What If: A Harry Potter Fanfiction

Most people never knew that Sirius Black had a daughter. Understandable, because Meadow Black was kept in an anti-aging spell for 36 years. Finally, she has awoken. Finally, she is off to Hogwarts. Finally, her life has begun. But will it end soon after beginning?

31. Summer

The twenty-ninth of June. Meadow's twelfth birthday. It went somewhat well. Ginny and Harry acted . . . out of the ordinary to her, which was to be accepted. James, Albus, and Lily were supportive the whole way through.

In fact, by Harry's birthday, Meadow found herself developing a crush on James Sirius Potter.

James was kind to her, and he didn't need to be. While Albus, knowing she was a changeling doomed to die, tended to shy away from his adopted sister, James only became closer.

No. Not just a crush.

Meadow Bellatrix Black, the last changeling alive, was falling in love with James Sirius Potter, the Quidditch star and the boy known to cause as much trouble as possible with his friends Fred Weasley, Alejandro Krum, and Alice Longbottom.

Meadow was actually in the middle of carving M.B.B + J.S.P on the wall beneath her bed one late August evening when Harry approached her.

"Meadow, I am Head of the Auror Department of the Ministry of Magic, as such it has fallen into my hands to teach you of how Dark wizards and witches work." Harry announced, awkwardly using a very formal tone of voice.

"What are you saying, Ha-" she began to use his first name, but caught his eye and smoothly recovered, "Mr. Potter?"

"What I'm saying, Meadow, is that your education at Hogwarts has been put on indefinite hiatus. You are going to be homeschooled from now until an undetermined date." Harry announced.

Meadow dropped her carving knife. "Is that even possible?" she gasped.

"Yeah, a few pureblood rich families do it. Don't want their kids mixing with so-called mudbloods. But Meadow, you're not exactly welcome into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry due to your changeling heritage until you prove that you can be a valuable part of Wizarding society."

Meadow's eyes filled with tears, which she blinked back. "Will I be able to write my friends?" she asked in a hoarse and quiet voice.

"Most likely, yes." Harry sighed and crossed his arms, leaning against the wall. "Meadow, I truly am sorry . . ."

"No, you're not!" Meadow shrieked, and her human disguise wore off. Harry flinched back when he saw her changeling form. This only made her angrier. He only liked the side that looked like Sirius. "You're not sorry to me! You're sorry to you and Ginny! Sorry that you brought in a dirty changeling!" she hissed. "You're only trying to save your reputation!"

She curled up in a fetal position and began to cry. Harry made his way over and awkwardly put an arm around her shoulders.

"Not all people are like Vivian Kendricks. I do like you, Meadow. It's just . . . going to take a while to get used to you not being human, that's all."
