Luck & Love {A Harry Syles Fan Fiction}

Courtney is dragged to a concert by her younger sister and by fate meets Harry. She doesn't know him and doesn't listen to his music but he enjoys her company and witty remarks. When she goes to visit her mum in London, he can't help but want to go home every chance he gets. Harry charms her in every way but she can't help thinking of her old flame, Elijah, and the broken heart that came along with it.

15. Conversations

“So if I were looking to listen to some of your music, where would I start?”

There was silence for a moment before Harry spoke. “You know there is a sort of thing called iTunes…”

“Do I just look up One Direction? There’s no sort of order?”

“That is what our band is called…”

“It can’t be a band if you don’t actually play any instruments, Harry-“

“That’s one person, silly.”

“I can play the guitar too. Louis can play piano-“

“Alright!” I interrupted him with a laugh. “It’s a band.”

“Glad you think so, Court.”

“It’s a boy band.”

“Of course it’s a boy band, Court. We’re all gents.”

“You know what I meant, Harry-“

“If you don’t stop making fun of my gents band-“

“Just tell me what to listen to then Harry!”

“Start with the first album?” he suggested. I could hear the sarcasm in his voice.

I hit my hand with my forehead, letting out the side. “Are you trying to make me go crazy?”

There was silence before he spoke. “Is it working?” Harry sounded like he was trying to hold in his laughter.

“Is that a noose in my closet?” I said jokingly.

“Alright! I guess if you were going to listen to them then you should listen to them in the order they came out.”

“Harry, I need album names.”

“We have two so far. One is Up All Night, that came out first.”

I typed the name in quickly before hitting the buy and download buttons. “And the other one?”

“It’s called Take Me Home.”

I did the same for the second album before leaning back in my chair. “Finally!” I exclaimed. “You sure do like stringing me along.”

“I wouldn’t call it stringing…”

I held back my chuckle and let out a smile instead. “So are you there yet?”

“No, still driving. I have about half an hour left.”

“I bet now you wished your family lived closer to London.”

“No! Holmeschapel is just perfect the way and where it is. Away from everything.”

“Yeah but don’t fans follow you out there anyways?”

“Sometimes. But I just let them take pictures then they go away.”

“Well that’s just plain rubbish!” I exclaimed in my best English accent.

Harry laughed. “You’re getting better at that.”

“It helps hanging around with you,” I admitted.

“Anything to help further your acting career!” he joked, while I laughed. “Any more thought on doing that musical at your school?”

I sat there for a couple moments processing his words. I had forgotten that I had told him about that. I could feel my stomach knotting up at the thought. “I don’t know Harry-“

“Please say you’ll do it Court.”

“Why?” I said, panicking slightly.

“I think it would be a great opportunity for you,” Harry began. “It would help you fill in time during your off hours, it would be an excellent after hours and/or extra circular activity to put on your transcripts-“

“Did you just say and slash or?”

Harry ignored my quip. “-As well as it would help you get over your stage fright. And I would love to hear you sing.”

“Harry-“ I said, feeling the fright creeping up on me at the thought of preforming in front of people.

“Please tell me you’ll at least think about it, Court. It would give me excuses to come and see you in New York.”

I hesitated. Could I even give him the benefit of the doubt that I would think about it, even though knew fully well that I wouldn’t?

“I can’t make any promises, Harry. But I will go to the auditions. I can’t guarantee that I’ll get up on stage but I’ll be there.”

“I guess that’s all I can ask for.”

I let out a sigh, some of my panic leaving my body as well. Auditions were in the middle of January, I remember dad telling me about them everyday in December. They were still a couple weeks away. I had time to think this over and come up with a plan.

“I’ll make the effort. Just stop bugging me about it already, dad,” I joked.

“Hey! I’m no Daddy Directioner! That’s Liam.”

“Which one was that again? There’s too many of you.”

I heard Harry sigh. “Court there’s only 5 of us. I honestly think you’re the only female in the United Kingdom right now who doesn’t know who we are.”

“5 are too many. I’m terrible with names.”

“There’s 5 and that’s just enough.” Harry said, stating the fact. “You just need to hang around them a bit more. I’ll plan a Christmas party and I’ll make sure you’re there along with all the guys.”

“Make sure they wear name tags.”

“Make sure you listen to some of our music.”

“They’re downloading now! Give them some time!”

There was a pounding on the stairs before my mother stuck her head into my room. I turned my head around to see her.

“We’re leaving in 15 Courtney, are you almost ready?”

I held the phone away from my ear quickly while I talked to her. “Yeah just downloading a couple songs. I’ll be down in a couple, mum.” She quickly nodded her head before she went across the hall and knocked on Kam’s door, asking her the same question.

“Anyways, Harry I have to get going. Mum is trying to get us out the door for dinner at John’s parents.”

“Okay, I’ll call you tomorrow, yeah? You can tell me everything you got from Saint Nick.”

I laughed and smiled. “Sounds perfect.”

“Happy Christmas Eve, Courtney.”

“Happy Christmas Eve, Harry.”
