32. Planning to leave

Once the boys had finished tiding up the four of us headed up the stairs to bed. Molly and I went one way Mason and Dylan the other. Halfway through the night there was a small tap on the door I stood up and walked to the door to check it out it was Dylan.

“Hey can we talk,” he said as we walked along the landing I nodded so he started talking, “Listen I’m sorry that I didn’t get Mason to tell me what he was hiding from you today I honestly tried.”

“I know you did your best,” I said as he leaned on the wall in front of me. He was so close again that I could feel his heart beat strong and steady and his breath fast but calm. It was strange to be this close to him yet almost not be close to him in a way. I could see his chest heaving up and down but not feel it and I could feel his heart beat but not see it.

“So are we good?” he said smiling happily at me. I thought about it for a second if I said yes he would leave but if I said no he would be hurt and we would be here for ages.

“Yeah we’re good,” I said smiling back and he wrapped his arms around me and gave me the biggest hug ever. Then he bid me goodnight and we went our separate ways. I was really happy when I got back to bed and I fell asleep straight away.

When I woke up I was the first one up so I sat there writing hoping that Molly would wake up, but it had been an hour and she was still asleep her chest heaving up and down at a steady pace. So I walked onto the landing and tapped on the boy’s door and Dylan answered.

“Can I help you madam,” he said smiling, “No seriously what do you want?”

“Er that’s not very nice,” I said laughing, “But if you must know I’m bored and awake and no one else was so…” He smiled and stepped out of the room still smiling.

“Come on then let’s go downstairs and have some breakfast,” Dylan said as we walked, “Although I must warn you we have no yogurt no milk and no bread either so it will be a very limited breakfast.” I smiled at him and once we reached the kitchen we both settled on an apple each.

“So how has your time here been so far,” I said getting ready to say the one thing I have been dreading the entire conversation.

“Not so bad Mason is a bit dull and Molly doesn’t talk much but you know it’s alright,” Dylan said but he wasn’t smiling and I knew that he knew what was coming next.

“We have to leave,” I said bluntly, “We have stayed here too long I think that was are mistake on lucky street we need to keep moving but we can’t bring the others it’s not safe.” Dylan nodded.

“Fine pack your bags we leave tonight,” he said biting his lip, “I hope your right about this Angel cause I trust you.”
