4. Chapter 4

Miranda's P.O.V

I couldn't sleep all night. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her. I got out of the bed and grabbed my cardigan from the dressing table chair and threw it over my shoulders. I opened the bedroom door and walked downstairs, everyone was in bed so I had to be really quiet. I walked into the kitchen and made a tea. I sat down at the table and I saw someone standing on the street outside, staring at me. I got up and opened the back door and walked out onto the road, they were gone. I stood out on the street, looking around. I turned around and started walking back to the house. I'm probably seeing things. I thought. I heard a twig snap behind me, I quickly turned around, they weren't there. I turned back to the house but bumped into someone. I stepped away fast. Someone with a black hood on was standing there, a bit taller than me but not too much. They took there hood off.

"Did you miss me?"

Hazel's P.O.V

The sound of rain smashing against my window woke me up. I opened my eyes slowly and reached for my phone. I turned it on and the brightness shone in my eyes, it burned. My eyes adjusted to the light after a while. I saw the time. 2:08 am. I huffed and got out of bed. I walked into my bathroom and turned the light on. I walked over to the sink and turned on the tap. I bent over and cupped my hands, filled with water, I pulled them up to my face. The water ran down my face. I turned the tap off and walked over to the hand towel and dried my face. I looked back in the mirror. I stared at myself for a while.

"You've got so much of your sister in you." Mum said, she was standing by the door.

"Mum, you scared me." I said, turning around to her and holding my hand up to my chest, feeling the beat of my heart racing fast.

"Sorry." She replied, she walked over to me.

"What are you doing up?" I asked, she moved a strand of hair away from my face.

"I couldn't sleep. I was just on the phone to your father." She said, I looked down.

"Let me guess, he was talking about me going over there for a while?" I asked, leaning my head on my shoulder.

Mum nodded, "He's excited to see you." She said, I brushed past her and sat on my bed.

"Well, I'm not that excited to see him." I said, she sat down next to me on the bed.

"You're going to have a great time. You're going to make new friends-" I cut her off.

"I don't want to make new friends mum. Miranda and Cara are my best friends. Miranda needs me right now mum, you don't understand." I said, she looked down at her feet.

"You're right, I dont understand. But that's only because you never tell me anything. We hardly talk in this house anyway. So, I think it's good that you go see your dad for a while." She said, I nodded.

"Like he would care about my problems anyway." I said, she looked up at me.

"Of course he will. Honey, I know I haven't been around a lot lately but that's because I'm trying to work hard so I can look after you. It's just hard at the moment." She explained, I looked at her.

"Why? Why mum? Why is it so hard now? We've been fine for the last year, you had one job. Now you have 3 and all of a sudden, everything is hard. What's going on mum?" I asked, she shook her head and looked down at the ground.

"It's just hard to explain." She replied. I shook my head this time. Tears came to my eyes.

"It shouldn't be this hard. You're my mother, we are supposed to tell each other things." I said, she looked away from me.

"I just can't." I said, I sat up.

"Why? Are you sick? Are you doing drugs? or-" She looked at me, her eyes filled with tears.

"What? Drugs? I would never do drugs, you know that." She said, I softened my face a little bit.

"You didn't answer my other question." She looked away, "Mum, are you sick?" She shook her head and got off the bed.

"Go to sleep, You leave for the airport at 10 am and you haven't even packed." She explained, she wiped a tear off her cheek and walked out the door, shutting it behind her.

I got off my bed and walked into my closet. I pulled down 3 of my suitcases from the top shelf and threw them on the ground. I started putting my clothes in and my shoes. I grabbed my side bag and put in my Journal, phone charger and my wallet. I walked over to my shelves and picked up the necklace Cara got me for my birthday, I put it around my neck. I put a few more things into my suitcases, then I looked at my room. Half of my room was gone. Pictures were off the wall, closet was empty, books are gone. This is really happening. I'm really leaving.

Cara's P.O.V

I heard my bedroom door close. I opened my eyes and Miranda walked in. I sat up on the bed and she sat on the corner of the bed, She didn't say anything.

"Where have you been?" I asked, her face turned to the side, she wasn't looking at me.

"No where." She mumbled. I laid down.

"Well, get back in bed." I said, I looked at the clock on my wall. It was 7am.

"no, i'm fine." She said, she got up off the bed and looked at me, her eyes were red.

"You okay?" I asked, she put her hands on her hips and let out a loud sigh.

"What if I told you, my sister wasn't dead?" She asked, I shook my head.

"Go to bed, you've probably just been dreaming or something." I said, she walked around the room.

"This wasn't a dream. This was real. Okay, I went downstairs at like 1 or something and made myself a tea, I sat down at the table and I saw someone standing on the street. I went outside and they were gone, I turned around to come back to the house and they were there, it was my sister." She explained. Was she going crazy?

"How do you know it was her?" I asked, she walked over to the window. She let out another sigh and turned and looked at me.

"Because I saw her face. I know I might sound crazy, but you have to believe me." She said sitting next to me on the bed.

"Look, I want to believe you and I hate to say this but your sister is gone. You read it yourself, You saw for yourself. Come on, get back to bed and sleep it off." I said, she huffed. My phone vibrated. I picked it up and looked at it, It was a text from Hazel.

Leaving at 9:30 to the airport, miss u. xxx

"On second thought, hurry up, get changed, we're going to Hazel's." I said, getting out of bed.

"Why so early?" Miranda asked, following me into the closet.

"She's leaving today." I said.
