164. The Sin Of Kissing

ROSIE'S POV:

"You want to go somewhere today?"

Niall's talking softly to me as he plays on the Xbox beside Justin, on the floor of my brothers bedroom. Carla is laying down on the bed with a magazine and I'm standing in the doorway, having just been downstairs to see what everyone was doing. It's a beautiful Sunday morning. The sun is out and everyone is at home, chilling out and spending time with each other.

Chloe and Lola are getting ready to go out to the shopping centre with some of their other friends and both my mum and dad are trying to do some work on their laptops in the lounge.

"Well where would we go?"

"Could go for a walk, get out for a bit?"

"Yeah," I chuckle "sure. We'll go on a walk and find a group of girls to get mobbed by."

"The harder you try to not get found, the easier it is for them to find you." Niall says calmly -repeating the same phrase he tells himself when he's nervous about living a life dictated by the paprazzi and fans.

Justin freezes and looks away from the screen as he tries to work it out. Dumb ass. I just giggle. "Okay, fine. We can do that. Where should we go for a walk?"

"You could go up to the woods." Justin suggests, turning back to the game of grand theft auto.

"Mm..." I grunt, not that interested. There's got to be somewhere else. Luckily living in Croydon has it's benefits. We are close enough to count ourselves as part of London, but also live on the border of Surrey -a more rural and green county.

"There's a few public trails we can get to by car. Fancy that?"

"Yeah alright. Give me ten minutes and we'll go."

Once I've pulled a few snacks out from the back of the cupboards for later and Niall's gotten himself ready, we hop into my car and spend the next ten minutes travelling further into the countryside with the tall, grey city behind us. I park up in a small gravelled car park where serious hikers are getting ready for the day and pulling all of their gear on -back packs, walking boots, thin Lycra jackets and an occasional wooly hat. We look very out of place with our trainers, hoodies, skinny jeans and young faces. As soon as we jump out of the car Niall looks over at me and tries his hardest not to laugh, which of course makes me start giggling.

I pull my bag filled with snacks out of the boot and Niall takes my other hand, swinging them between us as we walk in the general direction that everybody else is walking in -towards a little hut where the walk starts and the staff that look after this particular piece of land are handing out maps.

Behind the hut is a large clearing and then a thin lining of trees on the opposite side.
Niall nudges closer to me and then bumps my shoulder as he whispers in my ear, his accent practically inaudible, as if he's trying to draw as little attention to us as possible. "Why are they all looking at us?"

I look to the right where there is a small group of older men, all looking over at us with interest. I try not to laugh as I whisper back to him, swinging our hands a little more to distract myself from the amusement.

"I don't know, but for some reason I don't think it's because they recognise you."

"Me neither. But I never knew holding hands was such a sin."

I honestly wish I could take a picture of the lady behind us; her grey and wrinkled face is a sight as she looks down at our interlocked fingers.

"Jesus." I laugh, understanding exactly what made him come out with that statement.

"What do you think she'd do if I kissed you? Should I try it out?"

I imagine her eyes popping at the sight, which of course makes me laugh uncontrollably.
"Niall!" I laugh as he pretends to make a beeline for me, instead he plants a kiss on my hair and wraps his arm around my shoulder.

"This is gonna be a fun afternoon."

"I think so too." I laugh.
