5. I'm not like most girls

Jeremiah walked me home. He face was blank, totally expressionless.

No answer.

He turned to look at me. His eyes were filled with the saddness that comes with the loss of someone you loved. It was the same saddness that had filled my heart this morning.

"Jere...you didn't have to do that."
"I know."

"THen why did you?"

He looked away, and just kept walking. I stopped.

"Why did you punch him? Why did you get so angry? Why did you choose me over him?"

He stopped walking and turned to face me. We were at least a foot apart.

"Why can't you just let it go? Most girls would just let me walk them home in peace."

"You know I'm not like most girls," It came out as a whisper.

He sighed, turning away.

"You're right," he whispered back.

I sat down on the side walk and crossed my arms.

"Come on Cassidy."
I raised my eyebrows, refusing to move. He threw his head back in defeat and came to sit down next to me.

"You really want to know why?"

I nodded.

He sighed, turning towards me, but his eyes froze on something behind me before he could speak. His eyes flashed to me and back. Slowly, I turned, not knowing what to expect, and there she was.
