165. Biscuits and Mango Juice

ROSIE'S POV:

Once we reach the small hut we are handed a map and advised about the three different routes we can take; green, yellow or red. Niall wants to take the yellow, but the thought of walking for more than an hour and a half -as it advises on the map- puts me right off. I'd much rather go on an easier walk, so instead we choose the green one and set off into the clearing.
We start at a good pace, however we find it much more pleasant to meander at a soft pace and chat between ourselves as we go. There are a  few people walking the same route around us, however they quickly overtake us -even the little old ladies with their walking sticks and water back packs- meaning that we are left to our own devices and given some privacy to hold hands without turning any heads.
Occasionally the odd jogger runs past, making me envy their healthy lifestyle -and each time Niall encourages me that if I start jogging like I've been saying I will, then I might be able to run the whole of this route in a few months. I personally don't think it will ever happen but the idea and encouragement motivates me to at least start.
We're half way through the walk and quite high up after a treacherous climb when the walk starts to get narrower, between two fences -meaning that we have no other option than to walk over a boggy and puddle ridden stretch of land. It only carries on for a few metres until the ground becomes hard again and you can see that people have wiped the excess mud off their boots onto the grass, but it still looks impossible for me with my narrow paces. I take one look down at my Nikes and think about turning around.
"We could just-"
"No, you're not getting away that easily." Niall laughs.
"It's gonna be murder to wipe off the mats in Justin's car."
"Right, come on then."
I'm not given any other option before Niall crouches in front of me. "Jump on then?"
Once i've jumped on i curl my legs around his waist and hold on as tight as possible. "How gentlemanly." I smile into his ear, placing a kiss on his neck and wrapping my arms around his chest. "Watch your knee though."
"I will." He gets closer to the mud and then jumps from the driest patches to the next. We've nearly made it across when the toes of his trainers catch on a hidden stone beneath the mud and he trips, catching himself with his hands as we reach the dry land again.
Niall is fine and so are both pairs of our shoes, however I tumble straight off of his back and over his head, to find myself flat out on my back with Niall's face hovering upside down above mine.
"Hi," he giggles, about to burst into laughter. My cheeks go bright red and he pecks me on the cheek before hooking his arms under my elbows and pulling me upright.
"All okay? No broken bones?"
I start giggling behind my bright red flushing cheeks. "Nope. The only thing I'm suffering from is a severe case of embarrassment."
He wraps his hand around my waist and swings us from side to side as we walk slowly.
"Ah. In that case I'm going to have to advise you with a treatment of biscuits and mango juice."
"Biscuits and mango juice? Like the ones I've got in my bag?"
"Exactly that." He laughs sincerely.
We find a spot to sit on, on a bank of grass by the tracks, that is tall and comfortable enough to perch ourselves on before opening my bag of snacks and tucking into it.
"You could have just told me you were hungry." I laugh, shielding my eyes from the sun behind him.
"Yes, but I'd never stop talking." He says as if it's obvious. "I'm always hungry." He places two whole jammy dodgers into his mouth before making me laugh and nearly choking on them.
"Weirdo." I laugh.
"No wonder we work." He winks at me. And he's right -we do work.
