31. 5 years earlier- The prisoner

I was left standing in the living room with Miranda who was still tied up to the chair. I sighed and untied her from the chair my arms raised ready to block the door. But she didn’t move from the chair instead she sat there defeated tears in her eyes.

“Are you ok Miranda?” I asked walking towards her. She had her head bent down, her eyes scanning the floor.

“Yeah I’m fine just tired,” she said frowning, “    I think I’ll just go to bed goodnight.” I found this very puzzling because it was still morning but I smiled anyway.

“Hey wait I’ll come with you,” I said running towards her she sighed but nodded as I lead her up the stairs. Once we had reached the first floor I guided Miranda down the corridor towards a small child’s bedroom and placed her down on the bed.

“Thank you,” she said smiling sweetly as I headed for the door. Once outside I paused for a second and locked the door I did it because I knew she was up to something. Then I headed along the corridor searching for Rebecca and Josie. I found them in the second living room playing cards.

“Hey,” I said smiling then I frowned when I saw their faces, “Listen I’m really sorry I didn’t mean to hurt you it’s just you were making Miranda feel worse so I thought… look I just snapped that all do you forgive me?”

“Yeah of cause I do,” Rebecca said smiling come on I’ll deal you in. It was a really strange game of cards but I soon got the hang of it and it turned out to be quite fun so we kept playing over and over again and again. Then I remembered that I had locked Miranda in.

“One of us has to be sitting with Miranda at all times,” I said matter of factly, “I’m worried she will try to go save him by herself if we don’t.” Josie and Rebecca both nodded and I lead them down the corridor to where I had locked Miranda in. The lock was still working so I opened the door and there she was sitting on the bed but you could tell that she had just jumped onto it from the way she was sitting.

“Busted,” Josie said as we all crowded into the room and burst out laughing. Miranda’s eyes were burning with a mix of anger and tears of embarrassment.

“Leave me alone!” she said frowning and turning her back on us but it didn’t work we stayed put, “Why are you picking on me like this it isn’t fair how would you like it?”

“It’s your own fault Miranda,” Rebecca said still smirking, “Now do us all a favour and go to sleep.” We all burst out laughing as we walked out the room and relocked the door.

“That should hold her for now,” Josie said smiling at us and suddenly we couldn’t hold it in any longer we completely burst out laughing.
