned.

"Why?" I groaned.

"Wedding stuff. We need to go." Miranda told me.

Liam looked at me with a sympathetic look. "Looks like you have no choice. You know those bridesmaids and their evil plans."

"Liam shut up!" El gasped.

"Oh leave them alone Liam." I laughed.

I walked into the bedroom and relocated my shoes. After slipping them on I grabbed a coat and my phone and walked back to the door where the girls were still waiting.

"I think you forgot something." Liam smirked.

I looked at him. "Oh? And what would that be?"

He grabbed my waist and pulled my body towards his. His lips were pressed to mine and I smiled.

"Got it." I replied, a grin on my face.

"See you later. Call me when you're done and I'll meet you for dinner somewhere." He told me.

"Alright." I smiled.

"I love you." He said, kissing me one more time.

"I love you too." I replied.

"Bye." He smiled.

I walked out with the girls and Liam shut the door behind us.

"So, whats so important that you had to pull me away?" I asked.

"Its a surprise." El grinned.

I rolled my eyes."You know I hate surprises."

"I think you'll like this one." Emily told me.

I looked at them warily. "I guess I'll just have to trust you."

We walked to the elevator and got in. El pushed the lobby button and the elevator slowly made its way down.

"So I see you and Liam made up." Perrie smiled.

I nodded. "I just had to clear a few things up."

The elevator arrived at the lobby and the five of us walked out. I followed them out of the hotel and El opened the door to a limo that was parked out front.

"Okay this is already too much." I told her.

She looked at me and smirked. "Beth honey, you're getting married. Its never too much."

I sighed and followed them into the limo. The song I Love It was already blasting. As the limo pulled away from the hotel the girls all turned to me.

"So, we need details about what you have and haven't planned yet." She said.

"Well our wedding song is A Drop In The Ocean. The color is pink. We've chosen a venue thats a grassy field thats right along the beach. Of course our bridesmaids and groomsmen. Our bachelor and bachelorette parties..." I told them. "Thats about it."

"Alright. So when you get back you and Liam are meeting with the wedding planner right?" El asked.

I nodded. "Yeah on the 9th."

"Okay. We still have a ton of stuff we need to plan. Have you thought about the honeymoon?" She asked.

I shook my head. "We haven't even begun to think about that."

"Alright." She said.

A few minutes later the limo pulled into an elegant looking shop and when I looked closer I saw that it was a bridal store.

"Oh my gosh, you guys didn't." I gasped.

"Theres no guarantee the dress is here." Perrie pointed out as we hopped out of the limo.

I nodded. "Yeah. Its probably going to take some time."

"We can also look at their bridesmaid dresses." Emily said.

"Don't you need to make appointments in advance for these kinds of places?" I asked.

They all looked at me funny.

"Beth, you're Elizabeth Ashton. Any bridal shop in the world would cancel an appointment to have you shop in their bridal shop." El smiled.

I rolled my eyes. We followed El inside and we were greeted by a woman in a light blue suit.

"Hello, I'm Anna. Its so nice to meet you girls." She smiled. "So, Elizabeth, what kind of dress are you looking for?"

I shrugged. "I honestly don't know."

"Arlight. We'll try you out with a few different styles. While I get those for you why don't you all look at the bridesmaid dresses."She said.

"Alright. Thank you." I smiled a fake smile.

She walked off and  we walked over to where the bridesmaid dresses were.

"I can already tell I'm going to hate this." I groaned.

"Why? Beth, this is the time you choose the dress that you're going to walk down the aisle in. The dress you say your vows in. The most important dress in your life." El told me.

"I know. And I want the dress to be perfect. But I just hate the process of it." I told her.

"Who doesn't?" Miranda said.

Anna came back with a bunch of dress bags , some looked a bit too overstuffed. She handed me the dress bags.

"Alright. Now the dressing room is over there. Just let me know if there is anything you need." She told me.

I smiled. "Thank you."

She walked off and I walked to a dressing room. After closing the door I looked at myself in the mirror for a moment. In only a few moments I could be standing in the dress that I'm getting married in. Its a bit scary to be honest. I unzipped one of the dress bags and pulled out a long dress with a peplum skirt. I slipped off my clothes and slipped on the dress. I must say, it was a beautiful dress but I wasn't too sure about it. I slowly opened the door to the dressing room and walked out. The girls eyes widened and they gasped.

"Wow. You look incredible." Emily gaped.

"I love the dress." Miranda grinned.

I sighed and looked down at it.

"But... you don't absolutely love it." El said, almost reading my mind.

"Nailed it." I said, a small smile on my face.

"Try on the others! This is just the first one!" El grinned.

I walked back to the dressing room and slipped off the dress and put it back into the bag. I grabbed another dress bag and took the dress out. I looked at it and slipped it on. I stared at myself in the mirror for a moment examining the dress. I stepped out of the dressing room and looked down at the dress.

"I love it. Holy crap." Perrie gasped.

"Its not... you. Though." Miranda stated.

"I think it looks really pretty on her." Emily debated.

"Beth, what do you think?" El asked.

I shook my head. "I think it makes me look ten times older."

"I'd second that." Emily said.

I nodded and walked back to the dressing room.

"Dress number three!" I smiled.

