“So,” I said smiling at Mason kindly, “Have you all lived here forever?”

“What,” Mason said looking up startled he hadn’t been listening, “No I came from London with my sister Miranda. We met Rebecca in York and she had met Lucas in Darlington. We met Josie in Hull then we all came up here.”

“But why would you do that,” I said puzzled, “Why come up here to more monsters?”

“Cause down in London it had already started about a week ago so I came up here looking for safety now I know it’s not here then we can move back down south where it is safer you’re welcome to come but you can also stay here.” I looked at Mason when he had finished he smiled.

“Of cause I’m coming you can’t get rid of me that easily besides it’s only the adults that are being affected,” I said smiling, “So we can rule the world can’t we.”

“Yeah I suppose so,” Mason said smiling, “I’ll miss this place but I guess it’s time to move on and head down south.” He smiled laughing as Josie walked in.

“Hey what’s going on,” Josie said smiling sweetly.

“Were heading to London,” Mason said it over and over as the others walked in.

“Why I like it here,” Miranda said walking over to her brother and smiling.

“We have to go it’s not safe here you know it’s not,” Mason said sighing, “I’ll miss it here too but we have no choice.”

“Fine we’ll go,” Rebecca said sounding grumpy, “But this is the last time we move ok.”

“Good,” Lucas spoke for the first time today, “We better get packing then eh.” He juddered his hands shaking violently and he reminded me of my mother before she had turned.

“Are you ok Lucas?” I said frowning at him sceptically, “You look like you have been told you have three weeks to live.” Lucas laughed but he still had a glazed look in his eyes.

“I’m fine just thinking,” he said as I carried on staring, “Trust me I’m fine ok.”

“Ok,” I said still doubting him, “Come on we better get packing.” He followed me up to the bedrooms and then we parted as he walked towards the boy’s room.

“You ok?” Josie asked smiling at me from the bed she was sitting on.

“Yeah I’m good,” I said frowning, “Just puzzled that’s all.”

“Well come on it will be fine,” she said smiling. I nodded but couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something wrong with Lucas.
