15. Act 14

At first, I thought it had been my imagination, but then they continued to move, until finally a finger poked through the top. And then two fingers, followed by a hand, then another and together the hands pushed on the ground, lifting up the arms from the ashes that were attached to a body that climbed up from the pile and stood before me. There he was, in all his natural beauty, the sorcerer; his body was completely healed and unmarred. Beneath olive skin, his muscles rippled as he stretched, getting used to his new body. As my eyes traveled up his body they rested on his chiseled face; taking in the squareness of his jaw, his full lips, and sculpted nose; now that it could be plainly seen since his long hair had shortened into a wavy mess of dark chestnut, resting just above his eyes. It was when I got to his silver eyes that I noticed their gaze upon me. I felt a rush of embarrassment when I realized that he had been watching me examine his body. He smirked at my reaction, sparking irritation within me. “Come, we have no time to waste.” He said, taking the torch from me. “I cannot use magic down here. First I must get out of the dungeon before I can teleport.” He walks over to the table hand starts handing me knives and other weapons that I can slip into my clothes. “Take as many as you can, you will surely need them” He looks away before I can respond and starts walking towards the steps. I focus trying to keep up with his long strides, rather than thinking about whom I might need these weapons for. He takes the steps two at a time without a thought, causing me to practically run up after him. Consequently, the journey to the top did not take nearly as long this time. We paused once we reached the top of the steps. I held a knife in hand, but knew that I was unprepared to use it despite my combat training. “Stay close to me if you want to make it out of here.” That was the only warning he gave me before whispering the words to the door. The inner mechanisms clunked inside, swinging the door open. I followed him through the opening and almost bumped into his nude body since it stopped immediately. Standing ten feet away were a dozen guards and Straiyer in front of them. “Kill the girl, leave the man to me.” He ordered as he glowered at us. I looked up at the sorcerer; I was not prepared to kill anyone, even if it was to protect my own life. He looked down at me, reading the look on my face. “Well, I ordered you to attack” Straiyer snapped at the hesitating soldiers. “She is no longer your princess, she has aligned yourself with a magician!” The sorcerer looked back at Straiyer, a gleam of revenge filled his eyes as he widened his stance, preparing to fight. I felt fear fill me and desperately grasped his arm. “You promised to get me out of here!” I exclaimed, as fear began to cloud my mind. “A magician cannot break his word.” His eyes looked at me, holding their own questions, but he gave into my plea. His hand reached into the torch, grabbing the fire and spreading it around us in a circle. The approaching guards stopped, scared and spooked by the magic in front of them. The sorcerer took my hand in his and stared into my brown eyes. His silver eyes reflected the surrounding flames and glowed with them. “Ignis onerariis”
