33. 5 years earlier- The jump

Suddenly we heard a loud bang followed by another and another and so on. I jolted awake and ran to rouse Rebecca and Josie.

“It’s them pack the bags don’t leave anything we need behind,” I said as I headed back down the corridor, “I’ll fetch Miranda.” I ran down the long winding corridor and reached the door on the end it was locked of cause it was I twisted the lock and burst in on her.

“What are you doing?” she said standing up and yawning, “Is it Mason?”

“No it’s them come on we have to go,” I said starting to drag her but she stayed put her eyes solid and determined.

“I’m not leaving Mason might come back for me,” Miranda said crying as she stood there standing her ground while the monsters hammered own the front door.

“You need to be strong for Mason he died to save you so don’t make him die in vain you need to live to avenge him,” I said to her hopping it would work. It worked something in Miranda’s mind clicked and we suddenly had the real Miranda back. She tore along the corridor with me and we rushed to help the others pack. Once we were all done we chucked them out the window facing the garden.

“We have to jump like in that book Divergent,” Rebecca said but she sounded nervous, “Angel you go first.” I sighed what babies they were I wasn’t scared at all by the thought of jumping of the building. I scanned the area there was a trampoline directly below me and I suddenly had a plan. I edged through the open window and stood on the ledge, images of me and my sister flashed through my mind but I pushed them to one side as I reached the edge of the ledge. I looked down eyeing my target and jumped; my feet hit the trampoline and I bounced back up did a flip and landed feet first on the floor.

“Eight years of gymnastics comes in handy sometimes,” I said laughing, “Come on guys come join me.” One by one Rebecca and Miranda jumped and landed but Josie wouldn’t jump.

“I can’t do it guys I’m too high up,” Josie wailed edging onto the ledge, “I’ll fall and hurt myself.”

“Josie you have to trust me,” I said bending down, “There is a trampoline right there just drop and land on there.” She nodded and reached the edge then she closed her eyes and fell. I didn’t look until I heard a ping from the trampoline indicating she had jumped.

“I did it I jumped off a building,” Josie said smiling and everyone else smiled to but I couldn’t celebrate because I remembered that I had forgotten something.

“I have to go back inside I’m sorry but I have to,” I said panicking, “I have too I’m sorry.”