I walked back into the dressing room and slipped off the dress and put it back in its bag. I grabbed the next bag and took the dress out. I slipped it over my body and examined it in the mirror. It was actually really beautiful. Definitely my favorite dress so far. I walked out of the dressing room and the girls grinned.

"Its gorgeous." El breathed.

"But is it the one?" Emily asked.

I looked over at Anna. "How do you know when its the one?"

She smiled. "You just... know. You get this feeling when you see the dress."

I looked down at the dress again and shook my head. "Its a beautiful dress. But, its not the one."

"Well if I ever get married I'd want that dress." El said, admiring my dress.

I smirked at her. Little did she know...

"Well your time will come. Don't worry." I told her.

"Who cares. Go try on the next one!" She said.

I walked back to the dressing room and slipped out of the current dress. I put it back into the bag and grabbed the next one. I slipped it on an examined the ivory colored dress. It almost had a gold tint to it. I walked out of the dressing room and the girls just looked at me.

"No. I will not let you walk down the aisle in that thing. I don't care if you love it." El told me.

I laughed. "Wow El. Thanks for being the supportive maid of honor."

"I'm supporting you by politely telling you that you shouldn't get that dress." She told me.

"Well good. Because I'm not too fond of it either." I grinned.

I walked back to the dressing room and did the same routine as before. Slip it off, bag it and put the next one on. I examined the next dress. I walked out into the room and the girls studied me for a moment.

"Its pretty but in my opinion there are too many jewels on the top half." Emily pointed out.

"Yeah I agree. Liam would be looking at your boobs the whole night." Miranda laughed.

I rolled my eyes and laughed. "Yeah he really probably would."

"Are there anymore dresses?" Perrie asked.

I nodded. "One more."

I walked back to the dressing room, slipped off the dress and put it in the bag. I took out the last dress and slipped it on. I walked back out into the room and they just gaped at me.

"Oh my gosh." Perrie gasped.

"You look amazing." Emily told me.

"But is it the one?" El asked.

I sighed and turned around and looked in the mirror once more. It fit my figure perfectly. It mad my skin look amazing... and yet, I couldn't see myself walking into a new life wearing it.

"No. Not its not." I told them.

"Alright. I think its better that we look for one back in London anyway." El told me.

"Did you find any bridesmaid dresses that you liked?" I asked.

They shook their heads.I turned to Anna and smiled.

"Well thank you for your time. While I didn't find the dress I was looking for I loved the ones I tried on. You may be seeing us again soon for one of the ones I tried on for her." I smiled gesturing to El.

She looked at me her eyes wide. "What do you mean soon? Louis probably is never going to propose to me."

I looked at her and shook my head with a smile. "You just watch."

I looked at Anna again. "Thank you. Have a nice day." I smiled.

She nodded. "You too. It was nice meeting you girls. Congratulations Elizabeth." She smiled.

We walked outside and got into the limo. I took out my phone and texted Liam.

Beth: Just finished. Meet me at that cafe across the street from the hotel?

He texted back instantly.

Liam: I'll be there. I love you. :)

Beth: I love you too. See you soon. :)

I put my phone back in my pocket and smiled.

"Well, how did it feel to be standing in a wedding dress?" Perrie asked.

I grinned. "You know, it felt good. I still can't believe I'm marrying Liam in seven months. I mean, I've known him my whole life and now I'm marrying him."

"Its cute. You two are adorable together. Even when you weren't together in hight school. You acted like an old married couple like, twenty four seven." Miranda grinned.

I rolled my eyes. "Sure. Whatever you say."

The limo soon pulled into the hotel and we got out.

"I'm going to go meet Liam across the street for dinner. I'lll talk to you girls later." I smiled.

They nodded and waved goodbye. I made my way across the street and walked into the cafe. I looked around for a moment before I saw Liam sitting in a booth in the corner. I walked over to him and slid into the booth. He looked up and grinned.

"Well, fancy seeing you here." He smiled.

"Yeah I know. Must be a coincidence." I laughed.

"So what did the girls make you do?" He asked.

"They actually took me to a bridal shop and I tried on dresses." I told him.

He raised his eyebrows. "Really? Did you find one?"

I shook my head. "There were a lot of gorgeous dresses but none that really stood out. I couldn't see myself marrying you in any of them."

He took my hands into his on top of the table. "Well I'm sure you'll find the dress when we get back to London. I'm paying for it so get any dress you want. I don't care about the price or anything."

"No you're not paying for it!" I gasped.

"Yes I am." He chuckled. "I'm not taking no for an answer."

I looked at him and shook my head with a smiled. "You're impossible you know that?"

"But you love me." He grinned.

"Yeah, you're lucky I love you." I smiled.

I couldn't stop smiling.

"You seem really happy right now." He said.

I sighed with contentment. "Yeah well a girl should be happy when she finds the guy she's going to marry. I mean, just think about it. In seven months we're going to be married. I'm going to be Elizabeth Payne. Not Elizabeth Ashton."

That brought a grin to his face. "Stop you're going to make me amazingly happy too. I love the way my last name sounds with  your name. It fits so perfectly." He grinned.

"Yeah? Well you and I fit so perfectly together." I smiled.

He couldn't wipe the smile off his face.

"God, I love you so damn much." He grinned.

"I love you Liam. I really do." I smiled.
