14. Chapter 14

Riley's POV

I sigh as my dad continues to vent as his fiancé backed him up, nodding and making quiet agreements. "What you did was completely out of line!" He points a finger in my face. I raise an eyebrow. Let's say I hated my dad for leaving my in the broken mess he did. "I'm sorry for defending my family! If this is anyone's fault it's yours!" I shot back, standing up. "Why is that?" He scoffs. "If you didn't leave our family wouldn't be so fucked up!" Chloe gasped, placing a hand on her big stomach. "There is a child in the room." She stomps her foot. I roll my eyes. "The family is fine!" Dad says. "That's what you think! Mom is an emotional wreck! Jake's drinking! Leah is so insecure! Destiny is the only one is oblivious to all this! It's driving me mad! You're here living this perfect life and we're barely making it by! People are insulting my family more importantly Destiny, and you want that to go unpunished? I don't know about you but when that happened, I was ready to kill her and if someone hadn't stepped in I would've killed that bitch. I'm the only one in the family who can actually fight for us. You couldn't give two shits about what goes on in our family!" I scream, my voice cracking, a tear rolling down my cheek. "Well, I've got a new family to take care of! I can't keep worrying about my past. I've got to move on to more important things." My dad explains. "Alright. Well I'm just gonna catch the public bus home. You can forget this shared custody shit cause clearly, you want to move on and I'm preventing it." I walk up the stairs, into the guest room and grabbing my small suitcase and walking down the stairs. "Riley stop being stupid and put your bags back." He sighs. I turn to him, my hand on the doorknob. "Goodbye father. See you never." I walk out slamming the door, meeting the cool fall air. I walk down the sidewalk, my suitcase rolling beside me. I'll never forgive my father and I'll never love him. I wasted seventeen years on him. Seventeen years I'll never get back. I sigh walking up to the bus stop and checking the time. 8:00 pm. The buss comes at 8:10 pm. Just ten minutes then my dad becomes my past. Can't wait.
