Roses for Roselyn (Niall and Harry Fanfictions)

She was just an ordinary, grounded girl with a young, obsessive sister... little did she know that her sister's biggest idol was obsessing over her. Join Rosie and Rachel on their journey in love, friendship, obsession, fame and passion. What will happen? Who will happen? And most importantly, how will they cope with the disadvantages of 'the good life'?

160. 'My... My Album!?'

We’re in the same nail salon where I came with my mother, Rachel and Lola before my first ‘date’ with Niall Horan; the one that led up to our first, very un-private and quickly interrupted kiss. We’re sitting in the large recliner massage chairs with our toes soaking in bowls of sweet smelling soap.

Carla looks over at me and lets out a sigh, turning the firmness of her massage chair up on the dial. “Ah Rosie, this was a great idea.”

I lean my head back on the head rest and close my eyes. “You look like you’re enjoying it...”

“I am! I feel like I’ve been up on my feet since before all of this happened.” She points down at her bump.

"Well I'm not surprised. You had no idea the whole time that you were pregnant and running around doing things. Did you not notice that you were getting tired more quickly?"

"No, I mean I did, but I thought I just needed to work out more and get a little bit fitter. How was I supposed to know that it was because I had a little person growing inside of me? Thank god I don't smoke or drink..."

"Does it feel weird?"

"Extremely weird. Especially when it's kicking and you can see it from the outside."

"Woah..." I try to imagine but we just both end up giggling. "I bet it was a shock."

"A shock? I nearly had a heart attack. And well... You know what happened with Justin."

"He was bawling his eyes out." I smile. "Do you wish it had happened later?"

"Well that's what everyone wishes. They wish they'd been more settled or have more money or a better job... But when can you really go 'oh I think I'm ready now?' People are always going to want more money or a bigger house or more friends and family around them to help. I mean, it second nature to us -we're never happy with what we already have. We just want more, but there will never be a point when we say we have too much."

"Wow... Words of wisdom."

"I know," she winks at me, "philosophical right?"

"Yeah. So what've you been doing with your time?"

"Sitting around the house... eating... sleeping."

"What happened to your job? Mum mentioned something about your boss being a right cow."

"Oh she was. She was refusing to give me maternity leave because I ‘couldn't possibly be pregnant when I only found out at 6 months’. I mean that's sooo uncommon. ‘Women are just so prone to lying to get out of work.’ I tell you what, I’ll never doubt any of the mums on that show ‘I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant’ again…"

I laugh at her facial expression, hooked on her sarcastic words. "So what did you do?"

"I told her she could stick her damn job where the sun doesn't shine. Who wants to be sweeping hairs off of the floor for the rest of their life anyway? I want to be able to cut someone's hair, not do the dirty of someone else's haircut."

"Good for you. So what, after the baby you're going to start looking around?"

"Yep. I'm going to find somewhere else that values my time."

"That's great. A talented and pretty hair stylist like you -I'm sure there's a salon that's been searching for someone like you for ages."

"I hope so. I'm a bit tired of sitting around doing nothing."

After a few more minutes, two beauticians come over to ask us which colours we'd like and whether we'd like our finger nails doing too.

"Might as well." I smile at Carla. She goes for a sparkling ruby red whilst I choose a crystal clear, white with pieces of shimmering glitter.

Our feet are massaged and the bowls are taken away to be replaced by stools for the two working women.

"So when's the baby due?" The brunette opposite Carla smiles at Squish, whilst drying her feet with a towel.

"Oh, not long now. Just under 3 months."

"Quite young to be having a baby aren't you?" The blonde bob opposite me asks politely.

"I'm 20 and so is my boyfriend but there’s no time like the present."

"He must be a special guy in your life huh?"

Carla smiles over at me nervously. "Well yeah. He is. He helped me through my dad's early death and everything else."

"Sorry to hear that but that's so cute isn't it Laura?" The brunette nods.

"They've known each other since they were 8. They were best friends in primary school, weren't you?" I add, loving being able to tell the story to someone who doesn’t yet know.

"Yeah, we were."

"How lovely." The talkative blonde laughs lightly. She then points between the two of us. "So you two are... What? Friends?"

"Yeah we're friends." I giggle secretively. "But that little baby is also my niece or nephew."

"Her brother is my boyfriend…" Carla explains.

"Ohh okay! I was going to say you don't look like sisters..."

Laura, the blonde, speaks up. "That's so cool. I wish I was as close with my sister in laws as you too are. Do you think you'll be sisters in law one day?"

"If my brother ever becomes brave enough to pop the question."

Carla laughs and so do the two other girls.

"Don't you think she looks like someone Meg...?" Laura nods her head at me and turns to her colleague who's studying the nail varnish she's applying to my left foot. She looks up quickly and grins slightly. "Yeah."

"How do we know you love? You're not famous are you?"

I look around at the stacks and stacks of magazines that surround the cosy shop. That would explain it.

"No I'm not."

"Well you definitely look like someone we've seen before." It can’t have been from the last time I was here. There were different girls working that time.

Carla giggles from beside me and I'm suddenly aware of the other young girl sitting at the reception desk. She keeps squinting over at me and flicking through the pictures of a magazine until she reaches one particular page spread and prods it with her finger, holding it up to call to the other girls.

"Laura, Meg, she's from this one!"

I read the title on the cover -it's Heat magazine. I'm in Heat? Bloody hell. I look over at Carla and even she's surprised.

"So you're..." Meg tries to recall what she was reading about me earlier.

"Ohhh I know!" Laura interrupts. "You're dating Niall from One direction! Right?"

"That's me." I blush. I can't go anywhere without this happening nowadays. All of a sudden I retract into my shy shell as I normally do when I'm aware of just how much people know about me.

"That's great!" Is that all they say? "I wonder what it must be like to date one of them..." Laura wonders to herself.

"Well I wouldn't know." Carla jokes.

"It's busy. Very busy. Quite tiring, and very, very private." I roll my eyes for what feels like the tenth time today. Just the magazine spread is an example of how impersonal my life is now.

"How is it though? Does he buy you lots of things and take you out everywhere?"

I laugh. "No actually. I don't like him buying things for me and it's always nicer when we're at his flat by ourselves without people watching us or taking photos."

Laura nods but Meg looks at me like I'm crazy. "Have you been to any award shows yet? Any premieres?"

"Nope." I smile. "None of that yet."

"Well the Brits are coming up soon." Laura winks at me.

"We should get tickets." Meg nudges her colleague and they both smile at the idea.

Laura sighs to herself. “Ahh… I’ve always been one for Harry, but is it true he’s going out with Kendall? I’ve been seeing a lot about the two of them lately!”

“Um… I can’t really say.” They look at me with raised eyebrows. I guess it’s time to take the easy way out. “It’s quite complicated. But you shouldn’t believe everything you read… I can tell you that much.”

Their mouths form tiny ‘o’s in unison, and they try their best to look understanding. “Must be hard living in opposite sides of the globe.”

I give them a tight smile, really hating being put through this. Stupid lies. “Hm.”

"So how's the album coming along?" Meg asks with a freckled grin.

"Oh, I don't hear much about the boys’ albums and music..." I'm not really supposed to say anything either. Niall has been making an effort to write songs over the last few weeks though -he's played me lots of different chords on his guitar.

"No..." Laura smiles at me like I'm missing the point. "Your album! How's it going?"

I choke on air and Carla starts laughing beside me. "My... my album!?"
