13. Cleaning up

When I woke up Cooper was standing over me smiling maliciously; he bared his perfect white teeth at me and growled.

“Come on you will become one of us today or your friend gets it you understand,” he said glaring at me.

“Come on there has to be something else I can do to pay back what happened please I’ll do anything just don’t make me become one of you,” I said glancing at Dylan for help but he stayed quiet,

“Fine you will stay here and work for us for two weeks at least doing whatever we say ok,” Cooper said promptly, “And know this I am only letting you off with this because I still love you and I want you to be happy ok.”

“Fine what do we have to do today;” Dylan said impatiently, “Sorry all this sappy stuff is boring me.” Cooper glared at him but relaxed and turned to both of us smiling.

“Today you will be disposing of all the dead bodies on the front street and in the houses,” Cooper said, “Oh and if you even think about running away I will shoot you both on site so don’t pull anything.”

“No problem we won’t,” I said as three guards came in and with the help of Cooper they dragged the pair of us down corridor after corridor until we were outside. They then shoved us in a van and drove us down to a street filled with bodies. Once we got out Cooper smiled at us and opened the back of the van.

“Now here’s the plan,” Cooper said still smiling, “You will get all the bodies and put them in the back we will drive them to the bonfire and burn them then come back for more then at the end of the day we will come and pick you up, do you understand.”

“Yes Cooper,” I said like he was a teacher, “I understand.” Cooper smiled at me then turned to Dylan.

“I understand as well Cooper,” Dylan said grumpily, “I’ll do as you say.”

“Good,” Cooper said proudly, “Then I guess I will see you both at the end of the day, and remember don’t try to escape I will shoot you both.”

“We won’t,” I said as he walked off and then I turned to Dylan and rolled my eyes, “Come on we best get started or it will take all day. Dylan laughed and started shifting bodies, it was very tiring work and the smell was foul. By the end of the day we had filled about 10 vans full of bodies and I had the smell of rotting flesh stuck in my nose.

“That was awful,” Dylan said wiping his hands on his jeans.”

“Oh are we stating the obvious now,” I muttered angrily walking off.
