How sweet the Taste

With a world full of mysteries, secrets and lies, how certain are you that you aren't apart of something beautifully dangerous? Something incredibly supernatural? Anna was fairly certain from a young age that something just wasn't right.

35. The Truth

“This may be a little hard to understand but please keep all questions and comments to yourself until I’m done explaining.” Harry said, brushing his curls away from his face before placing his elbows on his knees as he leaned forward.

We were sitting in the library, the only light in the room coming from the flickering fire. I nodded my head, leaning back into the couch as I criss crossed my legs, getting comfortable. I have a feeling I’m going to be here for a while.

“I knew your parents. Your mothers name was Rebecca and your fathers name was Isaac.” Harry simply stated, pausing to watch me. I kept my lips closed though I had millions of questions for him. How? Why? What happened to them? I wanted to ask but my gut told me that he was going to answer each one with the given time he has asked for.

“You’re parents weren’t human. You’re mother was a natural vampire and your father came from a long line of werwolves. Each blood line was pure, the ones in their families were all natural, not one of them were changed by a bite. Back then, werewolves and vampires had the chance to love each other. If you fell in love with a vampire, then it was possible to have a life together if you wanted it. This happened many times but couples like that never really stayed together long enough to have a family together. Their differences were just to much to handle in a romantic relationship. But, there was one pair that worked through it. Your parents.” Harry said, sighing as he leaned back in the chair, the glow from the fire making him look like a mythical creature of seduction. Well, he kinda was.

“So, my parents were like you? Or, well, supernatural?” I asked, frowning. Why didn’t I think of this possibility before?

“Remember, hold all questions until the end. But, to answer your question, yes. You’re parents were supernatural. They were special.” He said, his voice drifting off as he looked at the wall, his eyes going distant.

“I was friends with your mom. She was my best friend, actually. I told her everything. Your dad, he was okay with us being friends though he had to work at it. Female vampires are different and easier to get along with than male vampires. Something about domination. Anyway. We were talking about how the love of my life has yet to be born. I had search all over the world and my soul didn’t connect with anybody that I had even come in contact with. Somehow, your mother and your father were meant to be together. Nature wanted it that way.” Harry continued, fiddling with his fingers as he spoke.

“We were all going to the same college before you were born. That’s where I met Bonny and that is where your mother found out she was with child. Bonny was obsessed with me. She still is. She started following me around and scaring off any girl she thought I might have found attractive. When your mother became pregnant, I was there with her every step of the way. Bonny was jealous but she knew she wouldn’t get me by hurting her. Two weeks before the baby was supposed to be born, I began to feel like it was my responsibility to care for your mom. I felt like she was mine and I was hers. My soul connecting with her. She told me to wait until after the baby was born then to see how I feel, that it might have been the child.” He mummered, nervously brushing his curls out of his face.

“You’re mom was right. It wasn’t her that I was drawn to. It was the baby. It was you. Your mother was thrilled, happy for me but your father was a different story. You was daddy’s little girl now, nobody could have you. Not before you even had the chance to grow up. We made plans. I could stay around long enough to see your first birthday but after that I couldn’t come around until you were of age. We had thought everything would go according to plan. You was almost a year old when your parents made another little baby. Bonny had managed to find out about my soul mate being one of her kids and she lashed out. She tried to bond us but I refused her offer. I didn’t know that she had your parents tied up and hidden. She killed your mother, thinking that the baby she carried was the one. Your dad attacked her but he didn’t live past the first blow. After that, I took you and sent you to a safe place. I kept up with you in your dreams, making sure you was okay. It was the only way I could see you grow up..” Harry drifted off, avoiding any eye contact with me.

I didn’t know what to say. I could feel that my eyes were wide at the new information, that my mouth was open but no words were coming out. I’m supposed to be his “soul mate”? I don’t have a choice in this? And what does this vampire-werwolf love life make me? A hybrid? Some sort of freak?

“You’re not a freak.” Harry says, catching me off guard.

“Get out of my head. It’s mine for a reason.” I say, shaking my head at him.

“So what does this make me then? Your half vampire half werewolf soul mate? Do I even has a choice in this?” I asked, standing up to walk by the fire place. There’s no way I can sit still after hearing all of this.

“No body has ever wanted to have a choice in the matter.” Harry stated, sounding a little hurt.

“Yeah, well it’s obvious that I’m different.” I say, staring into the flames.

“So you don’t want me?” Harry asked, sounding upset but angry.

“I don’t know what I want.” I say turning around to face him.

“How could you not know? Something inside you has to be telling you that I’m the one. That you’re supposed to be with me, not anyone else. Hell, you’re not even supposed to want to be with anyone else!” He snaps.

“Says who?! Vampires and werwolves weren’t mean to love each other but they did! Why can’t who I want to spend my life with be a choice?” I ask, raising my voice a little. I’m so tired of being told what to do.

“Because that’s the way it’s always been, Anna. Nobody in the history of supernatural has ever denied their soul mate. Has never questioned if they want to be with them or not.” Harry says, shouting back at me.

“I’m not even old enough to know what love is, much less to have some sort of freaky connection to someone I barely even know claiming he’s the one I’m supposed to be with!” I yell back, not backing down as he took a step towards me.

“You will learn, little girl. Till then, if you have any questions, go to Niall. I’ve said all that I’ve had to say.” Harry growls, stomping out of the room.
