4. 5 years earlier- the escape

“Mum I think you need to calm down,” I said calmly and slowly trying to get her to loosen her hold on the knife.

“Mother you’re scaring me” my sister wept, “Please let go of her throat.” I looked into my sister’s eyes and felt the sorrow as her voice shook. My mother’s hand wavered as if she was debating whether or not to kill me. Then she gasped and dropped the knife, I didn't give her a second chance I grabbed my sister’s hand and dragged her off upstairs.

After packing up some useful stuff I pushed a bag out of the window then climbed onto the ledge after it I turned around to see my sister shivering in my bedroom,

“I don’t know about this sis,” my sister said anxiously, “Maybe we should wait for mum to... calm down.”

“Look I’ll be honest with you mum isn't going to calm down,” I said truthfully, “Come on you have to trust me we have to leave now!” My sister sighed and stepped out onto the ledge and once I had got down I helped her to jump of as well.

The moment we were on the ground I grabbed the old musty gym bag that I had stuffed with only the most important of items. I grabbed my sisters hand; then in one swift movement we started running through the forest. I cleared ground in the forest without feeling my feet pass by as I tore across the earth. I was practically flying instead of running; all the while dragging my sister along without knowing what I was doing.

“Sis, stop sis, don’t do this aw your hurting me.,” my sister moaned loudly, “Listen let’s just stop and rest mums not following us and I’m tired.” I sighed and looked down at her finally standing still.

“Fine we’ll rest for a bit, but only for a little while,” I said as my knees buckled and I sank to the ground beside her. She looked up at me with big blue eyes and smiled.

“Hey I’m sorry about not trusting you before sis,” my sister said tears pouring down her cheeks; “If only I had listened to you we wouldn't be in this mess.”

“Stop it it’s not our fault you didn't cause this infection,” I said smiling. “Anyway I’m shattered so I think we’ll stay here the night goodnight sis.” She smiled at me and yawned.

“Yeah I need the toilet first so I’ll be back in a second,” my sister said smiling sweetly as she dashed off towards the tree line. She was gone quite a while and I was starting to get worried so I headed off into the clump of trees that she had disappeared in.

“Sis,” I called worriedly, “Sis where are you?” I was getting panicked 'now where could she be?' Suddenly as if on cue I heard a high pitched scream. 'It couldn't be her could it?'

“Sis is that you,” I called out worriedly but all that answered me was silence.
