3. My Lovely Bride

Harry seemed so relax when he handed the cheque to the man. "Don't even think about bothering this girl again, unless you're planning on going back to prison," he spoke through gritted teeth. Colors from the man's face was drained and his hands were trembling when he reached for the cheque. "Don't worry, we won't be bothering her anymore," he managed to say, with his eyes glued to the ground.

"Come on, Keira," he guided me outside. I inhaled deeply... and exhale. Thank God.. my problems were taken care of. "Thanks," I gave him a genuine smile.

"No 'thanks' necessary. Besides, you'll be helping me with my problem next."

Oh right.. I almost forgot. I was going to be his wife. "I'm constantly obsessed about my work. You'd be surprised to see a guy like me relaxing in an office in the middle of the night, while normally, guys around this age would have gone partying with other girls," he told me.

"I'm actually more surprised to hear that you're not dating anyone yet."

"Like I said, 'work' is my main priority.. My parents, they were okay with it before but somehow they're starting to disagree and kept setting me up on a blind date with random girls," he confessed.

"Random girls?"

"Well, not that random. I've gone to a date with the Head Executive's daughter, the Chief's daughter.. honestly, I say, they all seemed like a spoiled brat. I've had to smooth talk myself out from every conversation to avoid enraging them. Or else, my chances of advancing the resort would be shattered into pieces. Their fathers are powerful men, it's better to avoid the risk."

"Oh, so you're only marrying rich and famous girls?" I twitched my nose.

"I'm not planning to marry any of them. Famous? I admit, their appearances were rather mouth-drooling but I'm more attracted into personalities."

"So, what kinda of girl are you interested in?" I sounded curious.

He turned his head to me and gave an adoring smile, "Hmmm.. I just want a girl with a cute laugh and an adorable smile."

"Here, wear this." Harry handed me a heart-shaped diamond ring. I guess I was a bit disappointed, I thought he was going to give me an expensive and fancy ring, like the ones I usually saw in weddings. Oh well, anyways, it still looks nice though; simple and elegant. Our fake marriage is fairly legal, since he successfully made a fake document. That's like, our evidence.. although it's false but would probably be enough to convince everyone.

"Hold up.." I lifted my hand. "What are we going to tell them?"

"What do you mean?" he looked at me with an odd expression.

"Y'know.. what if someone asks how we've met.."

"That's easy. Just say we've met at flower shop," he shrugged.

"Then?" I hope he wasn't going to include the incident (when I had a wardrobe malfunction on the street) inside the story too.

"I probably know what you're thinking. Don't worry, I'm going to skip that part of the story and just move on to the part where I took you to the cafe for a nice, relaxing cup of tea."

"What about the story when you 'propose' to me?"

"Are all these stories necessary?" he frowned. "Of course!" I yelled.

"Once my friends found out I was married to you.. YOU! Harry Styles, the head owner of the most exquisite resort hotel in the world.. They would definitely throw a million question at me," I cried.

"But, we're not literally married."

"I know! But they don't." In the end, he sighed. Yeahhh.. I win! "Alright, how about.. I took you out to the beach one day.."

"And you stole my coconut juice.."

"You ran after me," he decided to continue the story.

"I threw sand at you.." He paused and turned to me, "...Really?"

"It was just a suggestion."

"Well, I've a better idea. You caught me and before I surrendered myself.. I walked up to you and proposed. You said, 'Yes' and we are both happy. Satisfied with that story?"

"That's a pretty dramatic scene."

"Only because it isn't true," he laughed.

Suddenly, my phone rang. I answered it right away, "Hello?" I heard a delicate voice and knew exactly who it was.. Jane!! "Oh my God.. Jane, is that you?"

"Glad you haven't forgotten about me," she giggled.

"Forgot? I would never."

"You never called," she complained. "I didn't know you were already back in town. Besides, I've been busy.."

"Oh right, I heard about your new collection! As expected from you, Keira. That's my gal!"

My lips bloomed into a smile; without realizing Harry's been watching me this whole time. He sat quietly, pretending to be busy with his phone. "Thanks, Jane."

"Where are you at? Home?" she asked. "Uhh, no. I'm here in.. a restaurant."

"Are you there with someone else?"

I looked at Harry. It seems he's busy playing games, it's best not to bother him. "W-well, apparently.."

"Ohh, I'm not bothering you, aren't I?" she felt guilty. "No, of course not! I'm glad you called."

"Well, I'm here at the Sweetheart Cafe, you know where it is.. right? Whenever you feel like coming over, text me, 'kay?" soon after that, she hanged up. I probably should go over and say 'hi'. It's been awhile since we've talked, I miss her. " Hey," I nudged Harry's shoulder.

"Huh? What is it?" he seemed dazed, probably from playing too much games.

"I have to go."

"Leaving again?"

"I'm going to go and meet someone. This is, umm, crucial.." I explained. "I never knew a best friend meet-up would be this important," he slid his phone into his pocket. "Remember, this is our little secret," he grabbed my arm, which startled me. "No one mustn't know about this."

"Don't you trust me?" I stood up.

"See you around, my bride," I froze when he mentioned me as his 'bride'. It felt strange being in a relationship without any connection. I'm only doing this to help him, this isn't real. I head straight towards the door and headed outside. This was just another part of the deal; a part of the contract.

Jane gave me a big hug when I entered the cafe. "Glad to see you too, Jane" I returned her hug. "Look at you.. My baby girl has grown up," she inspected me from head to toe. "You've gotten a bit taller too," she seemed amazed. I laughed. "Come on, let's take a seat."

Once we took a seat, I lifted my hand and requested for a drink. I turned to Jane and she seemed shocked, somehow.. Then, I've realized something. The ring!! I forgot I was wearing a ring.

"You're married?!" her mouth flew open. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I was going to, actually" I mumbled.

"So, you were married recently?"

"Well, yeah.. I guess so." She pinched my arm, "You said that I'd be your bridesmaid and that we'll only be married when we reach 30." Ouch.. I rubbed my arm. Jane, I'm not married yet. This is just an act but I couldn't tell you that. You're my best friend, I trust you but I'll probably wait for the perfect moment to reveal the truth. "I'm sorry. We were just.. too deeply in love with each other (as if).. we couldn't stand being apart from one another," I lied. I can't believe I'm saying these things but what other way should I explain it? She doesn't seemed angry, just surprised; really, really surprised.

"That's alright. I wasn't mad, this was a very shocking news. Congratulations, Keira.. I'm really happy for you," she flashed a smile.

"Thanks."

"So, who's the lucky guy?" her eyes gleamed with enthusiasm.

"Oh, umm, he's.."

"Aww c'mon. Don't need to be so secretive."

"Harry Styles.." I told her straight away. Now, she's looking at me with an even surprised face expression. "I can't believe it! Keira, you truly are the most luckiest girl in the world!"

"I'm starting to envy you," she pouts. "You don't have to be," I drank my coffee.

"You said, you both were deeply in love with each other. Don't you know who he is? Every girl would die to be in your position."

Yeahh.. I know. It's not like I wanted to be in this 'position', I didn't even dream for it! I'll have to hold on for another 2-3 months. Then, we could go back to our normal lives - we'll go our separate ways and he'll be out from the picture soon. Fuhh.. (sigh*)

"Keira.. look," Jane tapped my shoulder.

"What is it?" I turned my head around and gasped. I couldn't believe my eyes.. those crispy brown hair and hazel eyes. I knew right away exactly who it was. Someone I'd been hoping to never meet.. ever again..
